  • Patent number: 4538847
Abstract: A pivotable multiple socket for shovels comprising a rotatable socket member to receive the end of a shovel handle, the socket member being in the form of an adapter which itself seats in and is removable from the permanently mounted socket of the shovel blade, in which the rotatable socket member can be rotated to a plurality of different working positions. The rotatable socket member includes a tubular insert to rotatably seat in the permanently mounted socket of the shovel blade, a first tubular socket to receive the end of the shovel handle in axial alignment with the tubular insert of the socket member, and a second tubular socket for receiving the end of the shovel handle which extends at an oblique angle from the longitudinal axis of the tubular insert portion of the socket member. The socket member in accordance with this invention permits positioning the shovel blade at different angles to the shovel handle, both vertically and horizontally.

  • Patent number: 4531274
Abstract: An unlatching tool to uncouple the trailer from the tractor of semi-trailer truck rigs, comprising a foldable elongated bar having a hand grasp at one end and a combination safety release arm plus unlatching hook at the opposite working end. The safety release arm extends at a right angle from the working end of the bar and in one direction from the bar, while the unlatching hook extends outwardly from the bar in the opposite direction and set back from the working end a short distance. When the unlatching hook engages the coupling latch which locks the king pin of the trailer to the tractor, the safety release arm extends forward of the unlatching hook just far enough to bear against the safety release mechanism which can be moved to the safety release position by a partial rotation or twist of the bar while at the same time pulling on the bar to draw the coupling latch to the unlatched position. The trailer can then be uncoupled from the tractor.

  • Patent number: 4523758
Abstract: A golf club putter comprising a putter head having a planar striking face, a straight upper edge and a shaft extending upwardly from the upper edge at about midpoint, substantially normal thereto, and set back from the plane of the striking face. The longitudinal axis of the shaft is substantially parallel to the plane of the striking face of the club head. The bottom edge of the club head includes a flat sole portion extending from the heel toward the toe to an intermediate location, at the same time diverging downwardly away from the upper edge of the club head. The angle of diversion is such that when the sole of the club head is flat on the ground in a horizontal position, the club shaft diverges from the vertical by ten degrees or more. The shaft is relatively short, of a preselected length to reach about knee-high of each golfer for whom the club is made when its head is resting on the ground and the golfer is standing upright.

  • Patent number: 4522090
Abstract: A tool to remove shock absorbers from an automobile comprising an elongated barrel or tubular portion have a hollow bore extending therethrough and a ribbed socket at one end to receive the retaining nut at the top of a shock absorber mounted on an automobile. The barrel or tubular portion has an abutment flange extending outwardly along the side wall to catch and bear against a portion of the A-frame part of the vehicle which is adjacent to the shock absorber. The abutment flange keeps the barrel or tubular portion of the tool from rotating and holds the retaining nut received in the socket of the tool from rotating. A socket wrench is inserted down through the bore of the barrel or tubular portion of the tool to receive the head of the bolt or rod which holds the shock absorber in place.

  • Patent number: 4492369
Abstract: A door lifting and centering device for hanging heavy doors comprising a base plate, a lift plate positioned above the base plate having a jack screw member threaded through an internally threaded portion of the lift plate whereby the lift plate is raised relative to the base plate when the jack screw member is rotated. The lift plate includes projecting fingers which extend forwardly to be inserted under the bottom edge of a heavy door which is to be hung in a door frame. The jack screw member includes an elongated shank which extends upwardly to waist height of the installer or other convenient height whereby the installer does not have to stoop in order to rotate the jack screw. He can remain upright whereby he is able to see the holes in the door hinges and properly align them with the corresponding holes in the door jamb or door frame, while at the same time rotating the jack screw causing the door to slowly lift until he can see that the apertures in the hinge and in the door frame are properly aligned.

  • Patent number: 4488391
Abstract: A centering clip for window frames, comprising an element of spring metal to provide a resilient clip, having a base portion attached to the top edge of a window frame, and inclined portion integrally formed with the base portion at an acute angle, with the inclined portion having a row of teeth along the free end. When the window frame is inserted into the mounting opening or mounting frame, the inclined portion of the resilient clip engages the top edge of the mounting frame and is compressed when the window frame is inserted. The row of teeth at the free end of the centering clip bites into the top edge of the mounting frame and holds the window frame against removal until the centering clip is depressed to disengage the teeth from the top edge of the mounting frame. The window frame is thus held within the mounting frame until a workman is able to nail the window frame in place.
