Abstract: A system for optimizing communications on a radio network by altering transitions between different link states that includes several modules. The activity, environment, and load module monitor monitors the link layer based on spectral-load metrics and radio-link metrics. The state transition control module determines when user equipment transitions between different states based on the type of user equipment, user equipment battery life, whether the user equipment is connected to an alternating current outlet, a spectral cost, and a backhaul cost. The channel state influencer module uses any of direct messages, ping messages, and keep-alive messages to influence the link state. The policy and preference handler enables or disables transitions based on the bearer technology type, the type of user equipment, the user's subscription plan, and the load level on the network.

The encoder (10) comprises first and second units (110, 120). The first unit (110) encodes the multi-channel audio signal (101) into the spatial down-mix (102) and parameters (104). These parameters (104) enable a multi-channel decoder (20) to reconstruct the multi-channel audio signal (203) from the spatial down-mix (102). The second unit (120) generates, from the spatial down-mix (102), parameters (105) that enable the decoder to reconstruct the spatial down-mix (202) from an alternative down-mix (103), e.g. a so-called artistic down-mix that has been manually mixed in a sound studio. Abstract: The present invention proposes a new method for improving the performance of a real-valued filterbank based spectral envelope adjuster. By adaptively locking the gain values for adjacent channels dependent on the sign of the channels, as defined in the application, reduced aliasing is achieved. Furthermore, the grouping of the channels during gain-calculation, gives an improved energy estimate of the real valued subband signals in the filterbank.

Abstract: A multi-dimensional representation of an object is obtained in that first and second pictures of the object illuminated using an X-ray source are created using a sensor that is located, in relation to the X-ray source, behind the object in a preferential direction defined by the relative positions of the object and of the sensor. A distance in the preferential direction between the X-ray source and the object is different in the first picture than in the second picture. The multi-dimensional representation of the object is obtained by combining the first and second pictures.

This device is either fixedly integrated into the garment or it can be removed.

Abstract: More customization and adaptation of coded data streams may be achieved by processing the information signal such that the various syntax structures obtained by pre-coding the information signal are placed into logical data packets, each of which being associated with a specific data packet type, and by defining a predetermined order of data packet types within one access unit. The consecutive access units may correspond to different time portions of the information signal. By defining the predetermined order it is possible, at decoder's side, to detect the borders between successive access units even when removable data packets are removed from the data stream between data stream source and decoder without incorporating any hints into the datastream. Therefore, decoders surely detect the access unit beginnings and endings and are not liable to buffer overflow.

Abstract: For adding additional data, such as multi-channel extension data, to base data, such as conventional stereo data, a test fingerprint of test data relating to a test time instant of the test data is provided. The test data equals the additional data or the base data or depends on the additional data or the base data in parametric manner. Using the test fingerprint, reference time instant information is determined, which depends on a reference time instant in reference data, the reference data being the conventional stereo data. Finally, the additional data or the base data is manipulated, namely using the reference time instant information and the test time instant information, to obtain manipulated data, by which synchronous reproduction of the data information can be performed. Thus, a robust and flexible possibility for synchronous, especially late extension of base data by additional data is obtained.

The first entity generates a code having a transaction information and sends a first message to a server. The second entity, such as a buyer of a product or a user of a service captures the code and transmits a second message to the server having information on the transaction extracted from the code. The transaction is only authorized, when the server has determined that the first message and the second message match with each other. The transaction can be a payment transfer, a grant of an access to a service or a grant of an access to an internet portal.

Abstract: The present invention is based on the finding that a sound-reproduction system, which can generate a spatial sound impression in a reproduction environment, can be efficiently and intuitively controlled by means of a graphic user interface when an impulse response associated with a spatial direction with respect to the reproduction environment is graphically represented, and when the possibility is created for a user to change the impulse response graphically so that, based on the user input of a change, the changed impulse response can be graphically represented and the changed graphical representation can be detected, in order to control the sound-reproduction system. Since it is system-theoretically possible to describe all known linear signal processing operations by impulse responses, it is possible, with the inventive graphic user interface, to provide a sound mixer, through a graphical representation, with an intuitive access to sound effects depending on the direction.

Abstract: A power distribution and communication system includes nodes connected by power lines and communication links. The system receives power from one or more power sources. Each node contains at least one power port, data port and load port. Associated with each power port and load port is a port monitor for measuring current flowing into or out of the port and the voltage difference between the port outlet and ground, which measurements are passed to a processing element. The processing element and monitor analyze measured values to detect fault conditions. Upon fault condition detection, the port is disabled by opening a switch, disconnecting the port from the system voltage. The processing element receives power directly from the power line, thus receiving power from a live power line even if the associated power port is disabled allowing the processing element to enable a disabled node following a failure.
