  • Patent number: 5954098
Abstract: In a mechanical loom, a weft insertion needle (28) feeds a loop of weft thread (30) into a shed (26). On the opposite side of the shed is a knitting needle (32) which ties the loop of weft thread (30). The weft insertion needle (28) and the knitting needle (32) are disposed such that the side (56) of the loop of weft thread (56) to be caught by the knitting needle (32) lies below or, at the highest, at the same level as the head (62) of the knitting needle (32). The head (62) of the knitting needle (32) is associated, in the position in which it catches the thread, with a guide plate (52) with a guide cam (54, 72) such that the side (56) of the loop of weft thread to be caught is passed over the head (62) of the knitting needle and into the hook (64) of the knitting needle when the weft insertion needle (28) is run out of the shed. In order to improve the weaving operation and the woven product, the guide plate (52) is located on the side of the knitting needle (32) facing away from (26).

  • Patent number: 5903203
Abstract: An electromechanical switch including a non-magnetic cup shaped housing, the interior of which is sealed from the atmosphere with a seal assembly. A first electric terminal extends through the seal assembly and is connected to a coil spring. A second terminal includes a stationary electrode. The electrode extends through the seal assembly and through the coil spring. The coil spring supports a movable contact. A permanent magnet is selectively movable via a solenoid in close proximity to the contact member for selectively moving the contact member in and out of contact with electrode. In the closed position, electric current flows between the first and second terminals and through the coil spring. In another embodiment, an electric magnet provides the necessary flux for selectively moving the contact member.

  • Patent number: 5870058
Abstract: The invention is based on a planar concept and involves the configuration of a planar radiating element with the property of generating wide-band electromagnetic radiation fields with circular field polarisation. A wide-band radiating element is developed in which the radiating and excitation network planes are separated and excitation of the radiating element is achieved using a coupling waveguide comprising a group of highly conductive planar elements stacked along the normal to their (large) surfaces above a conductive ground plane; to ensure a large radiation band-width, the highly conductive planar elements are placed well above the conductive ground plane and their highly inductive coupling components (which are connected to the ground plane) are compensated by special coaxial waveguide diaphragms whose ellipticity of the circular polarisation is adjusted solely by circular or square diaphragms within the planar contour, without affecting the radiating edges.

  • Patent number: 5856675
Abstract: The invention pertains to the area of radiation production process, specifically to the technology of radiation modification of organic materials and may be used for the creation of production lines for the manufacture of radiation-modified polymer films. The method of irradiating polymer films by an electron beam comprises a two-stage application of an accelerated electron beam on sections of moving polymer film until the preset radiation dose has been absorbed. The duration of the set time interval between the end of treatment Stage one and the beginning of treatment Stage two of the initially irradiated film section is no less than 500 msec. The set dose accumulated by each section of the film in Stage one is sufficient to alter the polymer film material from a free molecular state to a cross-linked state characterized by the formation of 3-dimensional molecular structures having a greater molecular mass.

  • Patent number: 5804737
Abstract: A U-bolt testing apparatus includes a pair of motors coupled to and selectively driving a pair of spindles. The spindles include sockets which are selectively movable vertically and horizontally as may be desired and which are placed over the U-bolt nuts. A U-bolt to be tested is placed on the chassis table with the component parts that are to be retained or clamped within the U-bolt and the U-bolt characteristics are tested by advancing the nuts onto the U-bolt threaded ends. In the alternative, a holding fixture is provided for securely retaining the U-bolt during testing. U-bolts having various different shapes and length of legs can be accommodated and tested by the apparatus. A computer controls the torque of the motors and nuts being advanced on the U-bolt threaded ends and monitors strain gauges which are attached to the U-bolt legs. The test data and characteristics of the tested U-bolts are viewable on an output module connected to the computer.

  • Patent number: 5641076
Abstract: A storage rack for easily loading and unloading glass sheets such as vehicle windshields and windows. The storage rack includes a lower support member whereupon the glass sheets are selectively placed and supported. A plurality of arms are supported and are adapted to rotate about a common axis of rotation. Each of the arms include a spacer portion and a stop surface. When the glass sheets are loaded on the storage rack, the arms are rotated placing the spacer portions thereof between respective sheets of glass and placing the stop surfaces abutting an edge of the sheet of glass to be first removed. As the glass sheets are individually unloaded, the arms are automatically individually released and gravitationally rotated in a position away from and out of the way of the glass sheet to be next removed. The storage racks are reusable.
