Abstract: An embossed metal foil laminate is prepared by laminating a metal foil to a paper web, utilizing an extrusion coated resin interlayer therebetween, by passing the layered structure between a nip roll and an engraved chill roll. The metal foil quickly conducts heat energy from the molten resin layer to the chill roll, allowing the process to be run at a high speed. The engraved chill roll impresses a pattern into the metal foil during the lamination operation.
Abstract: An oxygenate additive analyzer is provided which detects and determines the presence of oxygen enhancing additives in gasoline or other fuels. The oxygenate additive analyzer includes a portable electronic controller with a fuel cell connected to the controller by a ribbon cable. In operation, a sample of the fuel to be tested is placed in the fuel cell and electrical control signals are transmitted between the controller and the fuel cell. The analyzer measures the direct current conductivity, resonant frequency, and temperature, and such data is analyzed on the unique software system in the microprocessor of the controller. Upon the completion of the fuel analysis, the controller displays the percentage, if any, of added oxygen by weight, lists probable oxygenates as a percentage of volume, and shows the temperature of the fuel sample. The analyzer is a portable unit with a battery power supply.
Abstract: A drainage system for a roof gutter and downspout wherein the water and debris from the gutter are directed into a housing divided into two chambers by a perforated wall which permits water to flow therethrough which the debris prevented to travel therethrough.
Abstract: A condensate drain for an automatc sprinkler system of the dry-pipe type wherein the drain includes a one piece reservoir having a central chamber and tapering inlet and outlet chambers.
Abstract: An asphalt and heavy oil degreaser comprises a cyclic hydrocarbon solvent, dipropylene glycol mono n-butyl ether, a volatility stabilizer, a salt of an alkyl aromatic sulfonic acid, a branched alcohol ethoxylate, and an ethoxylated alkyl mercaptan.
Abstract: A separator cartridge comprises a support screen comprising a substantially rigid reinforced plastic cylinder including an inner first major surface and an outer second major surface, a first nonwoven polymer layer adhered to the inner first major surface of the support screen, a second nonwoven polymer layer adhered to the outer second major surface of the support screen, and a polymeric screen contacting and frictionally engaging the second nonwoven polymer layer, the polymeric screen including a hydrophobic coating. The invention also contemplates a process for preparing the separator cartridge.
Abstract: A double-walled container is formed by gas assist injection molding. Thereafter, the container is further processed by 1) inserting a gas between the container layers, 2) injecting a colored liquid between the container layers, 3) evacuating the void space between the container layers, or 4) pressurizing the space between the container layers.
Abstract: A process for extending the shelf life of a carbonated beverage within a plastic bottle comprises placing the carbonated beverage in the plastic bottle at a temperature less than about 72.degree. F., maintaining the temperature of the carbonated beverage at less than about 72.degree. F. for a time sufficient to convey the plastic bottle to an unrefrigerated, insulated container, and inserting the plastic bottle into the container.
Abstract: A hypodermic syringe is disclosed wherein the medicine in the outlet tube leading to the hollow needle is caused to be injected into the patient. The expulsion of the fluid medicine from the outlet tube of the syringe is accomplished by an auxiliary piston which is normally carried by a primary piston. The mechanism used to force movement of the primary piston continues to drive an auxiliary piston, after the primary piston is stopped, to effectively force fluid medicine out of the outlet tube. Thereby, the amount of fluid medicine which may be discarded will lessen considerably.
Abstract: A composite sheathing material comprises a first layer of paperboard having a layer of a permeable resin on a surface thereof, a core layer of paperboard, a first adhesive layer positioned intermediate and adhered to the first layer of paperboard and the core layer of paperboard, said first adhesive layer comprising a controlled distribution of thicker and thinner adhesive portions, a second layer of paperboard having a second layer of a permeable resin on a surface thereof, and a second adhesive layer positioned intermediate and adhered to the second layer of paperboard and the core layer of paperboard, said second adhesive layer comprising a controlled distribution of thicker and thinner adhesive portions.
Abstract: A shelf assembly for displaying produce such as prepackaged salads wherein the shelf assembly includes at least two panels and two telescoping arms. The panels are movably supported by the arms with one of the panels at least partially overlapping the other panel. Each of the panels is provided with a plurality of spaced apart apertures extending therethrough. When the panels are arranged to overlap one another, the apertures in the panels align with one another to permit air to circulate therethrough.
