  • Patent number: 7826864
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for deriving a power measurement summation for use in universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed. Conversion from a logarithm scale to a linear scale for summation and back again is avoided. The technique obviates the need for a mathematical processor to convert power measurements in a logarithmic scale (e.g. decibels dB, or dBw) into a linear scale (e.g. mW) to sum the power measurements or a ratio. The summed power component is calculated using data stored in the device (e.g. look up tables) without any need for conversion of the scale used.

  • Patent number: 7824867
Abstract: The present invention provides improved and rapid detection methods for an antigen such as a chemical compound, a peptide, a nucleic acid, or a protein released from cells or virus particles in situ. The detection time for an antigen can be dramatically reduced relative to conventional technologies. The technology can particularly be used, for example, to modify and reduce the detection time significantly in traditional ELISA, and also Western blot or Dot blot assays. The improved ELISA method is rapid, economical, reproducible, simple and automatable. Also provided are compositions and kits for using the improved ELISA methods for the rapid detection of antigens.

Abstract: The cartridge-type training round consists of a projectile and a cartridge shell into which the projectile is inserted. The projectile includes a one-piece cylindrical central body (2) and a one-piece basin-shaped projectile tip (5) that is pressed onto the central body and engages a circumferential engagement bead (7) with a circumferential engagement slot (8) located in the central body (2). The cartridge shell (20) is a one-piece basin-shaped part; it is also pressed onto the central body (2) and engages a circumferential engagement bead (22) with a circumferential engagement slot (23) of the central body (2). A receiver recess (25) is provided in an approximately cylindrical projection (24) that is inserted centered from the base to receive the propulsive charge (28) and its igniter (29). The round is of simple design, and may be manufactured inexpensively owing to its simple parts that may be largely of plastic without loss of function.

  • Patent number: 7819526
Abstract: The components of a fundus camera for observing an eye (11)—namely, an illumination device (1) to illuminate an image field of the eyeground (12) and an image recording device (14) onto which the eyeground (12) is projected by means of a projection device (10)—are positioned to be confocal. The illumination device (1) is so structured that a periodic light pattern is created against the eyeground (12) within the illuminated image field. Further, an offset medium is present to offset the pattern by less than one period. The image recording device (14) is connected to an evaluation unit (22) in order to combine at least three recordings illuminated with offset patterns into a single photograph. A single, unstructured, extremely sharply focused photograph of the eyeground (12) may thus be obtained.

  • Patent number: 7817990
Abstract: A method of ordering location-specific services in which RFID or NFC interaction between an RFID or NFC-enabled portable device or a mobile telephone of a user, on the one hand, and a location and service-specific smartposter comprising at least one RFID or NFC label or tag or a location and service-specific RFID or NFC label affixed to an object such as a smartposter, on the other hand, is used to set up an activatable link to the portable device or mobile telephone. A connection to a server operated by the service provider is established following link activation. Location information relating to the RFID or NFC label is communicated to the service provider's server, the contents of the server page corresponding to the link depending on the location information transmitted by the RFID or NFC label. The user is then capable of ordering location-specific services after the connection has been set up.

  • Patent number: 7805133
Abstract: A new master application definition is installed at a server. Responsively, the server determines the identity of a user associated with the server-side application related to the master application definition. The server may then generate an application definition file specific to the application and to the remote wireless device associated with the identified user. The application definition file may contain definitions for: a user interface format; a format for network messages; and a format for storing data. Using these definitions, the wireless device may receive data generated by the server-side application and formatted in accordance with the definitions. The wireless device may then present a user interface for the application. Preferably, the application definition file is an XML file. Advantageously, when changes occur to previously established server-side applications, automatic updating of devices is efficiently accomplished.

  • Patent number: 7798545
Abstract: This invention provides a post hole digger having a first, traverse pivot point, located on the lower section of two handle members, and a second, blade assembly pivot point located at the medial point of the blade assemblies. Because the first pivot point is a traverse pivot point, the handle members are only required to travel through a limited range of motion. Additionally, the second, blade assembly pivot point is preferably an offset pivot point. Thus, because the second, blade assembly pivot point is disposed at a medial point of the blade assemblies, the motion of the handle members, which are coupled to the upper ends of the blade assemblies, is reversed relative to the lower ends of the blade members.

  • Patent number: 7801591
Abstract: System for diagnosis, medical decision support, and healthcare information management that performs analysis of serial health data, adapts to the individual data, and represents dynamics of the most significant parameters (indicators), using at least two scales. The system uses the first-scale (low-resolution) analysis of a snapshot measurement of at least one indicator (primary element) such as heart rate or blood pressure and uses a second-scale (higher-resolution) analysis to determine serial changes in each of the said primary elements. The system optimizes information flow, usage of medical knowledge, and improves accuracy of analysis of serial changes, and adaptability to each individual's data. The information can be distributed in parallel to separate databases at different locations.
