  • Patent number: 8218682
Abstract: A digital signal transmitting apparatus that prevents occurrences of highness and lowness in error tolerance due to bit positions without raising the redundancy and without retransmittal. In the digital signal transmitting apparatus, a bit interchanging part (103) uses rate match information (105) to interchange bit positions such that a bit inserted by a rate match part (102) is placed at the bit position of a low error tolerance in a single symbol to be multilevel modulated. Moreover, the bit interchanging part (103) also uses the rate match information (105) to interchange bit positions such that another encoded bit, in which the bit punctured by the rate match part (102) is the same as the bit prior to encoding thereof, is placed at a bit position of a high error tolerance in a single symbol to be multilevel modulated.

  • Patent number: 8217300
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a vehicle structure including a laser welded fastener includes positioning a first panel in engagement with a second panel to provide access to the first panel by a laser beam. The first panel is laser welded to the second panel. A fastener including projections axially extending from a first surface of a flange are formed. The projections are engaged with a surface of the first panel to space apart the first surface of the flange from the surface of the first panel. Laser welding is initiated by directing a laser beam toward one of the flange of the fastener and the first panel. Gas is vented from an area between the first surface of the flange and the surface of the first panel. The flange is laser welded to the first panel.

  • Patent number: 8219865
Abstract: A transmitter apparatus wherein a relatively simple structure is used to suppress burst errors without changing the block sizes of encoded blocks even when the number of modulation multi-values is increased. An encoding part subjects transport data to a block encoding process to form block encoded data. A modulating part modulates the block encoded data to form data symbols; and an arranging (interleaving) part arranges (interleaves) the block encoded data in such a manner that the intra-block encoded data of the encoded blocks, which include their respective single different data symbol, get together, and then supplies the arranged (interleaved) block encoded data to the modulating part. In this way, there can be provided a transmitter apparatus wherein a relatively simple structure is used to suppress burst errors without changing the block sizes of encoded blocks even when the number of modulation multi-values is increased.

  • Patent number: 8217309
Abstract: A glow plug assembly includes an integrated, internal pressure sensor. In order to reduce loading on the center electrode, improve sensor responsiveness, and provide better thermal performance, the pressure sensor assembly is housed in a canister which forms a containment capsule and rigidly connects inside the glow plug shell near its seat area. The pressure sensor makes direct contact with the base end of the heater probe so that movements of the heater probe caused by fluctuations in gas pressure lead directly to changing force on the sensor stack.

  • Patent number: 8219113
Abstract: When a GPS terminal (8) is located in a cell (1), positioning is performed by acquiring cell information and position information (ResPos) of the cell (1). Furthermore, since the ResPos acquired by the GPS terminal (8) in the cell (1) includes surrounding cell information about surrounding cells (cell 2 to cell 7), the surrounding cell information is also stored in the GPS terminal (8) in association with the ResPos acquired in the cell (1). When the GPS terminal (8) moves between a plurality of cells, positioning is performed using the ResPos stored in the cell (1) as is if the number of handovers is smaller than a predetermined threshold. On the other hand, if the number of handovers exceeds a predetermined threshold, positioning is performed using the ResPos acquired in the destination cell.

  • Patent number: 8219266
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and device for attenuating lateral effects on an aircraft due to turbulence encountered by the aircraft during flight. The lateral effects are attenuated by applying a roll control order to control a first controllable movable member that acts on aircraft roll and minimizes aircraft roll-wise disturbances due to wind, and a yaw control order that controls a second controllable movable member to act on aircraft yaw. The roll and yaw control orders are calculated based on a sideslip value of the aircraft, while the yaw control order is calculated as a function of the roll control order to compensate for aircraft lateral effects due to turbulence, as well as lateral effects due to application of the roll control order to the first movable member.

  • Patent number: 8218681
Abstract: An OFDM transmitter and receiver realizing high-speed cell search and having a reducible circuit scale. An OFDM transmitter includes an SCH inserting section for constructing a frame where a synchronization sequence in a predetermined position from the head of a first sub-frame is arranged and a synchronization sequence composed of the symbols of the former synchronization sequence and the symbols whose I, Q components are interchanged is arranged in a predetermined position from the head of a second sub-frame adjacent in the time-axis direction to the former sub-frame, an IFFT section, a P-SCH conversion section, and an RF transmitting section for transmitting this frame. Thus, the receiving end of the frame can locate the position of either synchronization sequence and determine the frame timing from that position, thereby increasing the speed of the cell search.

  • Patent number: 8210472
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for improving the performance of transport aircraft. In particular, the aircraft is provided with a rounded nose cone in front of a center of gravity of the aircraft. The rounded nose cone has an upper longitudinal surface and a lower longitudinal surface configured, respectively, to generate a lifting force and a negative lifting force and produce a resultant that is lifting and to produce an auxiliary nose-up moment. The method involves shaping the nose cone to increase the lifting resultant. This shaping is carried out-by increasing the upper longitudinal surface of the nose cone, so as to increase the lifting force, and by reducing the lower longitudinal surface of the nose cone, so as to decrease the negative lifting force.

  • Patent number: 8214713
Abstract: When a determination section of a reception apparatus determines that a control channel is intended for the reception apparatus, a comparing section of the reception apparatus compares control information transmitted on the control channel with a reception capability of the reception apparatus. A data channel reception section of the reception apparatus receives a data channel when the control information is within the reception capability of the reception apparatus, but does not receive the data channel when the control information exceeds the reception capability of the reception apparatus. When the control information exceeds the reception capability of the reception apparatus, the transmission section does not transmit an ACK signal and a NACK signal with respect to the data channel.

  • Patent number: 8210783
Abstract: The invention relates to a threaded fastener. In particular, the invention relates to a threaded fastener such as a nut or a bolt. In an embodiment of the invention, a threaded fastener in the form of a nut (10) is disclosed. The nut comprises a main body portion (12); a lip portion (14) extending from the main body portion; and a recess (16) formed in the main body portion adjacent the lip portion. The recess is shaped to receive at least part of the deformable lip portion when a mating torque is applied to the fastener causing the deformable lip portion to deform. In this fashion, when the fastener is used to clamp two or more components together, such as flanges (20, 22) on adjacent pipe sections, the lip portion encounters a surface of the component that the fastener is being used to clamp against. As the fastener is torqued-up to a desired level, to provide a determined mating force, the lip portion is deformed into the recess in the main body portion.
