  • Patent number: 5207871
Abstract: A composition which is cured upon exposure to ultraviolet light in the absence of solvent is disclosed. The liquid composition is prepared by combining a liquid maleate polyester and at least one of a vinyl compound and an allyl functional compound. A photoinitiator is then added to the polymerizable liquid composition. A substrate is impregnated with the polymerizable liquid composition and exposed to actinic energy of a sufficient dosage for a sufficient amount of time to polymerize the composition to a sufficient degree to impart useful properties to the substrate. The composition can be used as a binder for fiberglass insulation, in the manufacture of transparent or semi-transparent paper and to manufacture paper for use in photocopy machines.

  • Patent number: 5206900
Abstract: A device and method for interfacing a telephone to the telephone network is disclosed for receiving the ICLID of incoming telephone calls and responding in a predetermined manner. An ICLID receiver detects the presence or absence of the ICLID of an incoming telephone call, and receives the ICLID if present. In accordance with predetermined instructions and with the absence of an ICLID or the presence and identity of the ICLID, the device may acknowledge receipt of the ICLID to the incoming caller by generating a brief confirmation tone at minimum charge to the calling party, cause the incoming call to be answered or not answered, and may forward the incoming ICLID information to a predetermined location over the telephone network or by other means.

  • Patent number: 5203541
Abstract: A tensioning mechanism for a strapping tool. The tensioning mechanism comprises a housing structure, a shaft mounted rotatably to the shaft, a handle coupled to the shaft, and a coupler for coupling the handle to the shaft. The handle is a tension-sensing handle comprising plural members capable of pivotal movement relative to each other and biased in such manner that tension limits can be user-adjusted within a separately adjustable range. Pivotal movement of the handle is limited in such manner that the handle cannot be further pivoted, even in small increments, after sufficient tension has been sensed by the handle.

  • Patent number: 5201440
Abstract: A container closure includes a body for mounting on the container. The body defines a dispensing orifice. A flow control device, such as a lid, is disposed on the body for being moved between positions opening and closing the dispensing orifice. A tamper-indicating member is provided as a unitary extension from the lid. A first frangible web connects the member to the lid. An anchor is connected with a second frangible web to another portion of the tamper-indicating member, and the anchor is retained by the closure body. The tamper-indicating member also includes a graspable pull tab. The tab can be pulled to completely sever the frangible webs connecting the tamper-indicating member to the lid and to the anchor. This permits the lid to be opened while providing evidence of tampering with the closure.

  • Patent number: 5200624
Abstract: A wide angle passive infrared energy sensor includes an infrared transducer. Energy in the field of view which is essentially normal to the transducer impinges directly on the transducer which can in turn generate an electrical signal in response thereto. Radiant energy at the peripheral regions of the field of view, on the order of 90.degree. with respect to a center line normal to the detector, is parabolically reflected onto the detector.

  • Patent number: 5197201
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for drying timber in which the timber is fed gradually through a drying tunnel while at the same time being permeated by a drying air with a temperature below 80.degree. C. transported primarily in the longitudinal direction of the tunnel. Said drying tunnel is divided into two separate sections with said drying air divided into two circulating substreams, of which one flows through the first section of the tunnel in the direction of motion of the timber and the other through the second section of the tunnel contrary to the direction of motion of the timber, after which said substreams are conditioned and returned to their section.

  • Patent number: 5197347
Abstract: A control system including interfaced hand and foot control assemblies for independently conditioning an off-highway implement by selectively positioning a regulator thereof relative a neutral position. The hand and foot control assemblies utilize a common force transfer mechanism in the form of a push/pull cable for moving and positioning the regulator. The foot control assembly includes a self-centered foot pedal and linkages for arranging the push/pull cable relative to the regulator in a manner inhibiting binding forces from being imparted to the cable. The hand control assembly requires independent movement of a control lever in two different planes to shift the hand control assembly from a neutral condition. Moreover, the hand control assembly is isolated from spring forces acting to self center the foot pedal and thus requires low operator efforts to adjust the position of the regulator. The control system of the present invention further includes a mechanism for governing operation of the regulator.

  • Patent number: 5195864
Abstract: A hydraulic system for a wheel loader having an implement arranged for elevational and tilting movements relative to a frame of the loader. The hydraulic system includes selectively operable lifting and tilting circuitry for adjusting the position of the implement and a shock absorbing mechanism arranged in combination with the lift circuitry for allowing relative movement between the implement and the frame to provide a cushioning effect which reduces pitching of the loader. To inhibit inadvertent vertical displacement of the implement, the shock absorbing mechanism is responsive to an initial lifting action of the implement. In a preferred form of the invention, the shock absorbing mechanism is responsive to hydraulic conditions indicative of imminent tilting movement of the implement thereby eliminating inadvertent vertical displacement of the implement when the implement reaches a limit of its tilting travel.

  • Patent number: 5196122
Abstract: A method for regenerating exhausted anion and cation exchange resins for service in an associated mixed bed demineralizer. The method utilizes a portion of the exhausted anion and cation resins to form buffer zones which reduce cross-contamination between the anion and cation resins during regeneration. Alternatively, a relatively inert material having a specific density intermediate to that of the anion and cation resins can be used to form the buffer zones. The materials which form the buffer zones remain in the regeneration system and are not returned to the service vessels with the regenerated resin. The method includes an improved technique for terminating the transfer of cation resin from a separation vessel.
