Abstract: New oxide phosphors based on doped gallium oxides, alkaline earth gallates and germanates for electoluminescent display materials. Bright orange red electroluminescence has been obtained in amorphous and crystalline oxides Ga.sub.2 O.sub.3 :Eu for the first time. SrGa.sub.2 O.sub.4 and SrGa.sub.4 O.sub.9 doped with 1-8 mole % of Eu and Tb, CaGa.sub.2 O.sub.4, Ca.sub.3 Ga.sub.2 O.sub.8 and CaGa.sub.4 O.sub.7 doped with 1-4 mole % of Eu, Tb, Pr and Dy, BaGa.sub.2 O.sub.4 doped with 1-2 mole % of Eu and Tb, have been prepared using RF magnetron sputtering onto ceramic dielectric substrates and annealed at 600.degree. C.-950.degree. C. in air or Ar for 1-2 hours. Bright electroluminescent (EL) emission was obtained with wavelengths covering the visible spectrum from 400 to 700 nm, and infrared emission above 700 nm with spectral peaks characteristic of rare earth transitions. The films of CaGa.sub.2 O.sub.4 with 1 mole % Eu achieved 22 fL (75 cd/m.sup.2) at 60 Hz and had a maximum efficiency of 0.
Abstract: The present invention provides heat exchange devices for heating and/or cooling parts of the body for therapeutic treatment of injury. The heat exchange devices include a cooling module with a housing enclosing a cooling chamber. A thermoelectric Peltier unit has a cooled surface sealed against an opening in the housing and a pump is provided for pumping heat exchange fluid through the cooling chamber directly into contact with the cooled surface and through conduits to a patient blanket. A reservoir containing refrigerant is in flow communication with the chamber in the cooling module housing and refrigerant only flows into the housing when depleted from the recirculation flow path between the cooling module and the blanket. Another device uses a thermoelectric unit disposed between two water pumps each of which pumps water to different sections of a flexible water bag which is strapped to the affected area of the user.

Abstract: A bracket for index tabs of hanging file folders comprising a transparent sleeve and an element secured to the file folder, characterized by the fact that the sleeve can be directionally positioned by pivoting around a more or less vertical axis. The bracket may be provided with a structure to immobilize the sleeve directionally positioned in relation to its pivot axis which may be provided with notches suitable for interacting with at least one stop pin on the element.
Abstract: A process for assembling and an epicyclic reduction gear comprising a plurality of planets provided with outer toothings moveable rotatable about a shaft which are engaged with the toothings of, at least one adjacent gear ring. The shaft of the planets is mounted on a planet-holder so that it is adapted to move with respect to said planet-holder both radially and angularly in a plane perpendicular to the principal shaft of the reduction gear. The rotation shaft of each planet may be radially and angularly adjusted to a position where its outer toothing meshes with the toothing of the adjacent gear ring and may thereafter be secured in position.
Abstract: A locking device for weapons or similar structures with an elongated hollow body intended to fit into the barrel of the weapon. The body is provided with at least two telescoping parts. A locking device is inserted in the body and is expandable in such a way that the body is fixedly locked in the barrel. The locking device includes locking members arranged around the periphery of one part and another part presses the locking members radially outwards against the inner barrel surface when the parts are urged toward one another in an attempt to press the locking device out of the weapon.
Abstract: A handle for a mattress border is anchored with spaced grommets in the border against which anchors on the handle ends may bear. The anchors are designed to allow a leading end of the handle to be drawn through a grommet opening. A back strap between the grommet openings is shaped to allow clamping to move the grommet openings to aligned position. To allow the drawing of the anchors through the grommet openings, at least one of the anchors is provided with first coupling means. A puller rod is designed to be inserted through at least one of the grommet openings. The puller rod is provided with second coupling means, designed to cooperate with the first coupling means to achieve the pulling function.
Abstract: Relay switching circuits for supplying power to a vehicle exterior lighting system to provide for daytime running lights and which are controlled by solid state logic circuits, depending upon the condition of either or both of the vehicle starter and ignition switches.
Abstract: A three position weave system selection device for a weaving loom which includes two superposed electromagnets adapted to be selectively activated to control the position of at least one lever articulated relative to the electromagnets. The at least one lever is provided with two magnetic armatures adapted to cooperate selectively with the two electromagnets so as to generate three positions of the at least one lever relative to two mobile hooks of a harness system of the weaving loom.
Abstract: A modular animal perch is disclosed. It is designed primarily for use by cats but it may be adapted for use by other domestic animals. The modular cat perch includes at least one scratching/climbing panel and at least one horizontal surface. The panel has a top portion, a bottom portion, vertical edge portions, an outer surface and an inner surface and extends upwardly from the floor. The horizontal surface is adapted for use by the animal so that it can perch thereon. The horizontal surface is attached to the at least one scratching/climbing panel. The scratching/climbing panel is attached to the wall. Preferably there is a cap which extends around the top most top portion of the scratching/climbing panel. Preferably there is a base which extends around the bottom most bottom portion of the scratching/climbing panel. The scratching/climbing panel together with the cap and base form a column like structure which has an appearance of a Greek or Roman type column.
Abstract: Implement for removing parasitic ticks from the skin of animals or humans, characterized in that it is a one-piece device comprising a handle (3) ending in a grip portion (1,2) of circular cross-section, and a curved and flattened end with a forked tip (4) substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis of the grip (1,2), said forked tip (4) having two tines (5) defining an inter-tine (6) gap for gripping the tick, wherein the implement is capable of removing the tick by rotating about an axis substantially perpendicular to the plane of the skin to which it is attached.
Abstract: A reversible expansion locking element for selectively securing two tubes or rods in telescoping relationship with respect to one another wherein the element has oppositely oriented outwardly expandable conical threaded portions separated by a central protrusion. The expansion element is receivable within a first hollow tube and is adapted to receive a threaded end of the other tube or rod.
Abstract: A spray tube for a pressurized dispenser is secured within an orifice of a spray nozzle using a coiled retention member which is selectively rotated about the spray nozzle to engage the spray tube between spaced turns of the coiled member.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method enabling segregation of the various ingredients making up the polymer based products into component product streams and collection of these component streams so as to form individual product streams. Thus, according to this invention there is provided a process for purposefully segregating polymer-polymer and polymer-additive mixtures. The process for segregating the various combinations of components may be advantageously used on the one hand for the production of separate product streams from a mixture of polymers or polymer-additives in, for example, recycling of waste plastic based products, or on the other hand, in the production of polymer-polymer or polymer-additive layered structures exhibiting preselected spatial segregation of the various components. In its simplest form, the polymer segregation part of the process consists of a tube added to an extruder. During segregation, polymer layers containing different blend compositions are formed.
