Abstract: A femoral impactor-extractor and method includes a body having an elongated passageway extending from a proximal end to a distal end, an elongated post positioned in such passageway for longitudinal movement therein and extending from a threaded proximal end to a distal end having an enlarged flange with a greater length than breadth. The proximal end of the elongated post is threaded and threadedly engaged to a rotatable handle. Rotation of the handle moves the elongated post and its flange in a proximal direction to clamp the femoral knee prosthesis between the ends of the flange and contoured surfaces which engage the articulating surfaces of the respective condylar portions of the prosthesis.

Abstract: Sauerkraut that is free of added vegetable oil or other lubricant is prepared for packaging in small volumes by substantially continuously delivering a supply of the sauerkraut to a hopper (20) with an open top (22), the sauerkraut being delivered to the hopper at a location between a baffle (24) that periodically reciprocates within the hopper and a plurality of openings (28) at a bottom of the hopper. A tube (26) extends substantially vertically downwardly from each of the openings, and sauerkraut in the hopper is positively caused to flow from each of the openings into and through a tube that is aligned with the opening by rotating a rotatable screw (40) with a larger diameter upper portion (40a) that extends downwardly through the hopper and a smaller diameter lower portion (40b) that extends downwardly from the upper portion into and at least substantially through a tube.

Abstract: A low viscosity, high coking value petroleum tar material having a high coking value as compared to standard petroleum tars and containing at least one biodiesel material dissolved therein, and a method for producing such material, are disclosed.
Abstract: An article is coated with a coating having a dark gray or bronze color. In a preferred embodiment, the coating comprises a nickel or polymer basecoat layer, and a color and protective stack layer comprised of layers of oxygen-rich refractory metal oxycarbides. The preferred dark grey, oxygen rich color layer is zirconium oxycarbide. A refractory metal adhesion layer and a refractory metal oxide top coat layer also may be used.
Abstract: This device provides for measuring the particulate content in a fluid storage tank. A sample of fluid is taken from a fluid storage tank; and compared to a field visual reference chart. Using this chart results in identifying tanks containing a maximum or average particulate allowable.
Abstract: A method for reducing the consequences and risks of failure in a hydrocarbon pipeline system includes identifying specific segments of pipelines the leakage of which could have an adverse impact on environment or safety, particularly in areas of high consequence, developing a baseline assessment plan for such segments by analyzing information including age, corrosion, and types of seams and joints and then establishing preventive and migitative measures including, where necessary, positioning emergency flow restricting devices in one or more pipeline segments.

Abstract: A portable fuel system for a motorcycle or similar vehicle includes an inner bag with opening for receiving and dispensing fuel, a first outer bag formed of fire retardant material and a second outer bag having connectors for securing the portable fuel system to the motorcycle or other vehicle.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing rubber tires includes an abrader for rubbing against the surface of the tire and an eraser for removing particles of rubber left on the abrading surface by the tire. The eraser has the capability of absorbing oil or wax included in the tire being tested and in the particles deposited on the abrading surface.
Abstract: A low-viscosity, high-softening point heavy hydrocarbon material having a viscosity-reducing amount of at least one biodiesel material dissolved in a heavy hydrocarbon, and a method for producing such low-viscosity, high-softening point heavy hydrocarbon material are disclosed.
Abstract: This light modifier assembly is a continuous light source for still and video imagemakers. More specifically, the continuous light source provides a constant light source for still, digital, video or high definition image capture. In a preferred embodiment, the light source comprises a multiplicity of lamps with a control configured to run multiple combinations of lamps together with no shift in color temperature and to set up multiple lighting ratios.
Abstract: A cutting head assembly for use in cutting plate glass has a simplified drive train, all positioned about the vertical rotational centerline. The drive train includes a hollow bore drive motor having a drive adaptor directly engaged with a spline shaft that extends through the hollow bore. The lower end of the spline shaft is directly engaged with a cutting tool holder for retaining a cutting tool. The drive motor imparts rotational movement to the cutting tool through the spline shaft and the cylinder imparts vertical movement to the cutting tool by vertical movement of the spline shaft.
Abstract: A method is provided for improving high temperature performance grade properties of polymer-modified, vulcanized asphalt by treating an asphalt cement under mild oxidizing conditions sufficient to provide a change in viscosity per hour as measured at 140° C. of less than about 500 poises per hour, of said asphalt cement, adding 1 wt. % to 10 wt. % of a polymer based on weight of said asphalt cement, and vulcanizing the polymer-containing asphalt cement. The invention further relates to asphalt compositions thus made and paving compositions containing these asphalt compositions.

Abstract: This system relates to a secure encryption/decryption protocol for elevator displays and controls. The protocol uses an algorithm to scramble information before transmission and reassemble it after transmission. The system uses at least one block of data assembled into unencrypted N-bits of information. An encryption device encodes the data into at least one block of encrypted M-bits of information. A data encryption mask provides an encryption routine which also includes scrambling the data.
Abstract: A replaceable locking and securing device for securing a first member to a second member includes a replaceable bracket, a lock and a fastener. The bracket defines one opening when the bracket is operatively connected to the first member.
Abstract: This drop tube loading arm assembly is adaptable for loading asphalt into tank trailers at marketing terminals. The telescoping drop tube employs guides made of steel rollers of polymers such as fluorocarbon polymers and aluminum. The guides are located in the annular space between the tubes in combination with increased radial clearance between the tubes or sleeves and in combination with protection for the overfill probe. With the addition of vapor control systems and overfill protection probes, the telescoping drop loading spouts are less susceptible to cold weather sticking problems.

Abstract: A method for determining the variations in the sulfur content of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel when it is transported through a petroleum transportation system includes sampling fuels at various points during barge transport, pipeline transport and in terminaling operations. New procedures and special handling regiments are developed in view of how the sulfur content of ultra-low sulfur fuel may change when transported through the system in sequence and stored with other petroleum products.
