  • Patent number: 7735298
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing tray-shaped or pot-shaped receptacles, such as blister packs or pots for storing dairy products, includes a sealing head having a sealing contour support, a heatable sealing contour and support plate, preferably with at least one guide bolt immobilized thereon allowing for a linear displacement of the sealing head relative to the support plate. At least one spring element impinges the sealing head with a point biasing away from the support plate. A spring seat plate is disposed between the sealing head and the support plate and can be linearly displaced in the same direction as the sealing head. A rubber mount associated with the sealing head serves as a joint element and allows the sealing contour support to be tilted about the axes that are perpendicular to the guide bolts. An adjustable element is interposed between the spring seat plate and the sealing head.

  • Patent number: 7722050
Abstract: A mechanical seal has an axially floating seal face (21) in sliding contact with an axially stationary seal face (22). A biasing means (33), such as a magnet, biases the floating seal face towards the stationary seal face. The axially floating seal face and the biasing means are rotationally fixed relative to each other and the axially stationary seal face is free to rotate relative to the axially floating seal face. The seal may be used, for instance, as a bearing protector or isolator.

  • Patent number: 7677988
Abstract: An apparatus for assisting in training players of golf includes a platform and a first coplanar foot support member and a second coplanar foot support member on the platform, with the first coplanar foot support member being fixed in position and the second coplanar foot support member able to be moved laterally and linearly on the platform relative to the first coplanar foot support member when a golf player places one foot on each of the two coplanar foot support members. A biasing device causes the second coplanar foot support member to be adjacent the first coplanar foot support member, so that in the absence of an externally applied force, the second coplanar foot member remains adjacent to the first coplanar foot support member.

  • Patent number: 7606631
Abstract: A packaging machine is described, which is equipped with sensors, actuators and drive systems, comprising a servo motor, a central control unit and a system for data transmission. The actual values of the sensors, actuators and drive systems are recorded in digital form in each case and transferred with the use of a transmission protocol via the data transmission system to the central control unit, evaluated by the latter and the determined setpoint values or control commands are also transmitted, in digital form and with the use of the transmission protocol, from the control system via the data transmission system to the actuators or drives According to the invention, it is provided that the data transmission between sensors, actuators, drives and central control unit and vice versa takes place wirelessly and the transmission protocol operates cyclically and with short cycle times, preferably in millisecond pulses.

  • Patent number: 7595061
Abstract: A method for controlling the growth of destructive insects and microorganisms in ground soil, includes the step of adding chitin to ground soil for inducing bacteria in the ground soil to synthesize chitinase for controlling the spread of destructive insects and microorganisms therein. The chitin may be added to the ground soil by distributing it on the upper surface of the soil or, preferably, by incorporating into the soil. In a preferred embodiment, the step of deacetylating the carbohydrate chains of the chitin for is carried out before adding to the ground soil for increasing the aqueous solubility of the chitin by producing smaller polymeric units or by increasing the availability of polar hydroxyl groups on glucosyl moieties thereof. Various bacterial cultures may also be added to the chitin prior to its distribution on, or incorporation in, the ground soil.

  • Patent number: 7549558
Abstract: A pouring closure includes a flange for welding onto a combipack or to the foil material of a container sealed with the foil material, along with an upwardly projecting circular rim thereon and a rotatable combined lid and pouring nozzle that can be clipped onto the upwardly projecting circular rim, which forms a piercing edge arrangement. This piercing edge arrangement includes a part of a cap lid, which can be opened from the lid surface around a swinging axis. Two piercing cutters are on the lower side of this part of the cap lid behind its swinging axis and near the edge of the cap rim and are able to be folded up beyond a level of the lower side of the flange and to pierce the combipack or the membrane liner running below the flange. Thereafter, the lid and pouring nozzle is rotated on the flange rim, so that the two piercing cutters cut-out a disc, of approximately 360°, from the combipack or the membrane liner after the folding upwards movement.

  • Patent number: 7543766
Abstract: A method for converting a tablet containing medication into a palatable fluid includes the steps of adding a palatable fluid to a container, placing the tablet containing the medication and then disintegrating the tablet/fluid combination until the table is disintegrating the tablet/fluid combination until the tablet is disintegrated and dispersed throughout the palatable fluid for forming a palatable mixture in the container for ingestion by a patient. An apparatus for carrying out the method uses either an ultrasonic device, such as a ultrasonic probe, or a crushing device for disintegrating and dispersing the tablet throughout the palatable fluid.

  • Patent number: 7517180
Abstract: A pallet for use with a freight container includes a chassis having a leading edge, a trailing edge opposite the leading edge and a plurality of sides between the leading edge and the trailing edge, along with a locomotion device for rolling the chassis into, and out of, the freight container. A locking device is provided at two sides of, and located at, either the leading edge or the trailing edge of the pallet for immobilizing the chassis within the freight container with the locking device able to be engaged with a container wall, or another, adjacent pallet, to one side of the plurality of sides of the initial pallet for use with the freight container. The locking device is further able to engage a container wall, or the adjacent pallet, to the leading edge or the trialing edge of the initial pallet for preventing movement in mutually perpendicular directions in a horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 7458486
Abstract: The self-opener closure consists of a pour-out spout (2) which may be sealingly assembled onto a composite packaging or onto a container spout or bottle spout to be closed with film material, of an associated rotary cap (1) as well as a self-opener sleeve (3) arranged within the pour-out spout (2) which may be set into rotation by the rotary cap (1). Force transmission means and guide means are formed on these three elements. These cooperate with one another such that on rotating the rotary cap (1) in the opening direction for the first time the self-opener sleeve (3) firstly in the pour-out spout (2) may be pushed vertically downwards and subsequently may be rotated by approximately 360° in the horizontal. Because the self-opener sleeve (3) at its lower edge and projecting from this comprises a single, combined piercing and cutting member (9) the film or the composite packaging is first reliably pierced and afterwards a disk is cut cleanly out of it and pivoted downwards.

  • Patent number: 7432433
Abstract: The metronome serves for the optical and acoustic display of tempo, phase and the division of the phases of music pieces or movement rhythms. The above comprises a housing (1) with a display for the optical display of a movement which describes a curve (3) similar to a parabola. Means for controlling the display are further provided so that the optical movement oscillates with adjustable frequency and with additional means for the selective electrical generation of tones for acoustically marking the inflection points of the movement and for the selective further acoustic division of the time intervals between the inflection points of the movement. The display advantageously comprises a row of discrete light sources (2), arranged along a curve (3) similar to a parabola. The light sources (2) may be controlled such as to generate a moving light which oscillates back and forth along the row of light sources with adjustable frequency.
