Abstract: The process for preparing 1-(6-methylpyridin-3-yl)-2-[(4-methlsulfonyl)-phenyl]ethanone of the formula I:
In a first step, 4-(methylthio)phenylacetonitrile is condensed with a 6-methylnicotinic ester to give 3-[2-(4-(methlthio)phenyl)-2-cyanoacetyl](6-methyl)pyridine of the formula II:
In a second step, the compound of formula II is hydrolyzed and decarboxylated under acidic conditions using a mixture of acetic acid and a mineral acid, to give 3-[2-(4-(methylthio)phenyl)acetyl](6-methyl)pyridine of the formula III:
Finally, in a last step, the compound of formula III is oxidized to give the end product.
Abstract: Packaging containers produced from a composite shaped by cold-forming, the term “packaging containers” including base or lid parts or base or lid parts shaped by cold-forming. The base or lid parts can be shaped by cold-forming, and a lid foil or base foil, respectively, can form the corresponding closure for the packaging container. In addition, both the base and the lid part can be shaped by cold-forming, the depressions formed in the base and lid parts advantageously lying opposite one another. Examples of these packaging containers are strip packing or blister packaging for pharmaceutical products.

Abstract: A coating film-forming method that includes a first step that involves coating a cationic electrodeposition coating composition (A) containing an electrically conducting agent, followed by washing with water and heat curing and drying to form a cured cationic electrodeposition coating film. A second step that involves coating such an anionic electrodeposition coating composition (B). The coating film formed therefrom has a chromatic color or a white color as an achromatic color onto the cured cationic electrodeposition coating film. This is followed by washing with water, and removing water by preheating or air blowing to form a non-cured anionic electrodeposition coating film. A third step that involves coating a topcoating composition (C) thereonto to form a non-cured topcoating film, and heat curing and drying a resulting laminated coating film simultaneously.
Abstract: A water based coating composition prepared by reacting an epoxy resin (A) having a bisphenol A skeletal structure and a carboxyl group-containing acrylic resin (B) in the presence of an amine compound to form an acrylic-modified epoxy resin (C), and neutralizing, and dispersing the acrylic-modified epoxy resin (C) into an aqueous medium, an amount of a quaternary ammonium salt in the acrylic-modified epoxy resin (C) being in the range of 3.0×10−4 mol or less per one gram of the resin.
Abstract: A ventilation tube incorporating an aspiration probe for aspirating pulmonary phlegm for a patient under artificial ventilation. Abstract: A patient recovering from major surgery often suffers from cracked lips and parched palate. The patient usually frequently contacts the nursing staff and requests that they provide the patient with cool water and/or cracked ice. The amount of water and/or cracked ice which the patient can have has to be very limited in order to prevent debilitating vomiting by the patient. The patient's discomfort and suffering is greatly reduced by the mouth moisturizer which via an atomizer supplies a controlled amount of water mist to the lips and palate of the patient. Also, the nurses have more time to devote to their other duties.
