  • Patent number: 4685441
Abstract: A heat exchanger comprising a burner in a vertical heating chamber, having openings along its upper end to horizontally extending coils which pass through a plurality of heat transfer fins, the coils opening near the bottom edge of the assembly to a horizontally extending collector tube, open at one end and closed at the other. The open end of the collector tube opens to a vertical tubular stack through which outside air is blown past the opening to the collector tube thus creating a vacuum at that point to draw heated air from the heating chamber and through the coils where the heat is taken up by the heat transfer fins and transferred to air flowing through a hot air duct of a heating system in which the heat exchanger is placed. A blower connected in the bottom portion of the vertical stack draws outside air into the stack through an intake conduit at the bottom end and out through an exhaust conduit at the upper end of the stack.

  • Patent number: 4681134
Abstract: A valve lock for a tank truck comprising an elongated straight length of strap metal having a shorter leg at each end projecting laterally in the same direction therefrom. The shorter leg at one end is secured to an upstream portion of the valve body which connects to the conduit leading from the tank of the truck, and the shorter leg at the other end is releasably secured to the rotary valve operator or valve handle to prevent its movement from the valve closed position to the valve open position until released. The lock device is positioned in such a way that the elongated portion of strap metal bears firmly against a portion of the valve body, such as its outlet spout, to further restrain rotation of the valve operator or valve handle in the direction of rotation which would open the valve.

  • Patent number: 4671329
Abstract: A wine distribution method from winery to retail customer in which the wine is completely enclosed or sealed throughout until it is finally dispensed into a glass or carafe for customers in a restaurant or lounge or other retail establishment. The wine originates in a winery where it is stored in closed containers until it has been properly aged. It is then pumped through a sealed conduit from the winery vats into the closed tank of a tanker truck for shipment to a wholesale distributor. In accordance with this invention the wholesale distributor pumps the wine from the tank of the tanker truck through lines which are closed to air into large holding tanks which are also closed to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4662635
Abstract: A video game in which a television screen or cathode ray tube is used to display a variety of plays previously preformed by living beings and recorded at the time on a video recording medium, such as video tape or video disks, the particular previously performed play which is displayed during each turn, or each play of the video game in accordance with this invention depending on the number, or combination or numbers, selected by one or more players, such number corresponding to one of the previously performed and recorded plays. The number selected is fed into an electronic control console, which includes circuitry to signal an electronic playback unit in which the previously performed and recorded plays have been stored to re-run the particular play corresponding to the number selected through a pick-up circuit connected to the cathode ray tube or television screen.

  • Patent number: 4605228
Abstract: A method of putting a golf ball by selecting a putter club with a shaft which can be held vertically in the same vertical plane as the vertical midline of a golf ball in position for putting toward the cup and a selected aiming point which is between the ball and the cup in a selected path of travel which is intended to enable the ball to roll into the cup, holding such club shaft at one side in such vertical position with only the hand on that side gripping said club shaft, facing forward in the direction of the said selected path of travel, swinging said club in a way whereby said shaft thereof remains substantially in said vertical plane throughout said swing, and striking said golf ball with that portion of the striking surface of its club head which is in line with the axis of said club shaft impacting against the golf ball at its said vertical midline which lies in said vertical plane to cause the ball to roll along the selected path of travel until it passes over said selected aiming point and continue

  • Patent number: 4574972
Abstract: A protective cap for a diesel fuel filter which is placed on the working end of the filter by the filter manufacturer prior to sale to prevent dirt and other contaminants from getting into filter, particulary on the downstream side of the filtering material. The diesel fuel filter comprises a canister having an open working end partially covered by a circular apertured wall in which there is a large central aperture opening to a cavity in the canister on the downstream side of the filtering material. The filtering material forms an annular ring surrounding the central cavity. A series of smaller apertures extend around the outer periphery of the apertured circular wall which receive diesel fuel during operation on the upstream side of the filtering material. The fuel then passes through the filtering material into the central cavity where it then flows to the diesel pump when the filter is mounted in place on the diesel engine.

  • Patent number: 4570752
Abstract: A foldable saw horse which may be constructed of conventional wood two-by-fours, comprising a cross beam, a first pair of foldable legs at one end of the cross beam, and a second pair of foldable legs at the other end. Each pair of foldable legs include U-shaped brackets on each leg near the upper end connected by a hinge pin, for pivoting the legs between a spread apart working position and a side-by-side intermediate folded position. Each hinge pin in turn is connected at its inward facing end to a pivot plate pivotally mounted on a second hinge pin secured to the underside of the cross bar inset from each opposite end, each second hinge pin extending in a direction perpendicular to that of each first hinge pin. Thus, when the legs of each pair have been pivoted to the intermediate folded position on each first hinge pin, they may then be pivoted on each second hinge pin to the final folded position in side-by-side relationship to the cross beam.

  • Patent number: 4563175
Abstract: A multiple syringe pump, comprising a pump housing, two or more seating recesses therein to receive two or more syringes for delivering two or more different substances to a patient intravenously, such as nutritional elements in one and medication substances in another, and a corresponding plurality of drive mechanisms in said pump housing powered by an electrical source for connection to each of the two or more syringes seated in said pump housing to move the syringe plungers at a controlled rate in the direction to discharge the contents of the syringe cylinder. The discharge ports of the syringes are connected to respective discharge tubes which in turn lead to a Y-connector which has its common outlet port connected to a single tube leading to a patient for intravenous infusion of the respective substances. The seating recesses of the pump housing are of different sizes to accept different sized syringes.

  • Patent number: 4544161
Abstract: A golf ball positioning device comprising a T-shaped member, having a cross-arm with spaced apart holes to receive a golf tee through any selected hole, and an elongated leg extending from said cross-arm a distance substantially equal to the distance a golfer stands from the ball. The elongated leg includes spaced apart markings to enable the golfer to note and adjust his distance from the ball. The golf tee is moved forward of the center-most hole of the cross-arm to compensate for hitting the ball too high which usually results in a slice to the right, and the tee is moved rearward of the center-most hole to compensate for hitting the ball too low which usually results in a hook to the left. Anchor pins are provided at each opposite end of the cross-arm and at the free end of the leg to anchor the device securely in place on the ground.

  • Patent number: 4541615
Abstract: A guide such as a roller and bracket means to feed electrical wires through conduit when wiring a building or other installation for electrical service, comprising a first bracket having hook means to mount to a junction box or to a second bracket, the first bracket also including an axle supported by said hook means, a roller mounted for rotation on the axle, whereby the roller is positioned for alignment with the open end of an electrical conduit connected to the junction box when the first bracket is hung thereon or on said bracket. Electrical conductors can then be fed smoothly and freely over the roller, into and through the conduit without scraping or catching on a portion of the junction box or other structure. The second bracket is used when necessary to face the roller sideways, or at a right angle to its position when the first bracket alone is hooked to a portion of the box.
