Abstract: A hydraulic well pump for operating a pump sucker rod string including a hydraulic cylinder assembly for raising and lowering the sucker rod string and a fluid counterbalancing system for offsetting the combined weight of the reciprocating service equipment, the fluid column above the pump plunger, and the sucker rod string. One counterbalancing embodiment includes an air supported piston on the movable cylinder exposed to an air chamber below the air piston functioning independently of the hydraulic and power and logic system of the pump. Another counterbalancing system embodiment uses a hydraulic fluid accumulator connected into the system fluid power and logic for supercharging the hydraulic power pumps during the lift stroke and providing opposing force during the downstroke.

  • Patent number: 4545731
Abstract: A system and method for producing earth formation fluids such as crude oil using a lighter oil to force the crude oil to the surface and thereafter removing the lighter oil by gas lift techniques. The well system includes spaced packers defining a production chamber in the well bore, a production tubing extending through the packers having check valves and ports for well fluids to flow into the chamber from below the packer while isolating the chamber from the pressure of production fluids in the production tubing. Power fluid tubing extends through the upper packer into the production chamber including spaced gas lift valves and gas flow means from the lowermost gas lift valve into the production chamber. Surface equipment is provided for pumping power fluid into the power fluid tubing string, introducing lift gas into the power fluid tubing string above the upper packer, and separating returned power fluid and lift gas.

  • Patent number: 4522130
Abstract: A portable mobile foldable table including a foldable frame having rigidly connected upper and lower side rails and legs, inwardly foldable end rail assemblies, and upper and lower trays which fit within the framework of the upper and lower side and end rail assemblies rigidly locking the frame in operating position. Shoulder surfaces along the side rails with an engageable relationship between the top edges of the end rail assemblies with end handles on the trays provides support at tray ends as well as support along the full lengths of the opposite sides of the trays. The spacing between the legs, side rails, and folded end rail assemblies provides storage space within the folded frame for two trays which are slightly longer than the distance between the legs at opposite ends of the frame assembly so that the trays rest on the folded lower end rail assemblies contained between the legs on opposite sides of the frame for tray storage when the frame is fully folded.

  • Patent number: 4491055
Abstract: The pump or pumps for supplying fluid to the two ends of a double-acting cylinder include a direction control, such as a direction control valve, shiftable between extend and retract conditions. A drive mechanism for the direction control includes a rotary hydraulic motor and a driven rotary drive mechanism for shifting the direction control. Hydraulic fluid is supplied to the drive motor through parallel connected start and stop valves. The start valve is opened in response to the movements of the hydraulic cylinder toward a stroke limit. The stop valve is operated in response to the shifting of the direction control, so that the motor is operated intermittently to reverse the direction control when the cylinder reaches the limit of an extend or retract stroke. The stop valve is controlled by the drive mechanism in timed relation with the shifting of the direction control. The start valve may be closed by that drive mechanism in timed relation with the opening of the stop valve.

  • Patent number: 4462465
Abstract: A side pocket mandrel has an elongated receptacle in the side pocket, parallel with the main bore. A lateral side port communicates the receptacle with the exterior of the side pocket of the mandrel. A flow control assembly includes a sliding sleeve valve and a control valve, both designed to be removable from the receptacle. The sleeve valve is movable within the receptacle between a closed position and an open position relative to the side port, and includes collet fingers having outwardly projecting latching lugs for engagement in a receptacle latching recess in the closed position. The bore of the receptacle is slightly larger below the latching recess than it is above the recess, so that limited inward movement of the latching lugs, restrained by an insert within the sleeve valve, will permit movement of the valve downward to the open position but will not allow movement of the valve upward from the closed position, so long as the insert is in place.

  • Patent number: 4436150
Abstract: An inner mandrel extends the full length of the bridge plug, and carries a top sub at its upper end for latching engagement with a conventional overshot to retrieve the plug. A tubular outer mandrel is slidably mounted on the inner mandrel for limited axial sliding movement. A partial central bore in the inner mandrel and coacting ports adjacent the upper ends of the two mandrels provide a valved bypass passage bridging the seal element. External slips are carried in a slip carrier axially fixed to the inner mandrel by shear screws. A tubular setting assembly consisting of a lower top wedge for expanding the external slips, an upper compression member, and an annular elastic seal element disposed for compression between the wedge and compression member, is yieldably secured to the outer mandrel by means of shear pins. Second yieldable shear pins couple the top wedge and compression member.

The sleeve valve is latched in its port-closing position, but is designed to enable removal from the receptacle bore for servicing; and a pulling tool is provided for removing the sleeve valve from the receptacle when desired. The sleeve is shifted to its port-opening position when a standing flow control valve is placed in the receptacle; and the standing valve has a large valve chamber and side entry and exit ports for the production fluid to provide for maximum flow. The standing valve provides a check valve into the producing zone, the valve closure member being a modified ball consisting of a cylindrical body with spherical ends and coacting with a spherical valve seat.
