  • Patent number: 4415515
Abstract: Plastic sheet material used for forming box blanks are provided with soft, bendable score lines by applying frictional heat through rapid vibration. The sheet material is clamped under high pressure between a resilient make-ready and a scoring tool, and is subjected to the vibratory action which generates frictional heat sufficient to melt the plastic material at the engaged interface, thereby forming a score line along which the sheet material may be bent to form an assembled box. A completed box blank may be formed in a single operational step, by cutting the box, impressing the score lines, and impressing embossments, if required, simultaneously in a single operational cycle of seconds duration.

  • Patent number: 4400853
Abstract: In an needle bar drawing device or gill box comprising needle bars carried by chains is arranged a bristle mat consisting of one or few layers of bristles extending along the whole needle field up to the proximity of a clamping gap formed between a pair of exit rollers. The bristle mat is penetrated by the needles of the needle field and creates a stripping effect at the disappearing position of the needles in the region of the nip, this stripping effect avoiding the conveying of fibers freely swimming in the sliver, and thus the danger and disadvantage of any lap forming.

  • Patent number: 4381778
Abstract: A multiple barrel syringe for selective delivery of a plurality of fluids through a single needle is adapted to be loaded with each of said fluids through the needle thereof. The syringe body includes a pair of fluid-retaining bores, each containing a plunger and each communicating with the single needle through restrictive conduits in which respective flexible sealing valves are interposed. As each plunger is depressed, the respective valve is depressed and distorts under pressure of the fluid, allowing the fluid to flow to the needle. For filling each bore through the needle, a plunger is manually depressed to compress and distort the respective valve, enabling fluid to flow from a container through the needle and through the unobstructed conduit to the selected bore in response to raising of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 4365590
Abstract: A ventilated animal cage rack has a hollow housing divided into a plurality of horizontally-disposed shelf compartments separated from each other by partition walls and having front open ends normally closed off by transparent doors which isolate the interiors of the shelf compartments from each other and from the interior of the room containing the cage rack. Each shelf compartment is sized to contain a row of horizontally-spaced animal cages having open top ends and closed bottom ends, with the open top ends spaced well below the ceiling of the shelf compartment. A low pressure air plenum extends vertically along one side of the cage rack and communicates with one side of each of said shelf compartments, the other sides of which contain air inlet openings communicating with the room interior, thereby providing a low-pressure negative air flow along the top open ends of the contained animal cages to said air plenum and then to a room exhaust system.

  • Patent number: 4365387
Abstract: There is disclosed a mechanical fish filleting process, whose use with decapitated fish, particularly, those of approximately circular cross section, enables a substantial reduction in the manual trimming which is caused by falsely positioned cuts. A sequence of cuts is proposed which permits a more exact guiding and thus also alignment of the fish. The method comprises the following cut sequence: belly filleting cut, rib cut, severing cut to separate the lateral vertebral appendages and/or ribs from the back bone, back filleting cut guided from the belly to the vicinity of the fin holders of the dorsal fins, pinbone cut and back severing cut on both sides of the dorsal fins. The dorsal fins are so guided that they are reliably introduced between the back severing knives so that the fillets can be cut free from the fins or their remains.

  • Patent number: 4364186
Abstract: A ventilated article of footwear, such as a shoe, is provided with an outer sole of deformable material having a raised peripheral portion of enlarged thickness surrounding the entire periphery thereof. An inner sole of non-deformable material is mounted above the outer sole in normally spaced relation therefrom to define an air chamber between the soles. The inner sole is perforated with a plurality of apertures providing communication between the air chamber and the interior of the shoe. A compressible supporting material is located in the air chamber between the inner and outer soles and normally biases the deformable outer sole away from the inner sole to provide a relatively deep air chamber. When the wearer of the shoe applies his weight upon the outer sole, the latter deforms upwardly compressing the compressible supporting material and reducing the depth of the air chamber.
