Abstract: A reversible gear driving mechanism for transmitting the movement of a motor member of the reversible type is disclosed having two last gears mounted on a swinging support adapted to swing from a first position, where the first one of the two last gears is in mesh with a first gear wheel utilizing the movement or first final gear wheel, into a second position where the second last gear is in mesh with a second gear wheel utilizing the movement or second final gear wheel. The driving member also including a shiftable or sliding control member adapted to take two stable positions and controlled in turn by the shift of the swinging support so as to take one or the other position according to the position taken by the latter.

Abstract: This specification discloses a wire banding method and machine, which comprises a base member, a circular guideway and wire feeding and tensioning means. Wire is fed across the base and past an article to be bound and then around the guideway until the leading edge thereof strikes a stop. At this time, clamping means on a first member on the base clamps and holds the leading end of the wire. Then the feeding means is reversed to tension the wire about the article. At the end of the tensioning step a second member on the base clamps the wire and the wire is severed prior to welding, then during the welding operation means are provided to prevent the welding current from damaging the articles being banded, then after welding the ends of the wire band, the weld is tensioned to check the integrity thereof.
Abstract: A mechanism incorporated in a die forming machine which includes a rotating blade driven in a timed trajectory such that the blade hits a blank, at or about the instant of its discharge from the die, and propels the blank forcibly out of the path of a moving gate in the direction of the blank chute in order to expedite its removal from the working area.
Abstract: A zoom lens having capability of focusing to a magnification of 1:2 through movement of only the front focusing group. The power of the focusing group is chosen in relation to the power of the lens at its long focal length to accomplish close focusing with minimal axial travel while providing good aberration correction.
Abstract: A storage system for articles comprising a plurality of inclined storage compartments where an unloading member on an elevator removes articles from given compartments and transfers the article to a conveyor from a transfer position on the elevator and the conveyor carries the articles to a delivery point.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for compensating the gain of a circuit servo-controlling the position of a rotor with the aid of at least one electromagnetic bearing provided with electromagnet windings, from signals delivered by at least one detector detecting the position of the rotor, the servo-control circuit ensuring the control of the supply of the windings in response to the signals delivered by the detectors and comprising an amplification circuit with which is associated a negative current feedback loop, said device further comprising supplementary electrical means for injecting at the input of the amplification circuit a signal depending on the variations in the airgap of the servo-controlled electromagnetic bearing, in a predetermined variation frequency zone. The invention is more particularly applicable to electronic circuits for controlling active electromagnetic bearings.
Abstract: A cassette tape recorder drive mechanism including a capstan and an associated pinch roller, a first tape guide means causing the tape to be partially wound on the capstan and a second tape guide means adjacent the first guide means mounted on the axis of the pinch roller for selective engagement with the capstan to vertically restrict movement of the tape in contact with the capstan regardless of the direction of tape movement.
Abstract: An improved optical system for a relatively compact zoom lens of relatively high speed, moderate range, and extending from normal into the telephoto region, the lens being of simple construction and having two lens groups and as few as six elements.
Abstract: A method is provided for selective removal of copper contaminants from aqueous activator solutions which also contain palladium and tin. It comprises placement of insoluble electrodes in the aqeuous solution and application of a low voltage, preferably ranging from between 0.05 to 5.0 volts across the electrodes, whereby metallic copper is selectively deposited upon the cathode, with palladium and tin remaining in the aqueous solutions. Typically, the soluble copper ions are present as contaminants in activator solutions utilized in various electroless metal plating processes.
Abstract: A very compact lens of the retrofocus type, capable of covering a field angle of up to 63.degree., comprising six elements including a singlet front group of strong negative power, and having extremely good aberrational correction.
Abstract: A method is provided for selectively separating and removing complexed heavy metal ions, preferably copper or nickel, from complexing agents in aqueous solution and removing substantially all heavy metal ions while leaving complexing agent in said solution. In preferred embodiments, complexed copper or complexed nickel is selectively removed from aqueous effluent from electroless plating systems by passage through a bed of chelating ion-exchange resin having an iminodiacetic acid functionality. Substantially all copper or nickel will be removed from solution and retained in the resin bed and the complexing agent will pass through for conventional waste treatment or disposal. The copper or nickel is recovered by elution from the resin bed with an acid solution and may, if desired, be precipitated by addition of sodium hydroxide or the like and subsequently separated for recovery or disposal.

Abstract: Improved solutions are provided for selectively stripping alloys containing nickel with gold, phosphorous or chromium from substrates formed from alloys containing iron with chromium and in some instances nickel, or nickle rich, chromium bearing alloys, some of which also contain iron. These solutions comprise concentrated nitric acid, at least one chloride salt, an organic corrosion inhibitor and, optionally, an organic surface active agent. An improved method utilizing the solutions of the invention is also provided and facilitates stripping of these alloys in substantially reduced time, without degradation of the underlying substrate.
