Abstract: A beam index color display unit uses a single light beam scanning a two-dimensional screen of light beam sensitive three-color phosphor stripes arranged with regularity. The intensity of the light beam is modulated in response to information signals in a video signal while the scanning timing of the light beam is detected by light sensing devices disposed between each of phosphor stripes. Thus, images are displayed on the two-dimensional screen of the display unit.
Abstract: A clamp device adapted to clampingly engage items for support or connection of such items to another device or to clampingly engage a support or item for connection therewith having the clamping component constructed of plastic material capable of being injection molded and utilizing a "living hinge" connecting the pivotal clamp components to a main body portion of the clamp device with the plastic material optionally incorporating memory characteristics so that the clamping components or jaws will flex back to their originally molded open or closed positions. The clamp device also may be provided with interchangeable jaws or clamp components to enable effective size variation in the area to be embraced or encompassed by the clamping components or jaws. The clamp device also may be a vibration proof clamp associated with a thumb nut type actuating nut in the form of a ratchet arrangement to secure the clamping nut in adjusted position to prevent it from loosening due to vibration.

Abstract: The invention relates to an antenna attached to a vehicle roof glass, i.e. a glass plate fitted in an opening of the roof of a vehicle body, for receiving FM radio and TV broadcast waves in both the VHF band and the UHF band. Essentially the antenna is comprised of a main element which is combination of two linear segments each of which is a conductive strip attached to the roof glass, a feed point attached to the roof glass and a connection line which connects the main element to the feed point and extends parallel or nearly parallel to the longitudinal center axis of the vehicle body. The two linear segments of the main element extend respectively obliquely with respect to the aforementioned center axis and intersect each other. It is suitable that the two linear segments have the same length and bisect each other. Optionally the antenna may include an auxiliary element attached to the roof glass and connected to the feed point.

Abstract: A method of producing an abrasive backing or a polishing sheet material which has a nonwoven fabric of a synthetic fiber having a network structure and impregnated with a polyurethane solution. The method has the steps of completely coagulating and drying the polyurethane solution to prepare a base material, removing a skin layer from each surface thereof, dipping the resultant base material in an aqueous solution of a solvent for a short period of time, and treating it in a high-temperature atmosphere for a short period of time.
Abstract: An improved synthetic pad is used in sports equipment in a three-tiered system. A front visible layer, called a cosmetic component layer, is made to the taste and color of a player or a team. A second component is a backing pad layer. The third and novel component of the present invention is a foam insert layer of about one inch thickness. A pocket provided on the rear of the cosmetic component layer or on the front of the backing pad layer may be provided for receipt of the foam insert layer. The foam insert layer is made and structured in such a way that it provides a choice of rebound possibilities for a player. The foam insert layer may be homogeneous, or lacerated on one side to a depth of about 1/2 inch in a predetermined pattern. The laceration may be performed by either a blade or with a hot wire or with a thermosetting foam molded to its final shape.
Abstract: An apparatus for efficiently moving containers, cargo and similar objects (39) over a surface includes two parallel chains (1, 2) of links (3) with rollers (4, 5) perpendicular to and attached between the chains, alternate rollers projecting upwardly (4) and downwardly (5), respectively. The apparatus is preferably provided in association with a retrieving and dispensing apparatus (27, 28, 29, 31) so that the rollers can be positioned on a surface (32) and removed therefrom.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming expandable and collapsible shielding material wherein adhesive is applied to one side of a flat tubular strip which is wound around support wheels, the adhesive bonds together successive layers of strip to form a continuous loop of stacked strip. During the winding of the strip, the strip is maintained in a flat, straight condition for a time sufficient to allow the adhesive to achieve an initial set, thereby preventing the final product from having a curved set. After the desired number of layers are wound into the loop, the loop is removed and cut through at one point to form a single, straight stacked section of definite length which is expandable and collapsible to form a shielding or insulating material having parallel hollow cells running perpendicular to the direction of expansion and collapse.
Abstract: A fibre optic sensor 1 comprises a body 2 of a matrix material which includes an embedded length of optical fibre 3. When the body 2 is exposed to an external disturbance, mechanical and strain forces arising internally can be transmitted to the fibre 3 and will modify the passage of light therein. Pulsed light through the fibre 3 can be sensed for example by interferometry to measure the disturbance. This can provide an inexpensive and sensitive sensor construction which is capable of the remote detection of various parameters.
Abstract: Nonanoyl vanillylamide succinate was synthesized from synthetic capsaicin (nonanoyl vanillylamide) and succinic anhydride. The antinociceptive and cardiovascular effects of nonanoyl vanillylamide and its derivatives were investigated. We found that nonanoyl vanillylamide and nonanoyl vanillylamide succinate strongly inhibited the writhing response, led to the vascular smooth muscle relaxation, produces bradycardia and a fall of blood pressure. The potency of nonanoyl vanillylamide succinate was found to be slight greater than that of nonanoyl vanillylamide, when compared with the same molar dose/kg of their administrations.
