  • Patent number: 8009329
Abstract: A fluorescence-based correlation mark is included in a printed document by encoding the correlation mark as phase shifts in the yellow halftone image only of a printed color document. The correlation mark transparency key is likewise printed using only yellow colorant or can be printed in black or with another colorant or mixture of colorants that will appear dark or black when subjected to UV illumination. UV illumination of the document without use of the transparency key, and use of the transparency key without UV illumination of the document are insufficient to reveal the fluorescence-based correlation mark. UV illumination of the document while the transparency key is overlaid with the document will allow the correlation mark to be perceived.

  • Patent number: 8010672
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling utilization of resources(s) of contention by a plurality of devices of a single or multiple priority classes. A utilization scaling factor is determined for each class for the resource(s) and compared with a threshold value. An apersistence property pattern is then created for each class that includes apersistence property entries corresponding to apersistence update cycles of an apersistence pattern window. Where the scaling factor is in a first range corresponding to low resource loading, the class pattern includes unimpeded entries allowing the devices in a class to attempt to utilize the resource. Otherwise, the class pattern is created with at least one blocking entry that prevents all devices in a class from attempting utilization of the resource during the corresponding apersistence update cycle. An apersistence property pattern entry is then provided from the pattern to the devices in each apersistence update cycle of the apersistence pattern window.

  • Patent number: 8006961
Abstract: In an improvement of the apparatus and method disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 7,354,029 B1, a Process Fluid Treating Apparatus includes an ejector assembly fluidically connected to a process fluid supply assembly. A Coanda airfoil is located in the ejector assembly. Primary fluid is injected into the ejector duct and forms a Coanda layer, flowing adjacent to the walls of a Coanda Airfoil. A process fluid, or part of it, flows toward the ejector assembly through the Process Fluid Supply Assembly, which forces the process fluid to flow through a plurality of fluid ports to separate that process fluid into a plurality of separate streams and turns those separate streams of process fluid through its perforated tip towards the Coanda layer whereby the contact between the process fluid and the Coanda layer is controlled.

  • Patent number: 8003823
Abstract: Aromatic N-halosulfonamide organic compounds have been known for over one hundred years. The ability of these compounds to release active halogen ions has been utilized in a range of biocidal and fungicidal applications. The most widely used halogen sulfonamide organic compound for these applications is Chloramine-T. This invention deals with the new use of discovered compositions of matter, halo active aromatic sulfonamide organic compounds and use of solutions of these compounds as, odor control agents. The odor control solutions may be buffered to a predetermined pH. The odor control compositions may further incorporate small percentages of low molecular weight alcohols and wetting agents.

  • Patent number: 8001666
Abstract: A method is provided that includes providing a mold on a temporary substrate, e.g., a sapphire substrate. Next, a material such as PZT paste is deposited into the mold. Then, the mold is removed to obtain elements formed by the mold. The formed elements will then be sintered. After sintering, electrode deposition is optionally performed. The sintered elements are then bonded to a final target substrate and released from the temporary substrate through laser liftoff. Further, electrodes may also be optionally deposited at this point.

  • Patent number: 8005385
Abstract: A system is provided that determines the amount of toner on a photo receptor in a xerographic operation. A photo receptor is charged in one or more locations to create an image. A developer places a patch of a predetermined amount of toner onto the one or more charge locations of the photo receptor. A light emitting diode projects light onto the photo receptor, wherein the intensity of the light varies based on the voltage provided to the LED. An optical reflective sensor measures the reflectance of the toner placed on the photo receptor, the amount of reflectance of the toner is related in a known way to the intensity of the LED. A direct relationship between LED intensity and the reflectance of the toner allow for accurate extrapolation at LED intensities greater than the point of saturation.
