  • Patent number: 5200015
Abstract: A process for joining variously shaped vacuum heat insulating elements having edges adapted to be butted against each other or to overlap each other. A bellows is tightly connected with each vacuum heat insulating element in the area of its edges, the free edge of the bellows projecting beyond the element. The heat insulating elements are positioned such that the edges of the bellows rest against one another in an aligned manner or overlap, and the bellows are tightly connected with one another. The heat insulating elements are then moved against one another until their edges rest against one another or overlap, and are tightly connected with one another. The gap at the joint formed between the heat insulating elements and the bellows is evacuated and closed off tightly.

  • Patent number: 5197720
Abstract: The invention concerns a clamping tool for non-positive and high-precision clamping of workpieces by means of an expansion element, which is held inside the clamping tool and, in the unclamped state, is matched to the workpiece with little play but movably, and to which force may be applied radially over a large area. When force is applied, the expansion element expands reversibly, and bears non-positively against the workpiece, and holds it in place with high rotational accuracy and high clamping force. In order to be able to permit a high expansion rate of the expansion element in conjunction with a closed configuration of the latter, the invention proposes for the expansion element a so-called shape memory alloy, which is operated in the austenitic state with reversible stress-inducible possibility of change of the microstructure into the martensitic state.

  • Patent number: 5197440
Abstract: A constructionally simpler and more reliable pressure-controlled valve device operates with opening pressure which can be switched to low pressure and high pressure on the cooling fluid circuit of an internal combustion engine, partricularly for a motor vehicle. The valve device can be subjected to gas or liquid from inside the cooling fluid container, depending on the operating condition of the engine, and a higher or lower opening pressure is effective depending on the type of pressure load. In such a device, two valves are functionally arranged within one unit such that they are located in parallel and open separately from one another for the different pressure ranges. For this purpose, the closing bodies of the low-pressure valve and of the high-pressure valve are located tightly one upon the other when the high-pressure valve is not open. When the high-pressure valve becomes effective, the flow outlet from the low pressure valve is shut off. It is shut off by a float raised by the cooling fluid.

  • Patent number: 5198385
Abstract: Bond sites on an integrated circuit chip are connected to bond sites on a package by photolithographically defining and selectively plating an air bridge between the chip and spaced-apart metallized bond regions of the package. A layer of dry photoresist is laminated onto top surfaces of each of the chip and the support package, so that photoresist bridges an air gap between the chip and the package. Next, the masking material is patterned, to expose the bond sites on the chip and the package. Over the entirety of the patterned structure, a thin plating-seed barrier metal layer is non-selectively formed. The seed metal layer is then covered with a second mask layer which is photolithographically patterned to expose a portion of the barrier seed metal layer extending between bond sites of the chip and the package. A second relatively thick metal layer is electroplated on the exposed seed metal layer, to form a conductive bridge between the chip and the package.

  • Patent number: 5195799
Abstract: A convertible has a windscreen arranged behind a row of seats and extending upwards in the operating position approximately perpendicularly between two adjustable side panes. The panes are height-adjustable on a path which is curved with respect to the vehicle passenger compartment and can be lowered into an out-of-use position in the direction of the vehicle floor. The panes are also adjustable with auxiliary force actuation, and an entrainer which acts between a side pane and the windscreen is arranged on at least one of the side panes. By means of the entrainer, the position of the windscreen can be changed in accordance with the movement of the side pane. Thus, it is possible to compensate the transverse path of the side pane with respect to the windscreen by way of the entrainer.

  • Patent number: 5195926
Abstract: A flap arrangement, especially for a ventilation or airconditioning system or vehicles, has two flaps which are pivotable about pivot axes parallel to one another and which are coupled to one another for the oppositely directed pivoting movement. The coupling is made via a coupling rod articulated on the two flaps. To achieve a pivoting angle of the same amount on both flaps, the articulation points are so determined that, on the one hand, the radius of the circular paths described by them during the pivoting of the flaps is of equal size and, on the other hand, during the pivoting of the flaps, an imaginary effective straight line respectively connecting the two articulation points rotates about an imaginary center of rotation located approximately in the middle between the two pivot axes.

  • Patent number: 5195798
Abstract: A retractable roof for vehicles, in particular a hard roof for cabriolets, has roof pillars extending to the side of a rear window of the roof. The roof pillars, as seen from the vehicle side, enclose an obtuse angle with that longitudinal region of the roof which is situated in front of them. The pillars have a stowing position, when the roof is retracted, in a receiving space which is situated below the roof pillars when the roof is closed and into which the roof can be moved along its length, with the roof pillars in the lead, during retraction, after which they rest steeply erect in the receiving space. To ensure that the receiving space in the vehicle can be usefully reduced in size, the rear window forms the lower boundary of the roof over its width lying between the roof pillars when the roof is closed and can be moved out of its operating position into a stowing position which, with the roof retracted, is at a vertical distance from the lower ends of the roof pillars.
