  • Patent number: 4105349
Abstract: Locking means comprising a plate with a plurality of spaced openings through which the free end of a flexible member, such as a rope or cord, is strung through, to form an adjustable loop exteriorly of the locking plate, so that the flexible member can serve as an anchoring, mooring, tethering or suspension line. The locking plate has a projection which engages the flexible member as tension is applied to the flexible member to prevent movement of the flexible member relative to the locking plate. The effective length of the flexible member being adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4103072
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of producing diazotype photoprinting material in which a base paper is withdrawn from a supply roll and transported through a precoating station in which a solution containing a silicon filler is applied to one side of the base paper; the paper is then transported from the precoating station past a plurality of heaters to a sensitizing station in which a solution containing a diazotype sensitizing compound is applied to one side of the base paper; the base paper is then transported past a second set of heaters to a transparentizing station in which a solution containing a water emulsion of a water clear synthetic organic resin is applied to the other side of the base paper simultaneously to render the base paper translucent and to decurl the paper; the paper is then transported past a third set of heaters to dry the paper to a moisture content of about 4% and finally is wound into a roll. A method of transparentizing any water absorbent natural fiber material is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4101233
Abstract: A mounting clip is adapted for attachment to a deck panel of a storage rack to facilitate assembly of the deck panel with apertured rack beams. The clip has a folded-over flange which cooperates with a cut-out tab to resiliently clamp therebetween an edge of an associated panel with the tab received in a complementary opening in the panel, the clip having a depending finger with a thin and narrow neck portion and an enlarged distal end portion dimensioned to permit insertion of the finger in an aperture of the associated beam but to inhibit accidental dislodgement of the finger from the aperture. An additional projection on the clip inhibits tangling and interlocking of the clips when stored in bulk and also serves to position the clip on an associated panel.

  • Patent number: 4094731
Abstract: A process for producing crystalline silicon having an iron concentration less than about one-twentieth of the iron concentration of the mother liquor. Iron contaminated silicon is introduced into a mold and the mold walls are maintained at a temperature sufficient to cause silicon crystalline growth. The mother liquor is agitated to wash the exposed surfaces of the growing silicon crystals and to prevent the freezing of the top surface of the mother liquor. A hollow crystalline silicon ingot is formed and both the inner zone centrally of the crystalline ingot and the outer zone adjacent to the mold wall are removed leaving an inner zone having an iron concentration less than one-twentieth of the iron concentration of the original mother liquor.

  • Patent number: 4094190
Abstract: A transducer produces a sequence of pulses corresponding to the compressions in the chambers of an internal combustion engine. Gating signals are produced in substantial time coincidence with these compression pulses. A number of channels are coupled in parallel corresponding to the number of chambers of which compression is to be measured. The channels are successively rendered operative by the gating signals which detect the amplitude of the compression pulses, by peak detection or counting clock pulses, for example. An annunciator is coupled to the several channels to express sequentially the information stored therein.

  • Patent number: 4095170
Abstract: The ignition advance measuring device for internal combustion engines comprises a strobe lamp, a sawtooth generator and a threshold detector coupled to the generator. When the instantaneous amplitude of the sawtooth signal reaches a predetermined fixed value, the threshold detector produces a switching voltage. The switching voltage is fed back to the input of the sawtooth generator to initiate the rising portion of the sawtooth cycle. The falling portion of each cycle is initiated by the spark plug firing voltage. A knob calibrated in degrees of engine rotation is mechanically coupled to an adjustable circuit element in the sawtooth generator, which varies the duration of the falling portion of the sawtooth signal, thereby controlling delay between the occurrence of a spark and energization of the strobe lamp. The threshold level of the detector and the characteristics of the sawtooth signal itself are independent of average engine speed.

  • Patent number: 4086438
Abstract: Described herein is a system for automatically providing interconnections among a plurality of telephone lines serving a subscriber station all under the control of a remote caller. An incoming call to the system is automatically answered, and the incoming line is then connected to an outgoing line either immediately or in response to tone or pulse dialing signals dialed in by the caller. Upon receipt of dial tone on the outgoing line the caller can dial out a call thereon directly from his remote calling location. If dial tone persists on either line for a predetermined time all lines are automatically disconnected. By dialing his own number on the outgoing line and then hanging up, the caller can have the system call him back on the outgoing line, after which he can dial in control signals on the outgoing line to reconnect it to either the original incoming line or another line to dial out calls thereon.

  • Patent number: 4084138
Abstract: The encoder in such system generates a sequence of tones in which every other tone is selected from a first group of tones in one band of frequencies, and the remaining tones in the sequence are selected from a second group of tones in another band of frequencies. The tones in the second group are respectively harmonically related to the tones in the first group, such as having frequencies double the respective frequencies of the tones in such second group. The tones are generated by an oscillator in the encoder, every other tone being multiplied by 1/2, for example. Circuitry, coupled to the oscillator and to the multiplier, alternately delivers the divided and undivided tones, to create the afore-mentioned sequence of tones. The oscillator has associated therewith a switchable impedance, predetermined amounts of which are sequentially switched into the oscillator to cause it to produce the sequence of tones.
