  • Patent number: 7892156
Abstract: An exercising apparatus designed to fit around a seat includes a frame that is adapted to be secured to a support. The frame is a U-shaped configuration with a lateral open area to receive the seat into the frame. One or more arms are coupled to the frame about one or more pivots. Further, the pivots allow a pivotal motion of each of the arms when a force is exerted thereto by a user. One or more resistance devices coupled to the frame and the arms, which provide resistance to the pivotal motion of each of the arms. The resistance devices, which may be a hydraulic or pneumatic piston and cylinder, may include a spring to bias the arms toward their initial, upright position.

  • Patent number: 7891602
Abstract: A retractable hose guide includes a shell assembly that is structured to be embedded into the ground. The shell assembly defines an enclosed space that is open at the top. A guide rod assembly is movably disposed within the shell assembly and structured to move between a first, retracted position, wherein the guide rod assembly is substantially disposed within the shell assembly enclosed space, and a second, extended position, wherein the guide rod assembly extends substantially above the shell assembly enclosed space. A pop-up device includes components on both the shell assembly and the guide rod assembly that act in concert to lock the guide rod assembly in either the first or second position. The pop-up device preferably includes a biasing device structured to bias the guide rod assembly toward the second, extended position. The pop-up device is structured to be actuated by a generally linear movement of the guide rod assembly.

  • Patent number: 7886921
Abstract: The invention generally relates to a closure having a cap coupled to a sleeve defining a frangible connection between the cap and the sleeve. A preselected geometry is provided between the cap and the sleeve proximate to the frangible connection which allows for formation of a clean break between the cap and the sleeve when the cap is broken away from the sleeve. An extended bead is also provided with consistent material distribution on the bead proximate to a juncture of the cap to the sleeve after the cap is broken away from the sleeve. A projection is additionally provided on the cap which projects at an angle. The projection has a generally tapering leg of reduced thickness that terminates in a vertical wall segment. The projection also has the bead that is formed located on an outer corner of the projection after the frangible connection is broken.

  • Patent number: 7879578
Abstract: The present invention provides user-directed construction of novel specific homo- and hetero-dimeric, and multimeric assemblages of proteins. The present invention is comprised of gene sequences that transcribe peptide sequences that form links between proteins, where the peptide sequences produce a hook or loop which supports specific self-assembly of homo-dimers, hetero-dimers and multimers of the proteins to which they are attached. The hook or loop may have a short aliphatic repeat sequence and a metal binding loop. The present invention also provides a method of constructing a hook motif of metal binding loop sequences that may be attached to at least one aliphatic repeat sequence to produce the assemblages of proteins. Also provided are protein structures produced by the methods of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7876225
Abstract: A transponder that may be used as an RFID tag includes a passive circuit to eliminate the need for an “always on” active RF receiving element to anticipate a wake-up signal for the balance of the transponder electronics. This solution allows the entire active transponder to have all circuit elements in a sleep (standby) state, thus drastically extending battery life or other charge storage device life. Also, a wake-up solution that reduces total energy consumption of an active transponder system by allowing all non-addressed transponders to remain in a sleep (standby) state, thereby reducing total system or collection energy. Also, the transponder and wake-up solution are employed in an asset tracking system.

  • Patent number: 7866686
Abstract: A collapsible wheelbarrow includes a rigid front bracket, a wheel rotatably secured to the front bracket, and first and second handle arms pivotably attached to the front bracket. The first and second handle arms are laterally pivotable about first and second pivot axes respectively. The first and second pivot axes are each spaced apart from the axis of rotation of the wheel. Preferably a clamping device removably applies a clamping force between the first and second handle arms and clamps a rigid tray between the first and second handle arms. The tray is preferably interconnected with the first and second handle arms to permit relative movement in a lateral direction and to prevent relative movement in a forward rearward direction. Preferably, the front bracket has spaced apart upper and lower walls and the first and second handle arms extend between the upper and lower walls.

  • Patent number: 7859245
Abstract: An apparatus outputs a vital output for a processor including an output state. The apparatus includes a first input receiving the output state, two independent circuits each of which includes a second input electrically interconnected with the first input, a third input, a fourth input and an output including the output state. • Patent number: 7857550
Abstract: The invention relates to a connection profile (10) with a constant cross-sectional shape for joining bulkheads to beam elements. The connection profile (10) comprises a center strip (12), on which a receiving profile (16) for connecting to the beam element (102) as well as a joining profile (14) for joining a lock element of the sheet pile are formed. The joining profile (14), when viewing its cross-section, comprises a straight transition section (18), which protrudes from the center strip (12) at least approximately at a right angle and which transitions into a semicircular hook section (20) pointing in the direction of the flat side. An end section (22) follows the hook section so that the transition section (18), the hook section (20) and the end section (22), together with the flat side of the center strip (12), form a receiving channel (24), which is open toward one side, for receiving the lock element of the sheet pile.

  • Patent number: 7858604
Abstract: A method of treating volume expansion mediated hypertension including administering a therapeutically effective dose of resibufogenin to a patient having volume expansion mediated hypertension. A method for the determination of the presence of volume expansion mediated hypertension may be by determining whether there has been a substantial elevation in marinobufagenin which may be blood-derived or urine-derived and if such elevation does exist, concluding that volume expansion mediated hypertension does exist. The method may advantageously be practiced by employing urine, blood serum or blood plasma as the body specimen in determining whether a patient has volume expansion mediated hypertension. In another embodiment, bufodienolide derivatives other than resibufogenin may be employed in lieu of thereof or in combination therewith. In another embodiment, resibufogenin analogues may be employed in the treatment of volume expansion mediated hypertension.

  • Patent number: 7854908
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and process that utilizes high-temperature oxidation and sublimation techniques for the recovery of molybdenum from spent catalysts or other feedstocks that contain molybdenum. A preferred embodiment uses a counter-rotating vortex reactor and a cyclonic entrained-flow reactor to rapidly heat and oxidize the spent catalyst feedstock, such as carbon, sulfur, and molybdenum compounds, at temperatures in the range of about 2100° F. to 2900° F., resulting in a gas-solid stream containing molybdenum trioxide vapor. A high-temperature cyclone separator is utilized to separate the residue from this stream before this stream is rapidly quenched to a temperature sufficient to effect the condensation of solid molybdenum trioxide without condensing arsenic or phosphoric oxides. The condensed molybdenum trioxide material is separated from this stream by passing through a high-temperature filtration system.
