  • Patent number: 7840057
Abstract: Methods, and program storage devices, for performing model-based optical proximity correction by providing a region of interest (ROI) having an interaction distance and locating at least one polygon within the ROI. A cut line of sample points representative of a set of vertices, or plurality of cut lines, are generated within the ROI across at least one lateral edge of the polygon(s). An angular position, and first and second portions of the cut line residing on opposing sides of an intersection between the cut line and the lateral edge of the polygon are determined, followed by generating a new ROI by extending the original ROI beyond its interaction distance based on such angular position, and first and second portions of the cut line. In this manner, a variety of new ROIs may be generated, in a variety of different directions, to ultimately correct for optical proximity.

  • Patent number: 7839265
Abstract: A fire exit alert system, preferably integrated into an exit device or automatic fire exit door closer, uses sound and light to signal the location of a fire exit in darkness and smoke-obscured rooms. The alert system includes a voice signal, such as “EXIT LOCATED HERE,” to signal that the location of the voice is also the location of the exit. A white noise signal generator is used to supplement the voice signal and produces a sound that is particularly localizable by the human ear. A strobe light and a laser are used to produce a visual guide to the location of the exit. The strobe light is flashed when the word “HERE” is used in the voice signal. The laser is used to produce a cone of light that points towards the fire exit alert system.

  • Patent number: 7833897
Abstract: A method is provided for making of interconnect solder bumps on a wafer or other electronic device without depositing any significant amount of tin or other solder component from the solder onto the wafer surface which tin can cause shorts or other defects in the wafer. The method is particularly useful for well-known C4NP interconnect technology. In one aspect of the invention, a reducing gas flow rate is used to remove oxides from the solder surfaces and wafer pad surfaces and is of a sufficient determined or pre-determined flow and/or chamber or mold/wafer spacing to provide a gas velocity across the solder surfaces and wafer pad surfaces so that Sn or other contaminants do not deposit on the wafer surface during solder transfer. In another aspect, the transfer contact is performed below the melting point of the solder and subsequently heated to above the melting temperature while in transfer contact. The heated solder in contact with the wafer pads is transferred to the wafer pads.

  • Patent number: 7781232
Abstract: Methods and reworked intermediate and resultant electronic modules made thereby, whereby a component in need of rework is located and removed from the module to reveal encapsulated solder connections residing within an underfill matrix. Heights of both the solder connections and underfill matrix are reduced, followed by etching the solder out of the solder connections to form openings within the underfill matrix. The underfill material is then removed to expose metallurgy of the substrate. A blank having a release layer with an array of solder connections is aligned with the exposed metallurgy, and this solder array is transferred from the blank onto the metallurgy. The transferred solder connections are then flattened using heat and pressure, followed by attaching solder connections of a new component to the flattened solder connections and underfilling these reworked solder connections residing between the new chip and substrate.
