  • Patent number: 5725697
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cold-rolled can steel sheet having less planar anisotropy and achieving good workability. Rough-rolling is first performed on a continuously-cast slab. The slab has a composition essentially consisting of: C: 0.004 wt % or lower; Mn: 0.05-0.5 wt %; P: 0.02 wt % or lower; Al: 0.005-0.07 wt %; N: 0.004 wt % or lower; and Nb: 0.001-0.018 wt %, the rest being Fe and unavoidable impurities. A resultant sheet bar is then subjected to hot rolling which is completed at a finishing rolling temperature at an Ar.sub.3 transformation point or higher. The resultant sheet bar is coiled at a temperature range from 450.degree.-700.degree. C. Subsequently, the resultant sheet bar undergoes primary cold rolling before continuous annealing, which is performed at a recrystallization temperature or higher, and secondary cold rolling. The primary and secondary cold rolling are respectively performed at reduction ratios satisfying the following conditions of:88%.gtoreq.CR.sub.1 %+0.36.times.CR.sub.2 .

  • Patent number: 5722281
Abstract: An automobile steering rack manufacturing apparatus has a material clamp for holding a hollow pipe-like rack material that has a solid core bar inserted therein. A forming roll on the apparatus has an outer periphery with rack teeth formed thereon, while a material drive causes a mutual rolling of the material clamp and the forming roll, thereby cutting rack teeth into the material. The clamp moves in the tangential direction of the forming roll orientation, and a tooth depth controller controls the distance between the rack material held in the material clamp, and the forming roll.

  • Patent number: 5720196
Abstract: A method for continuously hot-rolling steel pieces, includes butt-joining the rear end of the preceding steel piece and the leading end of the succeeding steel piece, then finish-rolling the butt-joined steel pieces by supplying a continuous hot rolling facility provided with a plurality of stands having a bending function of a work roll. The method involves estimating the variation of the rolling force occurring during rolling the joint of the steel pieces at the non-stationary zone caused by said joint, calculating the changing bending force of the work roll during rolling the joint of the steel pieces from the estimated variation of the rolling force, and determining the pattern for changing the bending force taking account of said changing force, and rolling the joint of the steel pieces by regulating the bending force in response to said pattern over at least one stand, while tracking down the joint of the steel piece immediately after joining.

  • Patent number: 5711865
Abstract: Electrolytic gas producer apparatus is provided wherein a water inlet has a pressure sensor and solenoid valve control passes water through a filter by pump to a reservoir. Cell chambers maintain electrolyte by supply pump and solenoid valve delivering to the cell via solenoid valves responsive to a level sensor. Gas outlet apertures extend into a polling manifold via solenoid valves and thence to a wash tank. The gas is removed from the tank via a manifold to a vacuum pump which draws the gas through a first filter including a drain line and a secondary filter for residual moisture removal. After the pump the gas passes under water in a flashback arrester filled with metal mesh. The gas then travels to a moisture removing filter and delivery pumps for delivery via intermediate solenoid valves, an outlet manifold, and final solenoid valves which control delivery to an electronically monitored outlet flashback arrester comprising infrared sensors to detect and signal a flashback condition.
