  • Patent number: 5162189
Abstract: Pressure-sensitive, heat-fusible, encapsulated toner particles are provided which have very uniform size and physical characteristics. A method for making the particles is provided wherein a latex copolymer functions as a stabilizer controlling particle size of the core composition of the toner particles. The latex copolymer becomes the shell composition thereof. The particles are particularly useful in a process for transferring a toned image comprised of such particles from a photoconductor to a receiver.

  • Patent number: 5159148
Abstract: The invention relates to a recoil suppressing mount for an automatic weapon. The mount consists of a cradle assembly supported by a pin assembly to a fork means. There are also provided shock absorber means connecting the inner cradle relative to the outer cradle. The pin and shock absorbers are arranged so that the recoil forces from the weapon are substantially suppressed to prevent the transfer of moment forces from the weapon to the outer cradle to maintain the weapon in the sight line during firing.

  • Patent number: 5158124
Abstract: A machine for cutting off the waste end portions of semi-circular or semi-elliptical members used for framing windows. The curved members are held in the desired fixed relationship by clamping members and saw mechanisms are transversely movable adjacent each end to perform the cutting action. When two halves are to be cut simultaneously they are clamped in transversely spaced relationship so the ends are cut during one pass to insure that the two halves will accurately form a full frame assembly.

  • Patent number: 5156742
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for treating liquor containing biodegradable wastes wherein the liquor is first delivered to a quiescent primary settling zone and then to an aeration zone. The aerated liquor is delivered downwardly through a column of submerged fixed media having a high surface area to volume ratio so that aerobic microorganisms can grow on their surface. The liquor is recirculated through the aeration zone and fixed media, and is withdrawn from the unit after treatment. A portion of the aerated liquor from the top of the fixed media is recycled back into the primary settling zone to denitrify the nitrate rich aerated liquor by deoxygenating the dissolved nitrates and to equalize the BOD load in the secondary aerobic treatment zone.

  • Patent number: 5154160
Abstract: An automated conveyorized oven includes a radiant heater assembly including a plurality of gas-fired radiant heaters positioned beneath the oven conveyor. Each heater assembly includes radiant heating elements in the form of perforate metallic plates, at the outer surface of which combustion takes place for elevating the temperature of the plates for generating radiant heat. Consistent and reliable operation is promoted by the provision of a control arrangement which acts to preclude flashback combustion upstream of the surface of the metallic heating elements, with the controls being operable to permit sufficient time for the heating elements to cool, after interruption of the gas supply thereto, before gas is resupplied to the heater units.

  • Patent number: 5154687
Abstract: A rotary accumulator for folded beams of corrugated paperboard with adhesive applied thereto, such as pallet stringers or decking members, comprises a conveyor for feeding the beams longitudinally with spaces therebetween, a generally circular array of beam holders mounted to a rotary framework for receiving each beam in one holder, for holding such beam in a desired configuration for a finite time to allow adhesive applied thereto to cure, and for releasing such beam thereafter, a mechanism for indexing the holders in a generally circular path, and a longitudinal member for removing each beam from the beam holder holding such beam when such beam engages such members as the holders are being indexed. The mechanism is powered by a pneumatically powered piston-cylinder mechanism, which drives an escapement mechanism, or by an electric motor. Certain sensing and detecting devices are provided for controlling the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5152116
Abstract: A shutter assembly of modular members molded or extruded from a polymeric material. Each of two side rails has a front wall and an inner wall defining a channel portion. Each of upper, and lower frame members and two louvered panel members has runners or mounting flanges extending along the sides thereof. The channel portion of each side rail has a base leg projecting from the side rail, a second leg projecting from the base leg, and a third leg projecting from the second leg toward the side rail. The third leg is spaced from the side rail by a distance approximating the mounting flange thickness when the channel portion is unstressed. The base leg flange has a groove defining a hinge. The channel portion defines a flexible mounting channel accommodating the mounting flanges despite minor dimensional variations.

  • Patent number: 5150483
Abstract: An attachment for a toilet seat is provided which ensures that a toilet seat may not be left in the upright position. An arm attaches to one side of the toilet seat and projects downwardly outside the toilet bowl. The toilet seat is arranged so that it will always fall forward from any position due to the force of gravity on the seat and the leverage caused by the weight of the arm. An optional stop mechanism is provided to limit the rearward travel of the toilet seat to ensure that the seat will always fall forward. In use, the toilet seat is held in the upright position by resting the arm against the user's leg.

  • Patent number: 5149577
Abstract: A dual purpose stencil-forming sheet is provided comprising an ink-pervious fibrous tissue base having an ink-impervious impregnant therethrough, which impregnant is relatively non-bleeding and contains a red pigment. In a composite where the stencil-forming sheet is in contact with a white or pastel underlying backing sheet, the striking of a key or pin onto the stencil-forming sheet through a black inked ribbon simultaneously cuts the stencil, leaves a black marking on the cut stencil and leaves a red marking on the white or pastel backing sheet.

  • Patent number: 5148208
Abstract: A disposable container in the shape of a bottle made of molded polyethylene plastic serves as a reservoir for a photographic development liquid, that is circulated between the container's reservoir and a machine. The container has large planar sides to which good thermal contact is made by electrical heating pads for the purpose of heating the liquid within the container's reservoir. A substantially planar top surface of the container defines a central outlet aperture. This aperture connects to a feed tube which extends into the container's reservoir. The container is mounted upright to the machine's bottom surface by a screw collar. The machine's bottom surface is complementary to, and mates with, the container's top surface. A fluid-tight compressive seal is made in a first annular region about the container's central aperture by means of an O ring or gasket.
