  • Patent number: 3987973
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for sealing a casing housing a machine element the rotatable shaft of which passes through the casing within which a pressure differing from that of the outside the casing is maintained. To provide a perfect sealing at the shaft passage, a liquid seal is formed by novel specific means. In a preferred embodiment where the device is combined with an apparatus the shaft of which passing through at least one wall of the casing is axially displaceable, the specific sealing means are displaceable together with the shaft while completely maintaining the sealing effect.

  • Patent number: 3986287
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for extracting a fish which has been hooked for use in combination with line fishing means, comprising an L-shaped rod with differing arm lengths, the shorter of which acts as a pivot for a pair of bushings, each of which is connected to one of a pair of branches operating in the manner of scissors, forming respective hooks counterweighted at their top ends. A tube is slidably engaged around the longer arm of the rod, said tube incorporating anchor-points at the lower end for flexible components connected at the other end to the branch counterweights, the arrangement being such that, on pulling the tube sliding on the longer arm of the L-shaped rod, the hooks are closed together to grasp the body of the fish to secure it.

  • Patent number: 3977466
Abstract: A room air conditioning apparatus for exchanging heat and/or moisture between fresh atmospheric air entering the room from the outside and consumed air being discharged from the room combines high capacity with relatively small dimensions, low air velocities and small pressure drops so as to minimize generation of disturbing noise. Within a casing, a motor-driven regenerative-type rotor passes through two air stream zones in the first of which is a motor-driven fan for discharge of consumed room air into the outer atmosphere and in the second of which is a motor-driven fan for supply of fresh air to the room from the outer atmosphere. In the rotor, the two air streams exchange heat and/or moisture content so that the supply of fresh air is given a desired, predetermined temperature and a desired moisture content.

  • Patent number: 3974971
Abstract: Grinding discs in apparatus for manufacture of pulp composed of a support disc and segments mounted on said support disc so as to form a ring. The segments are formed with ribs and grooves for breaking down the material to be ground. The outer and inner peripheral edges form together common edge lines following a wave-shaped contour line. Abstract: A torque absorbing carrier for the pinions in an epicyclic gear train which comprises a pair of flanges between which the pinions are mounted to mesh with the sun wheel and the internal gear ring. When the pinions function as planetary gear wheels, one of the flanges operates to transmit the torque moment and is connected to a drive shaft; when the pinions function as star gear wheels, the other flange operates to transmit the torque moment and is firmly anchored in the gear housing. The pinions are pivoted on shaft pins which are resiliently mounted in the torque transmitting flange and fixedly mounted in the other flange to prevent angular motion of the pinions and to maintain the parallel axial alignment between the pinion shafts, the sun wheel shaft and the internal gear ring.

  • Patent number: 3969184
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous method of making cellulosic pulp from wood chips within a range of yield from 65 to 90 per cent by digestion with a digestion liquor containing Na.sub.2 S and Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3. The digestion is effected at temperatures between 150.degree. and 190.degree.C and malodorous sulfur compounds are removed from the pulp, the liquor and the vapors prior to their withdrawal from the digesting process. In order to eliminate their capacity of emitting obnoxious odors, the sulfur compounds are oxidized by addition of molecular oxygen to the digester prior to discharge of pulp and spent liquor from the digester after which the spent liquor is removed from the digested pulp, concentrated and burned for renewed use in preparation of fresh digesting liquor.

  • Patent number: 3969473
Abstract: Method for continuously forming a corrugated web of thermoplastic material in which the corrugations extend diagonally across the web. The web is first softened by heat and then passed to a molding belt which moves in an endless path while supporting and advancing the web in a longitudinal direction. The molding belt is provided with grooves corresponding to the corrugations in the web. The corrugations are formed initially by poking the softened web progressively into the grooves without stretching the web to any substantial degree. The thus initially formed corrugations are thereafter drawn into the grooves and retained therein by applying suction to the bottom side of the molding belt.

  • Patent number: 3967686
Abstract: A device for applying the drill tool displaceably carried by the feed beam of a vehicle supported drilling machine to a rock surface located at a distance from the feed beam. The drill tool is held in position during the collaring of the drill hole by a drill guide carried by a maneuverable arm mounted on the vehicle separately from the feed beam, and which drill guide is moved into engagement with the drill tool in close proximity to the rock surface. After the drill tool has penetrated into the rock surface a distance sufficient to be supported by the drill hole, the drill guide is released by a hydraulic device and withdrawn from the drill tool by the maneuverable arms.

  • Patent number: 3966540
Abstract: An improved method for the manufacture of wood fiberboard according to the wet system with a closed white water system includes the steps of drying the incoming lignocellulose containing material, prior to the dilution step, to a dryness, or solid consistency, which is higher than the dryness of the wet lap or sheet before final drying to produce the fiberboard product. Formaldehyde is added to the resulting white water which is homogenized to atomize occurring precipitations through efficient agitation and dispersion prior to being recirculated for use for diluting the incoming fiber material. Thus, there is obtained an efficient closed white water system which results in a reduction of environmentally harmful discharge of polluted water as well as the production of fiberboard with enhanced appearance.

  • Patent number: 3958549
Abstract: An air rifle comprising a tubular casing in which the barrel is mounted. The bullet or other projectile is propelled by the escape of compressed air from a compression chamber produced by a forceful spring actuated movement of a piston having a deformable piston head which strikes a channelled funnel-shaped cap member which forms gas tight closure for the forward end of a compression cylinder within which the piston moves and which also forms a seal around the projectile seat in the shooting position of the compression cylinder. The compression cylinder slideably engages the walls of the tubular casing which has a normally open rear end to which is detachably connected a closure member or rear body which serves as an abutment for the spring and also to support the trigger mechanism and a trigger guard. The rifle is cocked by actuation of a lever mechanism which is pivotally connected to the tubular casing and to the rear body and includes a draw bar which is pivoted to the cap member.

  • Patent number: 3956892
Abstract: A fuel-air regulating system for hot gas engines in which a correctly selected ratio between fuel and air is maintained in spite of variations in the engine load. The system comprises temperature-controlled means for supplying fuel and air required for the combustion in a constant amount per unit of time which exceeds that which the engine requires for maximum power output when the high temperature level of the working gas had dropped to a predetermined lower temperature limit and for reducing the fuel and air supply to a constant amount per unit of time which is less than the amount required at idling of the engine when the temperature of the working gas has reached its predetermined upper limit.
