  • Patent number: 4513216
Abstract: A rotor for small motors, or generators, having circumferentially arranged segmental poles which extend over the entire axial length of the rotor can be fabricated by molding a pair of elements from particulate magnetic material of high coercivity with a binder in the shape of identical crown gears; the rotor being completed by arranging the elements on a shaft with the toothed portions facing each other in interfitting engagement. Other modifications are disclosed in which the pole pieces may be formed separately from, or integrally with, a radial pole carrier, and the pole carrier may be in the shape of a spool with the segmental pole pieces assembled thereon.

  • Patent number: 4449095
Abstract: A process for measuring the hysteresis curve of magnetic materials comprises the generation of a magnetic field of varying amplitude, placing the sample to be measured into that field with a measuring coil and a potential coil attached thereto, integrating the signals from those coils to provide simultaneous values of flux density B and internal field intensity H, recording and storing the B and H values and converting these values to digital units in a transient recorder in real time and then feeding these signals to an X-Y recorder, a printer or other display device at a slower rate of speed to provide a hysteresis curve, or a display of programmed values of magnetic characteristics of the sample being measured.

  • Patent number: 4144697
Abstract: Apparatus for wrapping articles in heat sealed thermoplastic stretchable film consists of a first conveyor for carrying an article forward while progressively enclosing it with film drawn from a film supply, joining the margins of the film together to enclose the article in an elongated tube of film, cutting the film so as to provide equal amounts of excess film at each end of the article, using a vacuum inlet to pull the trailing portion of film to one side of the article so that a transverse rod, moving faster than the article, can fold the trailing portion against one side of the article, folding the leading portion of film against the same side by means of a roller, and finally moving the article into contact with a heated belt to seal the film.

  • Patent number: 4142281
Abstract: The magnet carrier assembly of an electrographic copying device is fabricated from a number of separate parts instead of being machined from a single block of metal. The assembly can consist of a tubular body which supports the magnets either on the outside, or inside, peripheral surface. The tubular body can be formed by extrusion integrally with a radial spider connected to a hub which supports the body. In another form the carrier can be built up by combining specially profiled sheet metal strips with other axially extending elements with which they are joined in a tongue-in-groove arrangement.
