  • Patent number: 5257893
Abstract: A portable dispenser apparatus for bulk bags is mounted on a longitudinally extending frame that is suitable for mounting on a trailer or a truck. The bags are mounted on a platform with an opening under which is attached a chute and an auger. The platform is supported on the frame such that the chute and auger fit under the platform as close as possible to the ground and, in a preferred form, so that the auger can be pivoted and rotated. Material flows under force of gravity from the bag, through the opening, down the chute and into the auger from which it is supplied to a planter, grinder mixer, spreader and so forth. When the bag has a spout a cinch or the like is provided to check the flow.

  • Patent number: 5234698
Abstract: A method of treating the prostate by intraprostatic injection of zinc ions in a concentration effective to increase the amount of prostatic antibacterial factor and to inhibit the rate of prostatic growth. The treatment is applied to patients with prostatitis, to patients with benign adenomatous hyperplasia of the prostate after prostatic resection and to patients with early prostatic carcinoma as an alternative to surgery as needed to provide long-term remission. The treatment is also applied prophylactically to prevent the development of prostatitis, particularly in males of advanced age.

  • Patent number: 5222456
Abstract: A boarding platform for a boat having a bow eye is useful over a wide range of boat hulls and does not materially interfere with the flow of water over the bow. The bow boarding platform has a Y-shaped mounting bracket and a stage which can be used as a place to stand or as a step. A pivotable connector joins the stage to the mounting bracket in such a manner that the stage can be placed in an upwardly inclined "stow" position and in a generally horizontal "use" position.

  • Patent number: 5215266
Abstract: A bale shredder tears a bale apart from the end and advances the bale longitudinally into the shredder. The shredder has a centrifugal fan with at least one rotor mounted thereon. There are knives on the fan and on the rotor and there is a loosely fitted collar of blades around the fan. As the bale is advanced into the fan, the knives on the rotor are wiped across the bale by the compound motion of the rotating fan and rotor and tears it apart. The knives on the fan cooperate with the blades in a scissoring action to shred the material torn loose by the rotor. The shredded material falls through the blades and is blown out the shredder by vanes on the centrifugal fan.

  • Patent number: 5207012
Abstract: A pair of cross jaw pliers with handles and jaws pivoted around a pivot pin with a container in each handle, one for storing and dispensing fishhooks and the other for storing and dispensing split shot sinkers. Both handles have a short bowed section joined to a longer hollow tube portion. The short bowed sections compensate for the lack of curvature in the longer tube portions. Each tube portion is closed with a normally closed valve that is adapted to be opened with finger or thumb pressure to gravity-feed the fishhooks and sinkers. The jaws of the pliers are biased open and have a recess for seating and retaining a split shot sinker and crimping it on a fishing line. The jaws also have longitudinal blades for cutting the fishing line.

  • Patent number: 5183994
Abstract: A heated drug box for transporting emergency drugs and I. V. solutions at a safe working temperature wherein the medical supplies usually required first are accessible in a side compartment through door means in the side of the box. Other door means are provided in the top of the box through which a main compartment is accessible. The side and main compartments are in thermal contact with a heater means located between the side and main compartments for heating the contents of the box to a safe working temperature.

  • Patent number: 5163553
Abstract: A scalpel blade extractor and disposal unit formed of semi-flexible plastic material. The unit has a substantially closed chamber within which a blade mounted on a handle is received. The chamber has a top and a bottom and an abutment shoulder is attached to the top and extends below the plane of the bottom for the purpose of retaining the blade in the chamber. A mechanism is provided for increasing the distance between the top and the bottom so that the blade on the handle passes under the abutment shoulder. The bottom has a groove and shoulders around the groove for prying the heel of the blade up such that it is stopped by the abutment shoulder when the handle is withdrawn leaving the blade behind in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 5152198
Abstract: An adjustable wrench in which a slidable jaw is snapped toward a fixed jaw in an almost fully closed position by the force of a helical spring. The slidable jaw is not fully snapped closed to enable a close tolerance adjustment to be easily made for spacing requirements. The clutch teeth on the slidable jaw are locked in various equally spaced positions by counter acting locking teeth on an adjacent movable plate. The plate is held against the slidable jaw by a second helical spring located in the handle of the adjustable wrench.
