Abstract: A metal alloy mass of a defined porosity for forming in the semi-solid state. When the porosity is measured by cooling in ambient air from a temperature corresponding to a liquid fraction ratio between 30 and 70% to the ambient temperature, the mass has a porosity ratio, measured by image analysis, between 2 and 20%, and preferably between 3 and 8%. Alternatively, when the gassing level is measured by a solidification test under 80 hPa, the mass has a volumetric porosity ratio between 3 and 50% and preferably between 4 and 25%.

Abstract: A cosmetic or pharmaceutical, particularly dermatological, composition including an effective amount of laminarin or laminarin-derived oligosaccharides as the active ingredient. It has been discovered that laminarin, oligosaccharides derived therefrom and compositions containing same have stimulating, regenerating, conditioning and energising effects on human dermis fibroblasts and human epidermis keratinocytes. Said composition is useful in cosmetics and pharmacology.
Abstract: Method for upgrading waste material comprising sheet metal with a zinc plating on at least one side thereof, including a) subjecting the waste material to a mechanical processing step to improve the accessibility of said zinc layers to a subsequent chemical etching by increasing the accessible etching surface of the zinc layer portions, this being achieved by crushing the waste material to separate the sheets from each other and by producing cracks in said zinc layers; this step is advantageously conducted in a shredder/mill; b) subjecting the waste material to a chemical etching step to dissolve the zinc by immersing it in a basic bath; and c) separating the zinc-free sheets from the chemical etching bath continuing the dissolved zinc, which is then recovered by electrolysis. The invention particularly discloses the use of the above method for recovering and upgrading fresh scraps of zinc plated sheets in the automotive industry.

Abstract: A removable rear shelf for a motor vehicle and lateral supports therefor. The shelf includes a pair of front corners and an abutment surface adjacent the front corners on the bottom surface of the shelf. Each of the lateral supports includes a surface on which the bottom surface of the shelf rests when installed in the motor vehicle, a coupling element which receives a front corner of the shelf and permits rotation of the shelf relative to the supports for installation and removal, and an abutment surface which is complementary with the abutment surface on the shelf to prevent rearward movement of the shelf when installed.

Abstract: Extracts of the plant Commiphora mukul are used as pigmenting agents and melanocyte culture agents, and for the manufacture of cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions. Particularly preferred are extracts of the formula IIa, designated Commipherol, and abstracts of the formula IIb designated Commipherin.
Abstract: An implement for drying a surface and for simultaneously recovering a liquid from the surface includes a drying blade of flexible material secured to a hand-held support, the drying blade having a linear leading edge for scraping the surface and for drying the surface by establishing a bead of the liquid behind the leading edge on an inside face of the drying blade, and a substrate having a face fixed to a face of the drying blade adjacent the linear leading edge and which collects the bead of liquid established behind the linear leading edge. This substrate constitutes a drying and liquid recovery head.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an end connector for a cross tee for use in a suspended ceiling grid system. The end connector includes a front portion adapted to be inserted by a stab in motion into a vertical opening in a web of a main tee and a rear portion adapted to be attached to an end of a cross tee. The front portion has front, bottom and top edges with a first lock arrangement provided on a top edge of the front portion, the first lock region providing a connection between the end connector and a web of a main tee when the connector is inserted into an opening in a web of a main tee. The first lock arrangement extends angularly outwardly of the end connector and has a forward portion resiliently deflectable from its rest position to pass through an opening in a web of a main tee and then spring back to its rest position. A web containing area is located rearwardly of the forward portion for containing a web of a main tee and a stop surface is located rearwardly of the web containing area.
Abstract: A valve sound emitted from an operated injector is suppressed to be transmitted through a fuel passage in a core to a delivery pipe, thus reducing operating noise. A sound insulating member is fixed in the fuel passage in the core. It has been recognized that transmission of the sound is effectively suppressed even with a sound insulating member of such a size that does not prohibit fuel flow. Preferably, the sound insulating member is integrally assembled to a strainer. Noise from the operated injector is effectively reduced by the invention.
Abstract: A current collecting shoe for transferring energy from a catenary wire to rolling stock, includes a sheath constructed and arranged for fixing to a pantograph carried by the rolling stock, a wearing strip including graphite mounted on the sheath, a longitudinal slot or boring in the wearing strip and a tubular section disposed within the boring or at least partially within the slot. The tubular section is thermally stable at a temperature of at least 400.degree. C., and constructed of a material having a hardness of at least 4 on the Mohs scale and an electrical conductivity greater than graphite. This tubular section acts as an electrical conductor to transfer energy from the wearing strip to the rolling stock, and is constructed and arranged for sealing with a fluid therein and connection to a fluid pressure detection means.
Abstract: The invention concerns novel benzisoselen-azoline and -azine derivatives. These novel derivatives have the following general formula (II): ##STR1## where: R.sup.1 to R.sup.8 and R.sup.10 have various meanings, in particular H, alkyl, etc . . . ; ##STR2## Y.sup.- represents the anion of a pharmaceutically acceptable anion; n=0, 1; m=0, 1, 2; p=1, 2, 3; q=2, 3, 4; r=0, 1; and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts of acids or bases; there being no more than one substituent R.sup.9 in each molecule with general formula II. These novel derivatives can be used in medication.

Abstract: The invention relates to a person lifter (10), particular a pool lifter, including a rotatable column (12) that begins at a base mount (22), and with a person holder (18), such as a seat or gurney, that can be raised or lowered by a lifting arm (16) along the longitudinal axis (14) of the column. In order to stop the person holder in the event of a malfunction, or if the lowering speed of the person holder is excessively high, the lifting arm (16) begins at a first driven belt (conveyor belt) (26) guided in the column (12), parallel to which a second belt (28) (catch belt) guided in the column and joined to the lifting arm (16) is arrested if the lowering speed of the person holder exceeds a predetermined value.
