Abstract: A tent having a pass-through port through a wall panel for allowing an item to be passed in and out of the tent without opening the tent door. The pass-through port can be snugly tightened about a cord or hose extending therethrough to prevent insects from entering the tent.
Abstract: A lancing device has a carousel of lancets removably received in a housing. In exemplary embodiments, the lancing device includes a sterility cap positioning mechanism that removes sterility caps from the lancets for actuation and afterwards replaces the sterility caps onto the lancets. Preferably, the lancing device includes a lancet advancing mechanism that automatically advances sequential lancets of the lancet carousel for charging and actuating, and a drive mechanism for actuating the lancets. Also provided are replacement lancet carousels, which include a cylindrical carrier with axial openings and a plurality of the lancets axially oriented in the openings.

Abstract: Disclosed is a wood composite material comprising: upper and lower surface layers and a core layer; wherein the core layer contains at least about 85 wt % paulownia strands; and the surface layers contain at least about 85 wt % of other, higher density, non-paulownia wood strands.
Abstract: Disclosed is a wood composite material comprising: wood strands disposed in surface layers and one or more core layers, whereby an intermediate density divides the wood strands so that the two surface layers of strands are more dense than the intermediate density, and the one or more core layers of the strands are less dense than the intermediate density, and wherein the core layer contains at least about 70 wt % of the strands that are less dense than the intermediate density; and the surface layers contain at least about 70 wt % of the strands that are more dense than the intermediate density.
Abstract: A sampling device (20) having a housing (24) with a lancet cartridge (22) mounted therein. The lancets (26) of the lancet cartridge (22) are interconnected by a flexible web (28). The lancet cartridge (22) is not positively engaged within the housing (24) and can be easily removed. The housing (24) has an opening (42) with an adjacent flexible or compressible fin (60) for dampening the motion of the lancet (26). The lancet cartridge (22) has at least one lancet (26) with an endcap, and the housing has a cap-removal mechanism (74) for separating the endcap from the housing (24). Anti-tampering features prevent opening of the device when the lancet cartridge (22) is oriented with a lancet (26) in a firing position.

Abstract: A heated fuel delivery system for vegetable oil or other fuels of temperature dependent viscosity, which may be used as fuel for a diesel engine. The system includes one or more heated fuel lines and/or a heated fuel tank to heat the fuel and reduce its viscosity for more efficient use. Recovered engine heat from the engine coolant system is transferred to heat the fuel.
Abstract: This invention is related to an automatic self-service vision screening kiosk and method that allows individuals to screen their eyesight without assistance. The device includes subjective and/or objective tests via an interactive video and software program that measures visual acuity and contrast sensitivity. The invention is designed to provide a report with test results. The device and method may also provide a means for making referrals, scheduling appointments, ordering lenses, dispensing lenses and/or forwarding prescriptions to eye care professionals or lens manufacturers.
Abstract: A wheel system for providing one or more protrusions in a ground-engaging surface of the wheel. In some embodiments, the wheel comprises a first hub, a tire mounted on the first hub, a second hub rotatable with respect to the first hub, and system for deforming the tire in a generally radial direction in response to relative rotation between the first and second hubs. The invention also provides a wheel cover comprising an outer surface having one or more protrusions and, when the cover is fitted to a wheel, the outer surface of the cover provides the ground-engaging surface of the wheel. The wheel and wheel cover of the invention are particularly suited for use with prams and similar vehicles in order to impart a rocking motion to the pram during use.
Abstract: A testing apparatus and method for simulating wind loads and evaluating wind resistance of a building component test specimen such as a sheet-metal roofing component. One or more arrays of pneumatic cylinders apply forces according to a specified test protocol to detach the building component from a test base. A software implemented computer control system may be provided to control the cylinders and apply the forces according to the test protocol.
