Patent number: 4469070Abstract: A fuel control valve for limiting the flow of fuel to an internal combustion engine having fuel injector means. A fuel control valve has a series of orifices in a fuel control block and a cam located in the block and communicating with a fuel pump for an internal combustion engine. The cam is rotatably movable in the control block so as to increase and decrease the cross-sectional flow area for the fuel to the engine by communicating with one or more fuel orifices or jets in the fuel control block. The cam is mechanically connected to the accelerator of the engine so that fuel supply to the stacks leading to the cylinders of the engine is directly controlled according to the operation of the accelerator pedal. In this way, the fuel flow and pressure to the fuel injector is immediately limited when the operator releases the accelerator.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1980Date of Patent: September 4, 1984Inventor: Louis J. Patent number: 4458617Abstract: A connector device for board sailors is provided and includes a body engaging harness which supports a boom engaging device. The boom engaging device comprises an elongated arm having a rotatable spool member which is positioned on and compressably engageable against the boom of the board sailing craft. The length of the arm supporting the rotatable spool is adjustable so that the device can be used by board sailors of varying heights. Moreover, the support arm is angularly adjustable with respect to the body engaging harness so that the boom serves to support the weight of the board sailor when the board sailor hangs out from the side of the sail surfing vessel to counteract the force of the wind exerted upon the sail and to control the direction of the sail craft but permits ready disengagement between the board sailor and the craft when the craft begins to capsize or the sail begins to fall.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1981Date of Patent: July 10, 1984Assignee: John M. Beall, Jr.Inventor: Chris E. Eden

Patent number: 4454504Abstract: A device is provided for use with an actuator having an actuator shaft which indicates when the torque on the actuator shaft exceeds a predetermined limit. The device comprises a housing which carries a pair of limit switches. A shaft extension is operatively connected with the actuator shaft so that axial force on the actuator shaft, which is proportional to the shaft torque, is transmitted to the shaft extension. A hub and Belleville washer arrangement translates the axial force on a shaft into a proportional axial movement of the hub while a radially extending member from the hub includes a portion positioned adjacent the limit switch. Thus, when the axial force in one direction on the shaft exceeds a first predetermined amount, the radially extending member activates one limit switch which in turn is connected to an indicator.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1981Date of Patent: June 12, 1984Assignee: Westran CorporationInventor: Armin E. Jocz

Patent number: 4439959Abstract: A residential building construction comprising four interconnected foundation walls which are partially sunk below a ground surface and support the floor across their upper end. Two side walls, a front wall and a back wall are supported by and extended upwardly from the foundation walls while a roof extends across and covers the side walls, back wall and front wall. A first interior wall extends between the floor and the roof at a position spaced inwardly but parallel to the front wall while, similarly, a second interior wall extends between the floor and roof at a position spaced inwardly but parallel to the back wall. The interior walls together with the building side walls form a living space of conventional height. In addition, the housing front wall preferably includes two windows having portions extending both above and below the housing floor. These windows provide illumination for the lower living level and, simultaneously, give the building construction the appearance of a conventional ranch home.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1981Date of Patent: April 3, 1984Inventor: Robert Helfman

Patent number: 4441156Abstract: A low cost, integrated, aircraft fuel management system. A system control unit receives engine variable signals and provides a signal to a motor control unit which thereby controls a variable speed motor. The motor drives a positive displacement pump which delivers and meters fuel to a slinger type turbine engine capable of handling slurry fuels. In a preferred embodiment, compressor discharge pressure (CDP) is supplied to the airframe fuel reservoir thereby pressurizing the fuel supply and minimizing the power requirements of the motor driving the fuel pump.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1981Date of Patent: April 3, 1984Assignee: Teledyne Industries, Inc.Inventor: Dennis E.
