  • Patent number: 8301160
Abstract: A system and method for assisting the H-SLP is selecting a V-SLP using the HELD client of a SET. The SET receives identity information from an access network regarding associated LIS. The SET relays this information as well as measurements taken of the wireless network to the H-SLP. If the H-SLP does not contain enough information to determine a location estimate, the H-SLP uses the identity information from the access network to find an associated SLP that may serve as a V-SLP. A request using roaming location protocol may then be transmitted from the H-SLP to the V-SLP for location assistance.

  • Patent number: 8298650
Abstract: This invention describes a decorative surface covering comprising at least one decorative layer and a backing layer comprising a patterned array of elastomeric, geometric projections, wherein each geometric projection comprises a concave exposed surface, an outside wall surface and an inside wall surface wherein the inside wall surface defines a hollow area within the projection. When the decorative surface covering is installed over an underlying surface, and pressure is applied to the decorative surface covering, a vacuum is created within the hollow area of the projections and the underlying surface. The vacuum increases the amount of frictional drag between the surface covering and the underlying surface, and thus allows the surface covering to remain in place without the need for an adhesive.

  • Patent number: 8299961
Abstract: A system and method for determining one or more satellites in view of a wireless device. A request for satellite assistance data may be received from a requesting entity and a reference location determined as a function of the request. A set of satellites may be determined as a function of the reference location. Subsequent cached information may be determined for each satellite in the set of satellites if cached information already existing for each satellite in the set of satellites has been cached for greater than a predetermined time period. This subsequent cached information may then replace the previously existing cached information for the reference location. One or more satellites in view of the wireless device may then be determined as a function of either the subsequent cached information or previously existing cached information, and assistance data may be provided to the requesting entity to determine an estimated location of the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 8294124
Abstract: An ion implanter system has a movable wafer support for holding a semiconductor wafer and a beam source that generates a beam for implanting ions in the semiconductor wafer while the wafer is moving. A plurality of path segments are identified, through which the wafer support is to move to expose the semiconductor wafer to the ion beam. A first position and a second position are identified for each respective one of the plurality of path segments, such that, when the wafer is in each first position and each second position, a perimeter of the beam projected in a plane of the wafer is tangent to a perimeter of the wafer. The ion implanter is configured to automatically move the wafer along each of the plurality of path segments, starting at the respective first position on each respective path segment and stopping at the respective second position on the same segment, so as to expose the wafer to the beam for implanting ions in the wafer.

  • Patent number: 8290494
Abstract: A communication path between base stations connected via a network is switched so that data received by a mobile station that is during handover is not interrupted. A mobile station (14-1) which has started a radio communication with a handover destination base station (12-2) switches a acquisition destination of data transmitted from a mobile station (14-2) with which the mobile station (14-1) communicates from a handover source base station (12-1) to the handover destination base station (12-2). After this, the mobile station (14-1) transmits a communication path switching request to a base station (12-3) which performs a radio communication with the mobile station (14-2). In response to the communication path switching request transmitted from the mobile station (14-1), the base station (12-3) releases an RTP session established with respect to the handover source base station (12-1).

  • Patent number: 8289210
Abstract: A disclosed method uses the results of location queries to tune the value of measurements of a property to obtain a statistically representative measurement for geo location. As location requests arrive, a current measurement value associated with the serving area or location is used to determine the number of measurements to obtained; the resulting uncertainty is mapped against the number of measurements required to determine that value. If additional measurements are required to achieve the target uncertainty in the result, this is recorded. The process relies on empirical observations and has the additional advantage of being blind to the actual network topology. This approach by its own nature automatically takes into account network changes whether known or unknown.
