  • Patent number: 5436698
Abstract: The optical unit forms an electrostatic latent image by applying scanning light onto the photosensitive member charged by the charger device from above at an angle. The developing device forms a toner image by developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member with toner. The transfer charger device transfers the toner image formed on the photosensitive member onto a transfer charger sheet. The main body accommodates the sheet feeding section at a rear section, and the optical unit in front of the feeding section, both of which are vertically arranged. The photosensitive member and the developing device are integrated into the image formation unit, which is detachably set in the main body.

  • Patent number: 5436381
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for producing a monoalkenylbenzene which comprises alkenylating a side chain of an aromatic hydrocarbon compound having at least one hydrogen atom bonded at .alpha.-position of the side chain (such as xylene) with a conjugated diene having 4 or 5 carbon atoms (such as butadiene) in the presence of a catalyst produced by calcining the mixture of potassium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide and then heat treating the calcined product together with metallic sodium in an atmosphere of an inert gas. According to the aforesaid process, an industrially useful monoalkenylbenzene can be produced in high yield at a low cost with enhanced safety.

  • Patent number: 5436673
Abstract: Memories are provided for correction signal values respectively for a hue signal, a saturation signal and a luminance signal derived from a digital color television signal. Each of the memories consists of two memory units which are alternately used for storing new correction signal values and for reading out previously stored correction signal values. The corrected signal values are modified by a key signal, if present, in each case and are then supplied to calculation circuits to each of which a signal derived from the saturation signal is applied. The resulting fully corrected hue and saturation signals are converted back into color difference signals, but the finally corrected luminance signal requires no conversion. The raw correction signal values are supplied from a computer into which control magnitudes can be entered to produce them. These control magnitudes can be used to define corner points of a deflected line function from which the correction signals are derived.

  • Patent number: 5435901
Abstract: An electrochemical measuring sensor is proposed for determining the oxygen content in exhaust gases which has a base body made of an ion-conducting solid electrolyte in the form of a tube closed at one end, an inner electrode, an outer electrode disposed on the external surface of the probe block and having a conductor track on the connection side which has a covering layer, a ceramic protective layer and a metallic sealing ring for sealing the reference space from the exhaust gas space and for making an electrical contact to the housing in which the measuring sensor is to be inserted. The electrochemical covering layer covering the conductor track is brought down on the reference side of the probe block to below the metallic sealing ring and the track is formed with uncovered lateral extensions making electrical contact with the ring. This makes it possible to significantly prolong the service life of the measuring sensor.

  • Patent number: 5434399
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling access to at least first and second compartments defined inside an enclosure of a dispenser for goods and/or services, in such a manner as to prevent access to the second compartment while allowing access to the first compartment. An identifying object of the access-seeking person is recognized, the object being inserted from outside the dispenser. The resulting signal is communicated in an encrypted manner with a central unit which, in turn, communicates in an encrypted manner with an actuator, so as to control the actuator. The actuator is disposed inside the second compartment and is adapted to allow opening/closing of a lock associated with the second compartment. The central unit generates an encrypted message with the aid of an own key specific to the central unit.

  • Patent number: 5433691
Abstract: An elastic roll member that can be suitably used in OA printers, facsimile machines and in the developing unit and the paper feed unit of an electronic copying machine comprises a shaft member having a circular cross section and an elastic member concentrically attached to the outer periphery of the shaft member. The shaft member is provided with a connecting member which is different in cross section from and larger in diameter than the shaft member along its longitudinal direction, so that by forcing the connecting member into a through-hole provided in the elastic member, the shaft member and the elastic member can be integrally combined. The elastic roll member can be manufactured with ease and at low cost as it requires no complicated adhesion process.

  • Patent number: 5432574
Abstract: A single-collapsible-lens reflex camera includes a lens barrel designed such that it is moved forward into shooting position from the camera body when in use and at least its part is collapsed in the camera body when not in use. A shutter release button is provided to shoot a subject when pressed. Electromagnets for controlling the leading and following curtains of a focal plane shutter are deenergized before the shutter release button is pressed and energized when the button is pressed. A mirror drive member raises or lowers a movable reflex mirror when a subject is shot and the lens barrel is collapsed. A shutter charging member moves the focal plan shutter in the direction that charges the focal plane shutter in synchronism with the operation of the mirror driving member to raise the mirror and in the direction that discharges the shutter in synchronism with the operation of the discharges driving member to raise the mirror.

  • Patent number: 5432883
Abstract: A voice coding apparatus has a first linear prediction analyzer for acquiring linear prediction coefficients based on a received input speech sampled at a given time interval. A synthesized speech LPC code book stores linear prediction coefficients of a speech resynthesized based on an old input speech. An excitation code book has predetermined excitation vectors. A first error minimizer receives a signal representing an error between the linear prediction coefficient from the first linear prediction analyzer and one linear prediction coefficient of the synthesized speech LPC code book and acquires an index of the synthesized speech LPC code book which minimizes the error. A linear predictor computes a predictive speech based on the index, acquired by the first error minimizer, and an excitation vector of the excitation code book.
