  • Patent number: 5228522
Abstract: A agricultural implement incorporates a frame which is adapted to engage a three point hitch of a tractor. The frame employs a longitudinally extending member which is pivotally connected to a link member. A resilient yielding assembly is disposed between the longitudinally extending member and the link member to absorb forces exerted from the link member onto the longitudinally extended member. Accordingly, when the link is acted upon by forces which cause the link to exert a stress on the three point hitch of a tractor, the resilient yielding assembly allows the first link to pivot about the longitudinal member thereby reducing compressive loads exerted on the upper link of the tractor's three point hitch.

  • Patent number: 5226280
Abstract: An apparatus for placing corner protectors having elongate panels meeting at right angles onto vertical corners of pallet loads having vertical sides defining vertical corner comprises a magazine to hold a supply of the corner protectors and mechanisms for removing one corner protector from the magazine, transferring the corner protector to a position where one of its panels is disposed in close proximity to a vertical side of such a load, and displacing the corner protector until its other panel engages another side at the same corner of the load. In the magazine, the corner protectors extend vertically and are nested within one another. Also, the corner protectors are guided forwardly along a supporting chute. A wheeled carriage having an upright member is mounted operatively in the chute and prevents the corner protectors from tipping backwards.

  • Patent number: 5222578
Abstract: A safety brake of the type for use in hoist. As a hoist cage descends or ascends faster than a predetermined safety speed, a corresponding high speed motion is transmitted to a main shaft of the safety brake through a input pinion gear connected to the main shaft for engagement with a vertical rack attached to a hoist tower. Movable braking disks are attached to the main shaft for rotation therewith. Fixed braking disks are interleaved with the movable disks. Such high speed motion causes a dog retained in the main shaft to centrifugally move outwardly to engage the drum. The actuator assembly connected to the drum acts to cause the drum to move against the fixed and movable braking disks.

  • Patent number: 5219989
Abstract: A protein comprising at least a first functional site having the ability to bind the cap structure of mRNA and a second functional site having the ability to bind a solid support matrix in such a manner as to allow the first functional site to be immobilized and still remain functionally accessible to interact with the cap structure of mRNA. Also within the scope of the present invention is a method for generating a cDNA library mostly containing full-length cDNAs. The method comprises the incubation of a mixture comprising mRNA:cDNA hybrids with 1) a single strand RNA specific nuclease and 2) the above-mentioned protein. The resulting mixture is then passed through a column comprising a support matrix having the ability to bind the second functional site of the above-mentioned protein in order to selectively bind complete mRNA:cDNA hybrids. The mRNA:cDNA hybrids are then competitively eluted with a cap analog and full-length cDNA strands are separated and recovered.
