Abstract: Annular, linear, and point contact structures are described which exhibit a greatly reduced susceptibility to process deviations caused by lithographic and deposition variations than does a conventional circular contact plug. In one embodiment, a standard conductive material such as carbon or titanium nitride is used to form the contact. In an alternative embodiment, a memory material itself is used to form the contact. These contact structures may be made by various processes, including chemical mechanical planarization and facet etching.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a system and method of reconfiguring a human-machine interface. In accordance with embodiments of the present techniques, a configuration application stored on a human-machine interface may be accessed by a remote configuration station via a browser that cooperates with a server resident on the human-machine interface. The configuration application is adapted to allow reconfiguration of the human-machine interface via the browser. Additionally, control objects may be accessible via the browser to create a display file in accordance with the present techniques. The display file may provide links to the control objects that are accessible to a user via the human-machine interface. Further, the display file may be implemented on the human-machine interface for display and execution of the links to the control objects.

Abstract: A system and method of reinforcing a portion of a pipe, including applying a fiber structure to the portion of the pipe to be reinforced, and pressurizing resin through the fiber structure to the portion of the pipe to substantially saturate the fiber structure with resin, wherein the resin comprises a viscosity of less than about 10,000 cP and a surface tension of less than about 30 dynes. The resin is permitted to cure under ambient conditions at a peak exotherm of greater than about 200° F., wherein the cured resin comprises a glass transition temperature of greater than about 150° F. and a heat distortion temperature of greater than about 150° F. Pressurizing the resin may include use of a reinforcing containment and underlying pliable mold that is compressed to pressure the resin through the fiber structure to the pipe.

Abstract: A system for spraying and a method for making same. The system for spraying may comprises a sprayer having a sprayer body comprising a spray fluid passageway extending longitudinally through the sprayer body. The sprayer may also have a spray fluid inlet fitting to enable a hose operable to convey a spray fluid to be coupled to the sprayer body. In addition, the sprayer may also have a first air fitting to enable a first hose operable to convey pressurized air to be coupled to the sprayer body to trigger the sprayer to spray the spray fluid. The sprayer may have a second air fitting to enable a second hose operable to convey pressurized be coupled to the sprayer body to atomize the spray fluid. The spray fluid inlet fitting, the first air fitting, and the second air fitting are angled at an acute angle relative to the spray fluid passageway extending longitudinally through the sprayer body.
Abstract: Present embodiments are directed to a system and method for correcting video image distortion in a video system. An exemplary embodiment includes steps or features for retrieving baseline measurements for set portions of a display area, wherein the baseline measurements take into account distortions detected in the video system. Further, the exemplary embodiment includes determining stretch coefficients for the set portions of the display area, retrieving an image corresponding to the display area, and correcting positioning of a plurality of pixels of the image based on the baseline measurements and the stretch coefficients.
Abstract: A technique for storing accurate operating current values using programmable elements on memory devices. More specifically, programmable elements, such as antifuses, located on a memory device are programmed with measured operating current values corresponding to the memory device, during fabrication. The memory device may be incorporated into a memory module that is incorporated into a system. Once the memory module is incorporated into a system, the programmable elements may be accessed such that the system can be configured to optimally operate in accordance with the operating current values measured for each memory device in the system.

Abstract: A system and method for predicting operation of a plant or process receive an input value from the plant or process. An integrity of a non-linear model corresponding to a local input space of the input value may be determined. The non-linear model may include an empirical representation of the plant or process. If the integrity is above a first threshold, non-linear model may be used to provide a first output value. However, if the integrity is below the first threshold, a linearized first principles model may be used to provide a second output value. The linearized first principles model may include an analytic representation of the plant or process. Additionally, the analytic representation of the plant or process may be independent of the empirical representation of the plant or process. The first output value and/or the second output value may be usable to manage the plant or process.

Abstract: A high-efficiency liquid oxygen (LOX) storage/delivery system utilizes a portable LOX/delivery apparatus with a portable LOX container. A portable-unit LOX transfer connector is connected to the portable LOX container and is connectable to a main source of LOX in a primary reservoir LOX container. A portable-unit oxygen gas transfer connector is provided for transferring oxygen gas from the portable LOX container to an oxygen gas delivery device for delivering oxygen gas to a patient. An inter-unit oxygen gas transfer connector also is provided for connecting the portable apparatus to a stationary source of oxygen gas in the primary reservoir container, for transferring oxygen gas to the portable apparatus. A portable-unit primary relief valve is connected to the portable LOX container for venting oxygen gas out of the portable LOX container when pressure in the portable LOX container reaches a predetermined level.

Abstract: The method includes obtaining input data representative of a first parameter of a cryogenic medium in a cryogenic cooling system is provided. The method further includes calculating an expected value representative of a second parameter of the cryogenic medium in the cooling system via a predefined physics based model. A second input data representative of the second parameter of the cryogenic medium in the cooling system is estimated. The expected value is compared to the second input data and difference between the expected value and the second input data is correlated to statistical data to estimate a likelihood of cryogenic cooling system event.
Abstract: A system and method for ascertaining the identity of an object within an enclosed article. The system includes an acquisition subsystem utilizing a stationary radiation source and detector, a reconstruction subsystem, a computer-aided detection (CAD) subsystem, and a 2D/3D visualization subsystem. The detector may be an energy discriminating detector. The acquisition subsystem communicates view data to the reconstruction subsystem, which reconstructs it into image data and communicates it to the CAD subsystem. The CAD subsystem analyzes the image data to ascertain whether it contains any area of interest. Any such area of interest data is sent to the reconstruction subsystem for further reconstruction, using more rigorous algorithms and further analyzed by the CAD subsystem. Other information, such as risk variables or trace chemical detection information may be communicated to the CAD subsystem to be included in its analysis.

Abstract: The trip unit of a circuit breaker provides overload protection for a contactor used to energize a load such as a motor while still providing conventional protection for the wiring serving the motor. Abstract: A technique is provided for enhancing performance of computer-assisted data operating algorithms in a medical context. Datasets are compiled and accessed, which may include data from a wide range of resources, including controllable and prescribable resources, such as imaging systems. Abstract: A device and system having improved timing control of input signals. Abstract: A method is disclosed for reducing the effects of buckling, also referred to as cracking or wrinkling in multilayer heterostructures. The present method involves forming a planarization layer superjacent a semiconductor substrate. A barrier film having a structural integrity is formed superjacent the planarization layer. A second layer is formed superjacent the barrier film. The substrate is heated sufficiently to cause the planarization layer to expand according to a first thermal coefficient of expansion, the second layer to expand according to a second thermal coefficient of expansion, and the structural integrity of the barrier film to be maintained. This results in the barrier film isolating the planarization layer from the second layer, thereby preventing the planarization layer and the second layer from interacting during the heating step.

Abstract: The present technique provides a system and method for automatically releasing a power connection between an aircraft and a ground power unit. The power connection may have a release mechanism, such as a straight-pull coupling, which disconnects in response to movement of the aircraft or the ground power unit. The release mechanism also may disconnect in response to a critical tension within a power cable of the power connection. The power connection also may have a rotatable mount for the release mechanism, such that the power cable is alignable with tension in the power cable. The present technique also may have a variety of sensors to trigger a power shutdown and automatic release of the power connection.
