Abstract: An installation for etching objects comprises at least one etching machine, in which metal is etched from the objects treated, the etching medium being enriched with metal. The etching medium is regenerated in at least one electrolytic cell by removing metal. Two buffer tanks are located in the lines which connect the etching machine to the electrolytic cell. A first control circuit ensures a substantially constant density of the etching medium in the etching machine. This takes place by the supply of depleted etching medium from the first buffer tank to the etching machine and by the removal of enriched etching medium from the etching machine into the second buffer tank. A second control circuit ensures a substantially constant density in the electrolytic cell by the supply of enriched etching medium from the second buffer tank into the electrolytic cell and by the removal of a corresponding quantity of depleted etching medium from the electrolytic cell into the first buffer tank.
Abstract: In a biospecific multianalyte assay the use of microspheres and fluorescent labels with substantially different fluorescence decay times, is combined. The assay is performed in a suspension of microspheres in the form of a pool of different microsphere categories, where the categories represent different analytes. The microspheres belonging to the respective categories are first coated with a specific reactant, i.e. the microspheres function as a solid support for the reactant and for a biospecific reaction. Fluorescent labels having a short decay time are used to identify the category of each individual microsphere, while fluorescent labels having a long decay time are used to determine the concentration of a particular analyte on the microsphere by means of the biospecific reaction.

Abstract: A pipe interrupter, which is particularly suitable for installation in a sanitary fitting, comprises in a housing a chamber, into which a water inlet pipe, a water outlet pipe and a ventilating passage open. A resilient closing flap comprises an attachment section as well as a closing section connected thereto in the manner of a hinge. Normally, as long as reduced pressure does not prevail in the inlet pipe, the closing section covers the opening aperture of the ventilation passage into the chamber, so that on the one hand no atmospheric air may enter and on the other hand no water may emerge. However, if a reduced pressure occurs in the pipe system, which is connected to the inlet pipe, then the closing section of the closing flap tilts by a certain angle, until it closes off the opening point of the inlet pipe into the chamber and on the other hand opens the ventilation passage to the chamber.
