  • Patent number: 7813114
Abstract: A mounting device for computer peripheral equipment. Preferably included are two spring arms, friction boots mounted on the ends of the spring arms, a non-skid pad and a rotating platform. The rotating platform ensures that the non-skid pad can be positioned between a first position, where the pad and friction boots cooperate to grip computer display bezels over a first range of bezel thicknesses and a second position, where the pad and friction boots cooperated to grip computer display bezels over a second range of bezel thicknesses. Also, the pad and friction boots are preferably dimensioned so as to render the entire mounting device self-standing when desired.

  • Patent number: 7793212
Abstract: A manual annotation system of multi-modal characteristics in multimedia files. There is provided an arrangement for selection an observation modality of video with audio, video without audio, audio with video, or audio without video, to be used to annotate multimedia content. While annotating video or audio features is isolation results in less confidence in the identification of features, observing both audio and video simultaneously and annotating that observation results in a higher confidence level.

  • Patent number: 7750858
Abstract: A drawer structure of a rod-shaped body, which does not require a complicated inner structure, is provided. In a present preferred embodiment, a structure draws a rod-shaped body out of a housing for housing the rod-shaped body. A guide for holding the rod-shaped body so that the rod-shaped body can be rotated about an axis and slid in the direction of the axis, and an encasing surface which crosses at a predetermined angle to the axis of the rod-shaped body are formed on the housing side. The rod-shaped body has an internal surface facing to the encasing surface, and a cap is formed at a tip of the rod-shaped body so that the internal surface may be a predetermined angle to the axis of the rod-shaped body. When the rod-shaped body is inserted into the guide and the rod-shaped body is rotated from a state where the encasing surface and the internal surface are contacted with each other, the rod-shaped body performs a translatory movement in an axial direction of the guide according to the cam effect.

  • Patent number: 7734632
Abstract: A method and system of generating a user profile for advertisement over a computer network is disclosed. A webpage identifier that identifies a webpage and a content category identifier that identifies a content category is generated. The webpage identifier is associated with the content category identifier if web content depicted in the webpage is relevant to the content category. A web server then receives a request for the webpage including the webpage identifier and a first user identifier from a client computer connected to the computer network. A user profile is located by determining whether the first user identifier matches a second user identifier corresponding to the user profile. The user profile includes at least one user content category identifier and a corresponding user interest score. The corresponding user interest score is increased by the predetermined amount if the content category identifier matches the user content category identifier.

  • Patent number: 7713575
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the formation of coplanar electrical interconnectors. Solder material is deposited onto a wafer, substrate, or other component of an electrical package using a complaint mold such that the terminal ends of the solder material being deposited, i.e., the ends opposite to those forming an attachment to the wafer, substrate, or other component of an electrical package are coplanar with one another. A complaint mold is used having one or more conduits for receiving solder material and having a compliant side and a planar side. The compliant side of the mold is positioned adjacent to the wafer, substrate, or other component of an electrical package allowing solder material to be deposited onto the surface thereof such that the planar side of the compliant mold provides coplanar interconnectors. An Injection Molded Solder (IMS) head can be used as the means for filling the conduits of the compliant mold of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7707436
Abstract: A notebook type of computer of one embodiment includes a display unit, a housing to which the display unit is pivotally attached, an angle sensor which detects an opening angle between the display unit and the housing, a sensor driver which A/D converts an output from the angle sensor and passes the result to a power management driver, and an angle comparison module which reads a setting value as to the opening angle and determines whether the opening angle is within a range of a predetermined angle. If the opening angle is within the predetermined range, a user is presumed to be using the notebook computer on a lap and the power management operation is performed per that presumption.

  • Patent number: 7702620
Abstract: Arrangements and methods for providing for the efficient implementation of ranked keyword searches on graph-structured data. Since it is difficult to directly build indexes for general schemaless graphs, conventional techniques highly rely on graph traversal in running time. The previous lack of more knowledge about graphs also resulted in great difficulties in applying pruning techniques. To address these problems, there is introduced herein a new scoring function while the block is used as an intermediate access level; the result is an opportunity to create sophisticated indexes for keyword search. Also proposed herein is a cost-balanced expansion algorithm to conduct a backward search, which provides a good theoretical guarantee in terms of the search cost.

  • Patent number: 7693992
Abstract: A data retrieval system provides data to a user of a client computer connected to multiple data stores and multiple other computers. A request for data is received at the client computer. The request is forwarded from the client computer to a server computer and intercepted at a reverse proxy caching connection. An attempt is made to locate the data at a data store at the reverse proxy caching connection. If the data is not found the request is forwarded to the server computer. In order to provide data to a user. A user interface is provided. Initially, data elements associated with a grouping of data elements are identified. Then, a subset of the selected data elements are selected based on weights associated with the data elements, without selecting more than a specified number of data elements that are associated with a same sub-category.

  • Patent number: 7675574
Abstract: A display mode switching device and method automatically switches a display mode of a television set to an overscan mode or to an underscan mode depending on a content of a screen. In a case of connecting a television set to a computer, a call from an application for an API in an OS is detected by a device driver when a user starts playing a DVD or a game. Accordingly, an output mode for the television set is switched to the overscan mode. In this way, a motion video or a game is displayed on the television set in the overscan mode. Meanwhile, when the user finishes playing the DVD or the game, a call for the API to release resources is detected by the device driver, and the output mode is restored to the underscan mode. In this way, a computer screen is displayed on the television set in the underscan mode.
