  • Patent number: 4307870
Abstract: The drum of a hoisting apparatus is axially shifted to frictionally engage a driving plate. The drum is shifted by rotating an adjacent, first disc about the drum axis relative to a coaxial stationary disc. Each of the discs has three holes of a particular configuration to define three cooperative pairs of holes. Each cooperative pair of holes receives a dowel of predetermined length so that rotation of the first disc causes the dowel to react against the discs and shift the first disc and drum away from the stationary disc and into frictional driving engagement with the driving plate.

  • Patent number: 4302697
Abstract: The invention relates to automobile sealed-beam headlamps in which a reflector and lens assembly are hermetically sealed by an epoxy resin. A pressure relief hole in the reflector eliminates the problem of excessive expansion and contraction of the atmosphere within the lamp such as would prevent forming a hermetic seal between the reflector and lens during the epoxy resin curing cycle. A deformable metal pellet forms a hermetic seal in the pressure relief hole. An epoxy resin is applied over the deformable metal seal and cured to produce a final permanent seal.

  • Patent number: 4297311
Abstract: A method of producing an improved mineral board and the resulting product are disclosed. According to the present invention, the board is predominantly composed of perlite and a binder therefor, preferably urea-formaldehyde resin. The perlite is crushed after the composition is in its final shape but before the binder is set whereby its strength is substantially increased. The composition and process of making the board substantially reduce energy costs as compared to known methods for making wet-process mineral boards. The product composition may include up to 95% perlite by weight.
