    Abstract: Compositions and methods for their use in modulating animal cellular responses are disclosed. The compositions include as an active agent an effective amount of an 8-substitued guanine derivative bonded 9-1' to an aldose having 5 or 6 carbon atoms in the aldose chain. The composition includes a diluent amount of a physiologically tolerable carrier. The guanine derivative is free of electrically charged functioinality, while the 8-substituent has an electron withdrawing inductive effect greater than that of hydrogen and contains fewer than about 15 atoms. Animal cellular responses are modulated by contacting the cells with a composition of this invention.

    Abstract: A precision thick film resistor has a deposited thick film conducting layer which is adjacent to and in contact with a deposited thick film resistive layer. A laser scribed line, having a width on the order of 2 mils, separates the conductive region into two parts and then extends into the resistive layer. The value of the resistor is set based on the extent that the line extends into the resistive layer. A plurality of thick film conducting elements can be formed by depositing a continuously extending thick film conducting layer on a substrate. Laser scribed lines can be used to isolate various conducting elements in the deposited film from one another. Elements are separated from one another by 2 mil wide laser scribed lines.

    Abstract: An infeed assembly for an axial-flow combine arranged at a forward end of a rotor which is mounted within a casing defining a transition section at a forward end thereof. The transition section has a series of spiral transport vanes on an inner surface thereof. The infeed assembly is comprised of a series of equally spaced blades. Each blade has a leading edge, an outer edge, and a material engaging surface. The leading edge of the blade, which is peripherally rounded, is swept back relative to the given direction of rotor rotation. The outer blade edge extends from the leading edge and angles relative to the transport vanes in varying degrees as the blade extends rearwardly from the leading edge. The material engaging surface of the blade has a generally concave shaped section extending axially rearward from the leading edge of the blade and which extends into a relatively flat shape section.

    Abstract: An idler sprocket mount including a pair of modular block assemblies for mounting an idler sprocket for endwise sliding movement generally parallel to a track frame of a crawler tractor. Each block assembly defines a horizontally elongated channel allowing for endwise sliding movement of the frame therethrough to permit the idler sprocket to recoil parallel to the track frame. The elongated channel includes at least one bearing surface along which a wear surface of the track frame slides. A spring biased assembly provides a substantially constant vertically directed force against the frame to resiliently urge the wear surface against the bearing surface of the channel thereby automatically compensating for wear between the interfacing surface and inhibiting vertical bounce of the idler sprocket relative to the track frame.

The cross segments formed with such tabs are slitted so as to define a series of frangible bridges, which are staggered transversely, and which can be easily torn by a user pulling on such tabs.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a lubrication system for an agricultural implement such as a cotton harvester having a plurality of harvesting units mounted thereon. Each harvesting unit of the cotton harvester includes a harvesting mechanism whose operation is facilitated by supplying lubricant thereto. The lubrication system preferably includes an on-board grease reservoir with a constant displacement pump assembly having an input connected to the reservoir and an output for providing lubricant under pressure to the harvesting mechanisms of each harvesting unit. The pump assembly is operated under the influence of a controller which operates the pump for a preselected period of time thereby causing preselected amounts of pressurized lubricant to be provided to the harvesting mechanism of each harvesting unit.

    Abstract: In an adjustable chuck for gripping workpieces of different sizes, three jaws are mounted for relative movement. A hydraulically driven mechanism is operable selectively for closing the jaws to grip a workpiece and for opening the jaws to free the workpiece. Two strain gauges on one of the jaws sense the gripping force applied by the jaws to the workpiece. A computer, which responds to the strain gauges, coacts with a control relay and with hydraulic valves to control flow of hydraulic fluid into and from the closing and opening mechanism. A system comprising a plurality of such chucks is contemplated, in which one computer coacts therewith to control the closing and opening mechanism of any selected chuck of the system, and which adjusts itself for minor variations among the system chucks.
