    Abstract: A system for automatically feeding a chemical liquid to a cooling tower includes a water reservoir for storing water circulating through the cooling tower, a water feeding pipe extending into said water reservoir, a float valve provided in a passage of said water-feeding pipe, which is actuated in response to a variation in a water level in said water reservoir to open or close said passage, a means for increasing the flow rate of water flowing through said passage to inject water from a discharge port at the time when said float valve opens, a negative pressure generating chamber located in said passage and defined by said injection of water and a chemical liquid pipe in communication with said negative pressure generating chamber. A chemical liquid in the chemical liquid pipe is injected with water from the discharge port through the negative pressure generating chamber under the action of a negative pressure generated therein.

    Abstract: A linear axis (cantilevered beam) is longitudinally displaceable relative to its support which, in turn, is displaceable laterally along an overhead frame so as to provide X-Y positioning for pick and place spindles and similar tools which are attached to the beam. A particular structural combination for accomplishing this involves a low inertia servomotor driving a speed reducer which, in turn, directly drives a short endless timing belt which, in turn, intermeshes with and drives a toothed rack in order to provide reliable, with zero backlash, high accuracy X-Y positioning of the tools. Features of the structural arrangement allow the use of component parts requiring much less precision, and thus much less cost, of manufacture than prior art, zero backlash, linear axis positioning systems.

More particularly, a method and a device for automatically applying an extruded belt-like rubber material generally referred to as "bead apex" or "bead filler" onto a core material referred to as "bead ring" which is previously mounted on a circular holding device referred to as "former" to make a bead ring/bead apex assembly. In the proposed method and device, the "apex" is drawn out from an extruder or a roll and fed to the "bead ring" and, then it is wound around and bonded to the outer periphery of the "bead ring" with rotation of the "former", and at least the leading end of the apex is caught and restrained by a holding device during at least a period from the start to the end of the apex applying process.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and apparatus for selectively and simultaneously drilling a plurality of holes in thin panels such as printed circuit boards, while providing for automatic changing of the drill bits, individually or plurally, as required. A tray of drill bits is driveable in X and a row of vacuum pickers are driveable in Y, so that the various bit locations of the tray are addressable by such X-Y positioning, and selectable vacuum pickers are extensible and retractable so as to pick and place the drill bits at various matrix locations of the tray. The vacuum pickers also are extensible and retractable through corresponding tray openings in order to deliver replacement bits to, and retrieve used bits from, a flipper assembly associated with each drilling module.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a feeder cassette for feeding electronic components into a component processing unit. The cassette includes an assembly body having a plurality of slots formed on opposing interior sides thereof to form channels within the assembly body. The channels are designed to receive a plurality of components therein, preferably in pre-packed flat tubes. A leaf spring having a button projecting from the distal end of each of the fingers of the leaf spring permits only the components from a desired "activated" channel to be released. The cassette is indexed forwardly until all of the components have been released from each of the channels sequentially. The buttons of the spring fingers also serve to hold the components within the cassette if the cassette is withdrawn from the feeder unit at any time prior to fully emptying the tubes.
