Abstract: Derivatives of trifluoromethyl-substituted anthranilic acid amides, e.g., N-methyl-o-amino-.alpha.,.alpha.,.alpha.-trifluoromethyl-p-toluamide, are useful as minor tranquilizers and muscle relaxants.
Abstract: 2-Alkyl-5-phenethyl-4-oxazolecarboxylic acids, esters and carbonyl halides are disclosed, which are useful as intermediates in the preparation of known benzocycloheptaoxazoles.
Abstract: The compounds are 4-naphthyl-4-lower alkyl substituted-2-oxygenated-2-butenes, or butanes; the naphthyl position may be unsubstituted or 6-substituted, e.g., 2-(6-methoxynaphthyl)-2-penten-4-ol, and are useful as pharmaceuticals.
Abstract: Disclosed are compounds of the class 1-phenyl-2,3-butadien-1-ol e.g. 2-(p-biphenyl)-3,4-pentadien-2-ol, which are useful by reason of their pharmacological activity in animals, e.g., as anti-inflammatory agents and tranquilizers. Said compounds can be prepared, e.g., by reduction of a corresponding 4-substituted-1-phenyl-2-butyne-1-ol with a complex hydride such as lithium aluminum hydride.
Abstract: Imidazolyl-phenoxyphenyl-carbinols and ketones, e.g., .alpha.-(p-phenoxyphenyl)-1-methyl-2-imidazolylmethanol and p-phenoxyphenyl 1-methyl-2-imidazolyl ketone, are useful as hypolipidemic agents. The ketones are obtainable by oxidation of corresponding imidazolyl-phenoxyphenyl-carbinols.
Abstract: Aryl-butadienoic acids, e.g., 4-(p-tetradecyloxyphenyl)-2-methyl-buta-2,3-dienoic acid, are prepared by a process comprising converting an acyl halide of an aryl lower alkanoic acid to its corresponding .beta.,.beta.,.beta.-trichloroethyl ester of the desired aryl-butadienoic acid which is then treated with zinc to obtain the corresponding free arylbutadienoic acid.
Abstract: Phenoxyphenyl pyridyl carbinols and ketones, e.g., p-[4'-(2,2-dimethylpropyl)-phenoxy]-phenyl-(4-pyridyl)-carbinol, are useful as pharmaceutical agents. The ketones are obtainable by oxidation of corresponding phenoxyphenyl pyridyl carbinols.
Abstract: The compounds are 4-aryl substituted buta-2,3-dienoic acids and esters thereof which may also be lower alkyl-substituted at any of the 2- and 4-positions, e.g., 4-(p-methoxyphenyl)-2-methyl-buta-2,3-dienoic acid. The compounds are useful as pharmaceuticals, e.g., as anti-inflammatory agents and hypolipidemic agents.

Abstract: The compounds are cyclic acetals of 4'-(.alpha.-hydroxy-.alpha.-alkyl-p-tolyloxy)pivalophenones, e.g., ethylene glycol acetal of 4'-(.alpha.-hydroxy-.alpha.-heptadecyl-p-tolyloxy)pivalophenone, and are useful as anti-diabetic agents.
Abstract: The compounds are aryl-pyridazinone derivatives, e.g., 1-methyl-5-(2'-fluoro-5'-trifluoromethylphenyl)-1H-pyrazolo [4,3-c]pyridazin-6(5H)-one. They are useful as antihypertensives and are prepared by treating a hydrazinopyridazinone with a dialkylamino dialkyl-acetal.
Abstract: The compounds are 13-(lower)alkyl-9.alpha.-methyl-17.alpha.-propadienylgona-4-en-17.beta.-ol -3-ones and derivatives thereof, e.g. 9.alpha.-methyl-17.alpha.-propadienylestra-17.beta.-ol-3-one, and are useful as progestational agents.
Abstract: Benzocycloheptaoxazolones are prepared by a multi-step process starting with a lower alkyl ester of a 3-oxo-5-phenylvaleric acid. The compounds are useful as anti-inflammatories and as intermediates in the preparation of pharmaceutically useful compounds.
Abstract: 3-Alkylsulfinyl-2-indolinones, of the formula ##SPC1##E.g., 3-methylsulfinyl-5-trifluoromethyl-2-indolinone, are useful as minor tranquillizers, muscle relaxants and sedative-hypnotics and are obtainable by oxidizing corresponding 3-alkylthio-2-indolinones.
Abstract: Steroidal compounds of the invention bear a 17.beta.-oxygenated group and a 17.alpha.-.PSI.-alkyl substituted allene group, e.g., 17.alpha.-(penta-1'-2'-dienyl)-estra-4,9-dien-17.beta.-ol-3-one, and are prepared by a procedure, e.g., involving reacting a corresponding intermediate bearing a 17.alpha.-(3'-dialkylamino-3'-alkyl-substituted-1'-propynyl)-group with a complex hydride. The steroidal compounds are useful as pharmaceuticals, e.g., as progestational agents.
Abstract: Disclosed are compounds of the class 1-naphthyl-2,3-butadien-1-ol e.g. 2-(6'-methoxy-2-naphthyl)-3,4-pentadien-2-ol, which are useful by reason of their pharmacological activity in animals, e.g. as anti-inflammatory agents. Said compounds can be readily prepared by reduction of a corresponding 4-substituted-1-naphthyl-2-butyne-1-ol with a complex hydride such as lithium aluminium hydride.
