Abstract: The present technique provides for the use of spectroscopic probes, such as Raman probes, within the conduits of a polyolefin production system. The Raman probe or other spectroscopic probes may be used to obtain spectroscopic measurements of the contents of the conduits. The spectroscopic measurements may be processed and analyzed to determine the composition of the conduit contents. In addition, the spectroscopic measurements may be used in conjunction with correlations or other statistical models to determine one or more properties of interest of a constituent of the conduit contents. One or more processes upstream and/or downstream of the conduit may be adjusted in response to the determined composition or composition properties.
Abstract: Memory devices configured to reduce coupling noise between adjacent wordlines in a memory array. More specifically, wordline drivers are interleaved such that adjacent wordlines are driven by wordline drivers enabled by different row decoders. Each wordline driver includes a weak transistor to ground and a strong transistor to ground. By disabling the wordline driver on the wordlines directly adjacent to the active wordlines, a path is provided to drive the coupling noise from the active wordline to ground through the strong transistor.

Abstract: A technique for etching with a single layered patterned photomask at wavelengths of 193 nanometers or less. Specifically, a method for etching a bottom anti-reflectant coating layer that utilizes a combination of CF4, CH2F2, and O2 to produce a stabilized pattern in the photoresist layer. The etching process results in a structure with a defined pattern having minimal defects and that maintains integrity through the remainder of the etching.
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system and method for compensating for spoke light in a video unit (10). More specifically, there is provided a method comprising measuring a first light level during a non-spoke time of a color wheel (14) to generate a non-spoke light level; and setting a spoke light compensation value based on the measured non-spoke light level. There is also provided a video unit (10) comprising a light source (12) configured to generate a first light level during a non-spoke time of a color wheel (14), a photodiode assembly (26) configured to measure the first light level to generate a non-spoke light level, and a processor (20) configured to set a spoke light compensation value based on the non-spoke light level.
Abstract: A hybrid power plant includes at least one fuel cell having a cathode inlet and a cathode outlet in flow communication with the cathode inlet along a re-circulation flow path. A reformer is configured to reform air and fuel, and the fuel cell includes an anode inlet in flow communication with the reformer and an anode outlet in flow communication with the reformer along a re-circulation flow path. Compressed air is supplied to a recuperator heated by turbine exhaust, and heated compressed air is mixed with re-circulated exhaust from the fuel cell prior to entering the fuel cell. A tail gas burner combusts a mixture of cathode exhaust and reformed residual fuel, and combustion gases are directed to the turbine.
Abstract: A micromachined ultrasonic transducer array comprising a multiplicity of cMUT cells built on a substrate. Each cMUT cell comprises a compliant support structure built on the substrate, a membrane supported over a cavity by the compliant support structure, a first electrode supported by the membrane, and a second electrode that forms a capacitor with the first electrode, the cavity being disposed between the first and second electrodes. The compliant support structure uncouples the non-membrane outer surface of each cMUT cell from the supporting substrate.
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for determining thickness and thermal conductivity for an insulative coating disposed on a substrate in an object. The apparatus includes a source for rapidly applying a multiple optical pulses on a surface of the object, where the surface comprises the insulative coating. The system further includes a recording system configured to collect data representative of the propagation of the optical pulses in the object. The apparatus further includes a processor coupled to the recording system and configured to receive the data from the recording system and configured to determine a thickness value and a thermal conductivity value for the insulative coating.

Abstract: A pulse oximeter method and apparatus which provides (1) a notch filter at a distance between a modulation frequency and a common multiple of commonly used power line frequencies (50, 60, 100 and 120) and also (2) a demodulation frequency greater than a highest pulse rate of a person and lower than any harmonic of 50, 60, 100 or 120 Hz, to filter ambient light interference, while choosing an optimum demodulation frequency that avoids interference from the notch filter or from harmonics of the line interference. Also, ambient light for any low frequency interference, such as power line interference, is measured both before and after each of the light emitter wavelengths and the average of the ambient light is then subtracted from the detected signal.

Abstract: The present invention provides a computer implemented method for maintaining a knowledge base. The method taking as input, text examples that are tagged with a structural markup language; and maps knowledge nodes in the knowledge base with the tagged examples to determine: (1) the knowledge nodes that best match the tagged examples, and (2) the knowledge nodes that are best connected to the tagged examples. The results are displayed to the user, who verifies that the tagged examples match the selected knowledge nodes. Based on the user response, indices of the knowledge nodes are updated. The method may further include determining discrepancies between the existing knowledge base and the tagged examples, and further displaying the discrepancies to the user. The user can update the missing information in the knowledge base to remove the discrepancies in the existing knowledge base.
