  • Patent number: 8265551
Abstract: Provided is a mobile communication system which includes a plurality of RAT (Radio Access Technology) and can eliminate the need of a control channel for reporting RAT information so as to prevent congestion or shortage of the control channel capacity. In the mobile communication system, an LTE relay station (30) has a cover area (31) identical to a cover area (21) owned by a WLAN host station (20) and relays/transmits the signal received from an LTE base station (10) to a mobile station (40) in the cover area (31). The LTE relay station (30) adds to the signal received from the LTE base station (10), one of the offsets: a frequency offset, a time offset, and a power offset as information indicating that the mobile station (40) which receives a relay signal from the local station is located in the cover area (21) of WLAN and transmits the signal after offset addition to the mobile station (40) located in the cover area (31) (i.e., the cover area (21)).

  • Patent number: 8265798
Abstract: A system and method of curtailing energy production within congestive grid operating environments including a method of managing power generation of a power generation site operable to be coupled to a transmission line is disclosed. The method can also include detecting curtailment action data and energy pricing data of the power generation site. Additionally, the method can include analyzing the curtailment action data and the energy pricing data to detect a curtailment probability level and initiate a reduction of the electricity being transmitted from the power generating site to the transmission line in response to the detected curtailment probability level being above a curtailment set level. According to a further aspect of the invention, the electricity being transmitted from the power generating site to the transmission line may be reduced by diverting at least a portion of the electricity being transmitted from the power generating site to a storage system.

  • Patent number: 8260228
Abstract: A radio transmitting apparatus that has a plurality of antennas and changes the number of modulated signals transmitted simultaneously according to the propagation environment and so forth. A transmission power changing section 12 of a radio transmitting apparatus of the present invention adjusts the pilot symbol signal level so as to match the data symbol composite signal level according to the number of transmit modulated signals set by a modulated signal number setting section 11. By this means, the operating range of received pilot, symbols and the operating range of received data symbols become approximately the same on the receiving side, enabling pilot symbol quantization error to be reduced. As a result, the precision of radio wave propagation environment estimation, time synchronization, and frequency offset estimation using pilot symbols improves, and consequently data reception quality improves.

  • Patent number: 8259850
Abstract: A UWB transmission apparatus that, in a system using a mixture of amplitude and phase modulation schemes, can support both of the amplitude and phase modulation schemes, while preventing the signal powers of amplitude-modulated signals from degrading. In this UWB transmission apparatus, if the modulation mode is of QPSK, a mapping part (121) selects one of four signal points on the IQ plane in accordance with a 2-bit data, and outputs information related to the I- and Q-components of the selected signal point to a QPSK/ASK modulated signal forming part (122). If the modulation mode is of ASK, the mapping part (121) selects the origin point on the IQ plane when the data being ‘0’ and selects one of four signal points on the IQ plane, similarly to the case of QPSK modulation, when the data being ‘1,’ and outputs information, which is related to the selected signal point, to the QPSK/ASK modulated signal forming part (122).

  • Patent number: 8259693
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and mobile terminal for performing a data allocation process for scheduled data, non-scheduled user data and non-scheduled control data obeying restrictions on the resource utilization defined by a scheduling grant and at least one non-scheduled grant. Further, the invention relates to a method for transmitting control signaling from a network entity in a radio access network of a mobile communication system controlling the radio resources of mobile terminals to at least one of said mobile terminal and the network entity in a radio access network. In order to reduce the delays to control signaling implied by a conventional HARQ process restriction mechanism the present invention suggests a new categorization of uplink data into scheduled data, non-scheduled user data and non-scheduled control data and a new HARQ process restriction mechanism disabling certain HARQ processes for non-scheduled user data only.

  • Patent number: 8260358
Abstract: There are provided a communication system, a base station control device, and a base station device capable of improving communication quality. In the communication system (100), the base station control device (120) totalizes information on the number of base stations as the number of base station devices (130) which can communicate with a mobile station device (140), makes Nb copies of a data frame, successively assigns integer values from 1 to Nb as stream numbers Ns to the data frames copied, and forms Nb copied data frames including Nb and Ns in header information. Copied data frames having different Ns in the header information are sent to the base station devices (130) which can communicate with the mobile station device (140). According to the Ns and Nb contained in the copied data frame, the base station device (130) subjects the data in the copied data frame to temporal/spatial encoding to form a temporal/spatial encoding series.

  • Patent number: 8261150
Abstract: In a multi-antenna communication system using LDPC codes, a simple method is used to effectively improve the received quality by performing a retransmittal of less data without restricting applicable LDPC codes. In a case of a non-retransmittal, a multi-antenna transmitting apparatus (100) transmits, from two antennas (114A, 114B) , LDPC encoded data formed by LDPC encoding blocks (102A, 102B). In a case of a retransmittal, the multi-antenna transmitting apparatus (100) uses a transmission method, in which the diversity gain is higher than in the previous transmission, to transmit only a part of the LDPC encoded data as previously transmitted. For example, the only the part of the LDPC encoded data to be re-transmitted is transmitted from the single antenna (114A).

  • Patent number: 8259837
Abstract: Modulated signal A is transmitted from a first antenna, and modulated signal B is transmitted from a second antenna. As modulated signal B, modulated symbols S2(i) and S2(i+1) obtained from different data are transmitted at time i and time i+1 respectively. In contrast, as modulated signal A, modulated symbols S1(i) and S1(i)? obtained by changing the signal point arrangement of the same data are transmitted at time i and time i+1 respectively. As a result the reception quality can be changed intentionally at time i and time i+1, and therefore using the demodulation result of modulated signal A of a time when the reception quality is good enables both modulated signals A and B to be demodulated with good error rate performances.
