  • Patent number: 8166355
Abstract: A receiver is provided, which is adapted to receive MPE-FEC frames and to correct erroneous sections within a received MPE-FEC frame by detecting unreliable sections and storing in an erasure list (“ESL”) table compressed data that includes the base address of each detected erroneous section, together with the respective section's size. The size of the ESL table may be fixed, or it may correlate, or dynamically change according to the actual number of detected erroneous sections. The data stored in the erasure list may then be forwarded to a decoder to correct erroneous sections. The erroneous sections may be detected by using CRC, and the decoder may be a Reed-Solomon decoder.

  • Patent number: 8139645
Abstract: A transmitter transmits an essentially uncompressed HDTV video by direct mapping of transformation coefficients of Y—Cr—Cb video components to communication symbols. A main portion of the important transform coefficients is sent in a coarse representation using, for example, QPSK or QAM. The coefficients representing the higher frequency of each of Y—Cr—Cb, as well as the quantization error values of the DC and near DC components, are sent as pairs of real and imaginary portions of a complex number that comprise a symbol. In the transmitter, a history containing certain information of some of the coefficients is maintained for the immediately preceding frame, and if a match is found, instead of repeating sending of these coefficients, additional high-frequency coefficients are sent. In the receiver, a history buffer containing certain information of some of the coefficients is maintained, and upon detection of an error the content of the buffer is used instead.

  • Patent number: 8108538
Abstract: Device, system, and method of distributing messages. For example, a data publisher capable of communication with a plurality of subscribers via a network fabric, the data publisher comprising: a memory allocator to allocate a memory area of a local memory unit of the data publisher to be accessible for Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) read operations by one or more of the subscribers; and a publisher application to create a message log in said memory area, to send a message to one or more of the subscribers using a multicast transport protocol, and to store in said memory area a copy of said message. A subscriber device handles recovery of lost messages by directly reading the lost messages from the message log of the data publisher using RDMA read operation(s).

  • Patent number: 8107543
Abstract: A diversity transmission scheme uses a number of antennas that is greater than the limitation of two transmitting antennas in the well-known Alamouti scheme. In an embodiment comprising four antennas, the antennas transmit in pairs such that each antenna transmits a block that is used in the Alamouti scheme. This increases the transmission rate. For example, the transmission of two signals at a given time slot increases transmission rate by a factor of two. The invention not only increases the number of antennas, but also increases the transmission rate. At the receiver end, the code is decoded without matrix inversion and without much noise enhancement. Moreover, noise enhancement stability is increased by a simple, partial interference cancellation scheme, that results in improved decoding performance.

  • Patent number: 8106442
Abstract: A method of fabricating an oxide-nitride-oxide (ONO) layer in a memory cell to retain charge well in the nitride layer includes the steps of forming a bottom oxide layer on a substrate, depositing a nitride layer and oxidizing a top oxide layer, thereby causing oxygen to be introduced into the nitride layer. Another method includes the steps of forming a bottom oxide layer on a substrate, depositing a nitride layer and oxidizing a portion of a top oxide layer, thereby causing oxygen to be introduced into the nitride layer and depositing a remaining portion of the top oxide layer, thereby assisting in controlling the amount of oxygen introduced into the nitride layer. A further method includes the steps of forming a bottom oxide layer on a substrate, depositing a nitride layer, depositing a portion of a top oxide layer and oxidizing a remaining portion of the top oxide layer, thereby causing oxygen to be introduced into the nitride layer.

  • Patent number: 8098525
Abstract: The pipe effect can significantly degrade flash performance. A method to significantly reduce pipe current and (or neighbor current using a pre-charge sequence) is disclosed. A dedicated read order keeps the sensing node facing the section of the pipe which was pre-charged. The technique involves pre-charging several global bitlines (such as metal bitlines, or MBLs) and local bitlines (such as diffusion bitlines, or DBLs). The pre-charged global bitlines are selected according to a pre-defined table per each address. The selection of the global bitlines is done according to whether these global bitlines will interfere with the pipe during the next read cycle.
