Abstract: The invention describes a bed in a suitcase requiring minimal preparation for use. It is intended for storage in, for example, a car or truck, and for use when the driver may not be in a condition to drive home. The bed is formed by mating a foldable mattress or pallet with bed clothing, such as an undersheet with a half-width sleeping bag cover. The foldable mattress has a number of cushioning elements which can be folded, especially when used in conjunction with material hinges, to fit within the suitcase. The cushions may also be extended to lie side by side in an extended position for sleeping. Some or all of those elements may have a hard shell mounted to their undersides to protect the mattress from broken glass or sharp objects. The suitcase and hard shell materials are resistant to water absorption and the bed clothing is removable and washable.
Abstract: A threaded connector is disclosed for attaching a handle to a tool head, such as a rake or a broom. The threaded connector may include a central cap or plug and a plurality of opposed wings extending radially outwardly therefrom. The wings are in the form of hollow partial cylinders and are hingeably attached to the cap. The cap is positioned on the end of the handle and the wings are folded downwardly and inwardly to engage the handle. Each wing includes partial thread segments that register to form a full thread when the wings are folded together. The full thread has a shallow taper such that tightening of the connector within a mating socket in a tool head causes the connector to bind or wedge itself into the socket. To provide additional resistance to loosening a locking ring has longitudinal mortices which key into aligned rabbets in the connector and in the socket.
Abstract: A turnstile is disclosed which is easily adapted to operate in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction of rotation and which does not permit reverse rotation during operation. Resistance to rotation in the reverse direction is achieved by means of a drag shoe mechanism. As a rotor mechanism rotates about a corresponding stator mechanism it trails a drag shoe by a rigid connecting rod, or drag arm, across a bearing surface. The drag arm is disposed at a non-perpendicular angle. In reverse motion the angularly inclined drag arm forces the drag shoe to jam into the bearing surface and thereby act as a brake. The turnstile is provided with a quick release wrench, an safety release bolt which protrudes beyond the housing of the turnstile mechanism, and emergency release instructions labels clearly visible on the top and pillar of the turnstile.
Abstract: This patent invention relates to Multiple Hand Grip System. This system may be used to cover the hand support pipes which are located in transit buses, subway train cars, light rail transit cars, street cars, trams, trolley buses etc. The system includes generally a cylindrical body, having an inner and outer wall and opposite open ends and exterior gripping means. The system is molded from plastic material high coefficient of friction and moldability of the material result in non-slippery, convenient, comfortable friction, and safe, hand grips for both left and right hands of the users. The plastic material used to mold the system provides a good feel to touch and good friction with hand skin. The exterior gripping means of the system, conforms to the shape of users' left and right hands. It provides adequate support and retention of the users' hands even though the users relax their grips.
Abstract: An illuminated bag having an open end and a closed end, a transparent pouch associated with the closed end, and chemiluminescent wand disposed within the pouch for illumination upon activating the chemiluminescent wand.
Abstract: A relatively hygienic dispenser is provided for dispensing particulate matter such as bulk foods, gum drops or even hardware such as nuts and bolts. A dispenser mechanism is attached to a storage bin or receptacle. The material, typically food or sticky candy, falls toward dispenser module due to gravity. The dispenser has a four sided roughly rectangular, variable geometry passageway. Two opposed sides of the passageway are rigid, and the other two opposed sides are flexible. A scoop is pivotally mounted to the two rigid walls and extends across the passageway between them. The two lobed scoop accepts material from the receptacle, is turned either clockwise or counter-clockwise, and discharges material, presumably to a waiting container. The scoop turns between, and in contact with, the two spring-loaded sides, or skirts, and two flexible scraper walls.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of forming a sintered article of powder metal comprising blending graphite and lubricant with a pre-alloyed iron based powder, pressing said blended mixture to shape in a single compaction stage sintering said article, and then high temperature sintering said article in a reducing atmosphere to produce a sintered article having a density greater than 7.4 g/cc.

Abstract: A method of producing bearing surfaces from powder metal blanks comprising: blending carbon and ferro alloys and lubricant with compressible elemental iron powder, pressing the blending mixture to form the powder metal blank, high temperature sintering the blank in a reducing atmosphere, compressing the powder metal blanks so as to produce a densified layer having a bearing surface, and then heat treating the densified layer.
Abstract: A roll of stretched plastic film having an embossed surface for trapping air so as to facilitate unwinding of the roll of stretched film, stretched between 50 and 300 percent of the original length of the film, for wrapping pallet loads and particularly includes a folded edge for strengthening the edge, which folded edge is applied in a manner so as to minimize piling up of the rolled folded edge.

Abstract: A speed control shifter is provided for use with an hydraulic automotive drive train. The shifter is intended for co-axial mounting on an existing variable speed reciprocating hydraulic pump swash plate angle control shaft. It employs a pair of input plates each intermittently connected to an output plate rigidly connected to the shaft. One input plate is connected to a speed selector handle, the other input plate is linked to an accelerator cable. When starting from neutral activation of one solenoid causes the position of the output plate, and hence the swash plate, to be controlled by motion of the accelerator cable. This allows the automobile to move away from a stopped position as the engine accelerates from idle. Once a first chosen speed range is reached a second solenoid is activated to link the motion of the output plate to the position of the speed selector, and the first solenoid is de-activated to permit normal increases and decreases in speed within the chosen speed range.

Abstract: A dispenser for razors having a housing, a helical coil for stacking and dispensing the packages of razors, coin activating means for activating the helical coil for dispensing one package from said housing, a shaving cream canister for containing shaving cream, a heating coil for heating a portion of said shaving cream, carbon dioxide pressurized canister for pushing the heated shaving cream, and a spigot for releasing the heated shaving cream from the heating coil.
Abstract: A process of coining sintered articles of powder metal comprising: blending carbon, ferro manganese, and lubricant with compressible elemental iron powder, pressing the blended mixture to form the articles, high temperature sintering of the articles in a reducing atmosphere and then coining the sintered articles to final shape so as to narrow the tolerance variability of coined articles and substantially eliminate secondary operations.

In the preferred embodiment, the portable container also has a second set of receptacles adapted to receive powders, each receptacle extending between the upper and lower surfaces of the container, having an opening on the lower surface for receiving the powders and an opening on the upper surface for discharging the powders.
Abstract: A runner for a shipping pallet is described which includes a sheet of paperboard folded to present spaced apart top and bottom walls, a pair of side walls and a central web running parallel to and between those side walls. The central web extends from the top wall to the bottom wall. The top wall and central web have cutout slots to receive braces made of paperboard. Each brace is formed from a multiply folded paperboard blank that has been slotted to form a block which mates with the central web of the runner when the block is inserted into one of the slots. Paperboard pallets are also described in which these runners are used in co-operation with paperboard decking sheets which may also have cut-outs to mate with the runners.
