  • Patent number: 6281477
Abstract: A delivery bag for pizza or other products includes upper, lower, rear, and first and second side panels and a closure flap. The panels and flap are made from a substantially flexible insulating panel material and have interior and exterior surfaces. The panel material is capable of conveying moisture from the interior surface to the exterior surface. The delivery bag also includes one or more pockets fixed to interior surfaces of the panels. A modular heating element is disposed in each pocket. The delivery bag as described advantageously maintains temperatures of pizzas therein, yet allows relative humidity to decline over a specified period of time, thereby preventing e.g. pizza crusts from becoming soggy. Corresponding methods provide similar advantages.

  • Patent number: 6271477
Abstract: An apparatus and method for extending the durability and life span of flexible circuitry by limiting the bend radius of the flexible circuitry and distributing the flexure point about an extended portion of the circuitry. The assembly includes one or more flex-limiting members associated with and integrated between the layers of flexible circuitry laminate. A fastener is affixed to the flexible circuitry laminate, operatively coupling the one or more flex-limiting members in position adjacent the flexible circuitry laminate. The flex-limiting member limits flexure of the circuitry, during each individual bend, to or below a predetermined angle, thereby decreasing the rate of failure in the circuitry, for example via short circuit, as a result of repeated or excessive bending.

  • Patent number: 6225797
Abstract: A power transistor switched power supply connecting a power source to a capacitive load, including a circuit and method for limiting the inrush surge current through the power transistor. The control gate of a junction field effect transistor (JFET) is coupled between the conductive path of the power transistor and the load to sense voltage drop across the power transistor. The conductive controlled path of the JFET is connected to control the impedance of the power transistor. The JFET shunts some of the power transistor control terminal current during the on transition allowing the power transistor to only turn partially on for a period of time, thus limiting the current through the power transistor from the power source to the load. Because the inrush surge current is limited, the accompanying transient power source voltage drop is reduced with less impact to other circuits connected to the power source.

  • Patent number: 6203321
Abstract: A dental apparatus backflow-prevention system substantially prevents contaminant backflow into a patient's mouth. The system includes a saliva ejector tube for insertion into the patient's mouth and for removal of saliva, blood, etc. when a vacuum is applied. A backflow-prevention device receives fluid from the saliva ejector tube and includes an internal valve seat. Valve componentry disposed within the backflow-prevention device includes a housing and a seating mechanism operably supported by the housing to automatically engage the valve seat and prevent contaminant backflow upon release of the vacuum. Upon application of vacuum, however, the seating mechanism automatically disengages from the valve seat and allows fluid flow away from the patient's mouth. According to one embodiment, the seating mechanism is functionally flexible for movement within the housing away from the valve seat, and is biased to move toward the valve seat upon release of vacuum.
