  • Patent number: 4376381
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pin tumbler cylinder lock comprising an outer cylinder, an inner cylinder rotatably arranged in a cylindrical opening in the outer cylinder, a key-way intended for a key and at least two rows of parallel bores arranged in the outer cylinder, in which bores spring loaded tumbler pins are slidably arranged. The at least two rows of bores have different number of bores, whereby the key will be prevented from retraction in one or more angular position of the inner cylinder. The present invention relates further to a key for such type of locks, the key having notches along its edge, the depth of which being interrelated with the length of the bottom tumbler pins. At least the notch at the extreme end of the key is removed, whereby the key may be retracted in both positions.

  • Patent number: 4375960
Abstract: The present invention relates to means for transporting/rotating the pot of a smelting furnace. The invention is particularly adapted to furnaces having rotating furnace pots and in particular to furnaces with a split furnace body. The pot is locked from rotation simply by letting the furnace pot rest on its foundation during intervals in which the pot is supposed to be at rest. The pot is rotatably arranged with respect to the furnace foundation and the rotation is produced by means of a plurality of transport means. The transport means are preferably evenly arranged around the circumference of the pot. The transport means comprises lifting means which periodically lift the pot partly or completely off its foundation. The lifting means are preferably of a type which provide a lifting force in vertical direction, either by means of a hydraulic medium or compressed air. The lifting means may for example be formed by one or more flexible hoses which communicates with a pressure producing source.

  • Patent number: 4371108
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing large tubular columns, for example, for use as the legs of off-shore well-drilling apparatus. Each column is manufactured by initially fitting stiffening ring segments to a plurality of shell segments and then welding the shell segments together to form a column section. After additional ring segments have been fitted across the joints between the shell segments, a series of tubular sections are welded together to form the column.

  • Patent number: 4367730
Abstract: An endoscope is provided with a water proof cover on its eyepiece portion or its connector portion to be connected with a light source system. The water proof cover is provided with a smooth engaging face on the internal periphery near its open end to be liquid tightly engaged with a packing ring mounted on the endoscope. There is provided a protective cover above the packing ring to prevent the ring from being damaged while the cover is removed from the endoscope. In a preferred embodiment, the water proof cover is provided with a protective sleeve which is slid into the protecting position to cover and protect the smooth engaging face while the water proof cover is removed from the endoscope. In a further preferred embodiment, the water proof cover is made into such a form as to enable the diopter ring to be rotated with the cover mounted on the endoscope.

  • Patent number: 4367215
Abstract: A method of leaching of the metal contents in natural silicates by means of mineral acids to produce a metal-containing leaching liquid and a solid residue is disclosed. The silicate is first crushed but the grain size of substantially all of it is kept above 0.1 mm. It is then leached for a period of time sufficient to form a solid residue consisting chiefly of silica. The process is controlled so that the grains do not change in size or shape in the course of the leaching process. The silicate to be leached may be anorthosite or olivinrich rock and the solid residue from the leaching process may be utilized for building material, as a source for silicon in industrial processes, as a catalyst or carrier of catalysts or as an absorbent.
