Abstract: A conveyor system with cooling means is provided and comprises an elongated frame defining a conveyor track. An elongated conveyor is mounted within the frame so that a portion of the conveyor extends longitudinally along the conveyor track while a suitable motor longitudinally drives the conveyor along the conveyor track in a first direction. A plurality of cooling stations are also secured at longitudinally spaced positions along the frame so that the cooling stations are longitudinally adjacent each other. Each cooling station further includes a fluid reservoir beneath the conveyor track and a spray head positioned to spray fluid down onto the conveyor track. A pump is also provided for each cooling station and has its inlet connected to the fluid reservoir for that station while its outlet is connected to the spray head at the cooling station.

  • Patent number: 4353337
Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine having an elliptical wall member which forms an elliptical internal chamber. A drive shaft is rotatably mounted in the housing and extends transversely through the elliptical chamber. A substantially cylindrical rotor is secured to the drive shaft within the chamber and has a plurality of circumferentially equidistantly spaced vane members radially slidably disposed within the rotor. A source of fluid pressure communicates with the radially inner end of the vane members to urge the vane members radially outwardly so that the vane members contact the elliptical wall. Moreover, each vane member is of a sliding laminated construction to ensure a sealing engagement between the vane member and the wall surface. A fuel and air mixture is supplied to the rotor via an air suction chamber which thereafter is compressed with the fuel between the rotor, the wall portion and adjacent vane members.

  • Patent number: 4348709
Abstract: A load protecting circuit includes a triac connected in series with the load to provide an open circuit when a voltage drop or current surge is applied to the load. The triac is gated through a transistorized gating circuit which includes a zero-crossing detector so that the gate of the triac is turned on or off only during zero-crossing points of the AC line voltage. The gating circuit is responsive to a voltage drop detector comprising a photo-optical isolator which turns off as the voltage drop in the input line drops below a predetermined value and, thus, turns off the gating current to the triac. The current surge protector comprises a transistor of reverse polarity from the transistors contained in the gating circuit so that a gate current derived from the current surge and applied to the transistor turns off the activating current for the gating circuit. The device also includes a varistor for protection against spike voltage impulses and a radio frequency suppression line.

  • Patent number: 4346607
Abstract: A flow meter is provided having a housing with inlet and outlet ports respectively adapted to be connected with a source of fluid pressure and a fluid user. A semicircular vane member mounted within the housing is movable in response to a change in the flow rate between the inlet and outlet ports to rotate a shaft to which the vane member is attached. The shaft, in turn, extends externally of the housing and is operatively coupled to an indicator for providing an external visual indication of the rate of fluid flow through the flow meter. The improvement, however, comprises a unitary spring seal having a first portion rigidly secured to the housing and a second portion which extends between the housing and the vane shaft. This second portion extends along the shaft within the housing and is resiliently urged against the outer peripheral surface of the shaft in order to prevent fluid leakage between the vane shaft and the housing.

  • Patent number: 4342489
Abstract: A bearing lubricant injector comprising a first ring member secured to a shaft which is rotatably supported by a bearing adjacent the first ring member. A second ring member is secured to the first ring member by a plurality circumferentially spaced stanchions to define a lubricant flow passage which directs an axial flow of lubricant into the bearing. The radially outer surface of the first ring member is inclined upwardly toward the bearing so that rotation of the ring centrifugally forces the lubricant into the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4341046
Abstract: A tool sharpening fixture is provided which is particularly suited for sharpening rotary cutting tools. The tool sharpening fixture comprises a housing having a throughbore and a bushing rotatably mounted in the housing throughbore and having an eccentric axial bore formed through its. An elongated cylindrical member is inserted through the bushing eccentric bore so that the elongated member extends outwardly from each end of the housing. The cutting tool to be sharpened is removably mounted at one end of the elongated member while the opposite end of the elongated member can be grasped by the hand of the user. An indexing ring is secured to the bushing and locks the elongated member to the bushing in at least two predetermined rotational positions. Typically, the number of indexing positions is the same as the number of cutting edges on the tool to be sharpened. A stop ring is also rotatably mounted to the housing and lockable at any desired rotational position.

  • Patent number: 4336905
Abstract: An energy efficient heating system is provided for use with a fireplace or like means having a flue which recovers heat which is otherwise exhausted through the flue. The heating system comprises a heat collector in the form of a fluid conduit which is mounted within the flue and a housing positioned outside the fireplace. A holding tank having an open top is contained within the housing while the outlet from the fluid conduit is open to the tank. A drain on the tank forms a fluid outlet which is connected to the inlet of a heat exchanger while the heat exchange outlet is connected via a fluid pump to the inlet of the fluid conductor. Thus, upon activation of the fluid pump, a fluid, preferably water, is continually pumped through the fluid conduit while the exhaust gases passing through the flue heat the fluid. In addition, a fan is provided within the housing which circulates air through the heat exchanger and into the area which is to be heated.
