Abstract: A shipping carton including a box assembly and a plurality of floral grouping assemblies. The box assembly has a inner surface partially enclosing a retaining space. An adhesive or cohesive is applied to at least a portion of the inner surface of the box assembly. The floral grouping assemblies are disposed in the retaining space and a portion of each of the floral grouping assemblies is removably and adhesively or cohesively connected to the box assembly for preventing substantial movement of the floral grouping assemblies during shipment.

Abstract: A material dispenser for dispensing sheets of material with an adhesive applied thereto. The material is passed through a material applicator and the material applicator includes a contact portion with adhesive in contact with a portion of the material for applying adhesive to the material. The material in one embodiment is a non-heat sealable, non-shape sustaining material and the material is wrapped about a floral grouping.

Abstract: Oxidation/reduction processes catalyzed by soluble rhodium complexes of the type (L.sub.4or5 Rh)Z.sup.- wherein each L is selected from a group consisting essentially of monophosphines, diphosphines, olefins and coordinating solvents with the proviso that at least one L is a phosphine and Z is a weakly coordinating anion. In one embodiment, formic acid is produced by the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide. In another embodiment oxygen/carbon dioxide mixtures are used to oxidize organic compounds (ethers, amines, olefins) with coproduction of formic acid. In a third embodiment, these organic compounds are selectively oxidized by oxygen alone, without the coproduction of formic acid.

Abstract: An article forming system for forming at least one sheet of material into an article, such as a decorative flower pot cover for example. The article forming system includes a male die and a female die. A sheet of material is automatically moved to a loaded position between the male and female dies and then the male and female dies are moved to a forming position for forming the article. The formed articles are automatically stacked.
Abstract: A top-entry check valve having a seat, cage, disc and removable bonnet utilizes a retainer ring to prevent movement of the seat, cage and disc in the downstream direction. An annular shoulder in the valve body prevents movement of the seat, cage and disc in the upstream direction. The disc has a hinge pin which is cradled in hinge pin supports of the cage to hold the disc in place. The retainer ring is secured in the valve body by fitting into a transverse groove formed in the inside surface of the valve body. Removal of the bonnet allows access to the valve chamber for replacement of the seat, cage, disc or retainer ring.
Abstract: A method for using laser Doppler velocimetry to determine the mass flux (mass per area per time) of a polymer fiber stream without interfering with the flow of the fiber stream wherein a factor is determined for converting laser data rate information into stream flow mass flux values and to determine the diameter of a filament by measuring filament velocity without interfering with the flow of the filament.

Abstract: A torque bar suspension scale having a platform for supporting objects to be weighed and a pair of torque bars with each torque bar being disposed at an opposite end of the platform. Strap assemblies are connected to the platform, the torque bars and a frame whereby the torque bars are rotated in response to a weight being disposed on the platform. Each strap assembly comprises a strap having a rectangularly shaped cross section.
Abstract: A method of forming a sheet of material into a flower pot or flower pot cover comprising means for engaging portions of the sheet of material and forming pleats in predetermined portions of the sheet of material having a predetermined shape whereby the formed flower pot or flower pot cover has pleats in predetermined portions and of predetermined shapes.

Abstract: A flower pot or flower pot cover comprising a base and a skirt connected to an upper end of the base. The base includes a plurality of overlapping folds for providing structural integrity. The base is divided into a plurality of segments with each segment extending generally between the upper and the lower end of the base and each segment extending a distance circumferentially about the base. The overlapping folds in some of the segments are connected and the overlapping folds in the remaining segments are unconnected to provide an overall pleated appearance.
