  • Patent number: 4606979
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a porous thin foil at least comprising a process for folding a first metallic plate having a large elongation percentage in half and putting a second metallic plate having a small elongation percentage between the folds of the folded first metallic plate, a process for cold-rolling a laminate of the folded first metallic plate and the second metallic plate put between the folds of the folded first metallic plate, and a process for separating a porous thin foil formed from the second metallic plate from the first metallic plate. The porous thin foil thus formed has numerous elongate fissures extending perpendicular to the direction of rolling, and hence the porous thin foil has a fibrous construction.

  • Patent number: 4597707
Abstract: An automatically operating palletizer is disclosed which included a vertical support column, a horizontally positioned support beam, and means for movably mounting the horizontal support beam on the support column for vertical movement relative to the support column. A horizontally extending product beam is movably mounted on the horizontal support beam and extends perpendicularly thereto. A product carrier is slidably mounted on the product support beam for movement along its length. Drive means are provided to drive the horizontal support beam and the product support beam to a plurality of vertical and horizontal positions relative to the support column, and also to drive the product carrier along the support beam. As a result the product carrier is positioned at any of a plurality of predetermined positions in a three dimensional volume to move products from one position, e.g. a pickup station, to any of a plurality of other predetermined positions.

  • Patent number: 4571563
Abstract: Cascaded dual-mode resonance cavities are separated by plates having each a cruciform iris therein, the arms of which have lengths determined by a direct and precise procedure starting from a conventional Butterworth prototype filter. The transfer function parameters are altered to change the filter response and the group delay performance is determined and compared to an ideal flat response for producing a penalty function signal from the difference in order to modify the parameters again in such direction that the penalty function signal is likely to be reduced. The process is repeated until the penalty function signal is minimum, whereby a compact structure is realized which provides an attenuation response having sharp cut-off slopes at the edges of the signal bandwidth together with a close to flat in-band group delay response.

  • Patent number: 4570463
Abstract: A needle selection device for use in a knitting machine having revolving needle carriers and including pivotable selectors that operate to bring one end of each selector into actuating relation with a respective needle. A jack is coupled to the needle and, depending upon the pivot position of the selector, moves between an active position to cause that needle to be selected for operation and an inactive preset position by which that needle is not selected. A spring is associated with the jack to bias the jack to its active position. The pivot position of the selector is electromagnetically controlled.

  • Patent number: 4569823
Abstract: A powder metallurgical method of producing metal bodies using spherical powder, produced by inert gas atomization, from magnetizable material with a particle size distribution closely approximating the so called Fuller curve for maximum density packing of spherical particles. Said powder is magnetized and filled into a form, which may take place before or after magnetization, said mixed and magnetized powder then sintered in said form with the exclusion of air, to produce a sintered body without communicating porosity.

  • Patent number: 4564139
Abstract: A fluid packaging arrangement comprises tubular side walls and end walls disposed at the ends thereof, forming a bottom and a top, wherein the top comprises thermoplastic material without a carrier material, is injection moulded to the outer edge of the tube along that edge and has a pouring spout, and the bottom is quadrangular and has triangular flaps which are folded over to lie against at least one adjacent panel. In order to provide such a packaging arrangement with a particularly advantageous bottom, the invention proposes that at least two mutually oppositely disposed triangular flaps of the bottom are folded inwardly into the plane of the bottom or outwardly on to the side wall, about the lower edge between the bottom and the side wall, and fixed in that position.

  • Patent number: 4535029
Abstract: Improved coating and method of forming a nondewettable coating in a reactive carbon monoxide atmosphere wherein a small portion of palladium, platinum or mixture thereof is added to the coating mixture before the mixture is applied to the substrate. Alternatively, in the case of electrolytic deposition, a thin layer of palladium, platinum or mixture thereof is, e.g. electrolessly or by sputtering or silkscreening, deposited on a substrate before a tin or tin alloy coating is deposited, such as by sputtering, silkscreening, etc. The reaction temperature required to form a nondewettable bond is reduced or increased depending on the tin alloy content, but it appears that if platinum or palladium is participating in the reaction for the same alloy, the temperature for achieving the bond appears to be reduced.
