  • Patent number: 6792831
Abstract: The tools (wrenches) of this invention provide a one color instant identification of color coded tools. Preferably, the tools have a portion of their outer surface colored. Typically, the color impregnates the metal or plating during the manufacturing process. Another embodiment is a colored applique, band or sleeve on the outer surface of the tools. The key of this coloring is to identify the tool quickly by coloring a large area of the tool. This provides for quick identification of the tool even if the numerical designations are illegible because of small sizing or dirt obliteration. In a preferred embodiment, virtually the entire tool is colored during manufacturing. In another preferred embodiment, large raised numbers combine with the overall color scheme to make the tools quickly identifiable. Dirting the large colored surface is very unlikely as is obliterating the large raised fractional numbers.

  • Patent number: 6789697
Abstract: An adjustable cup dispenser includes a tubular body having overlapping portions extending between a discharge opening at one end and an opposing end. A fastening mechanism selectively fixes the overlapping portions relative to each other to define a desired tubular body diameter. A plurality of radially inwardly extending dual-length fingers extend from the discharge opening for engaging a cup disposed in the tubular body. The dispenser body and fingers can be formed from a single sheet of flexible material, and then folded and rolled into the shape of the cup dispenser. The overlapping sides can be repositioned to define a different tubular body diameter.

  • Patent number: 6790308
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making a friction clutch plate includes cutting a supply of friction material into a plurality of individual shaped segments. The cut segments are moved in a first horizontal linear direction to a position adjacent a shuttle assembly. At least a first cut segment is engaged by the shuttle assembly which transfers the first cut segment in a second horizontal linear direction which is substantially perpendicular to the first horizontal linear direction. The first cut segment is deposited in a first indexing fixture. The remaining cut segments are sequentially moved in the first horizontal linear direction to the position adjacent the shuttle assembly. At least a second cut segment is engaged by the shuttle assembly and is transferred in a third horizontal linear direction which substantially perpendicular to the first horizontal linear direction.

  • Patent number: 6770077
Abstract: A femoral knee saw guide for use in surgery includes a cutting guide having a slot extending therethrough for guiding a saw and alignment structure attached to the guide and positioned externally of the patient's femur for effecting proper alignment of the cutting guide. The cutting guide may be used for cutting one or both condyles at the distal end of the femur in a medial to lateral direction or lateral to medial direction. An arm having a stylus extending into the plane defined by the path of travel of the saw may be used when it is desired to cut only a single condyle to prevent inadvertently cutting the opposing condyle.

  • Patent number: 6764775
Abstract: An article is coated with a multi-layer decorative and protective coating having the appearance of stainless steel. The coating comprises a polymeric basecoat layer on the surface of said article and vapor deposited on the polymeric basecoat layer a stack layer containing layers of refractory metal or refractory metal alloy alternating with layers containing the reaction products of refractory metal or refractory metal alloy, nitrogen and oxygen. Over the stack layer is vapor deposited at relatively low pressures a protective color layer comprised of the reaction products of refractory metal or refractory metal alloy, oxygen and nitrogen wherein the total nitrogen and oxygen content of these reaction products is from about 4 to about 32 atomic percent, with the nitrogen content being at least about 3 atomic percent.

  • Patent number: 6763931
Abstract: This conveyor system provides head-to-head or head-to-tail placement of product. More specifically, the system is configured to use the minimum acceleration necessary to perform the targeted spacing. Feedback control continuously readjusts acceleration to perform the given work. The system uses one or more contiguous variable speed conveyors that work together to space items by a calculated amount at each output juncture attempting minimum acceleration necessary to perform the given work. During product transition, an acceleration match is made with downstream conveyor where additional spacing correction can occur. Feedback control is used to continually readjust acceleration as necessary to meet spacing requirements.
