Abstract: The invention relates to improved solutions for information retrieval, wherein the information is represented by digitized text data. This data is further presumed to be organized in terms (431-438), documents and document corpora, where each document contains at least one term (431-438) and each document corpus contains at least one document. Based on a concept vector (420-424), which conceptually classifies the contents of each document, a term-to-concept vector is generated for each term (431-438) in the document corpus. The term-to-concept vector describes a relationship between the term (431) and each of the concept vectors (420-424). On basis of the term-to-concept vectors for the document corpus, a term-term matrix is generated which describes a term-to-term relationship between all the terms (431-438) in the document corpus.

Abstract: A method for generating a textured surface for a golf ball is disclosed. Preferably, the textured surface of the golf ball substantially minimizes the drag experienced by the golf ball. The method includes generating a guide pattern. The guide pattern is preferably mapped to the surface of the golf ball. A shaped profile may also be generated. The textured surface of the golf ball may be generated based on sweeping the shaped profile along the guide pattern. It may be desirable to add protrusions or entrenchments to the surface of the golf ball to further reduce drag.
Abstract: An integrated circuit apparatus includes a reconfigurable arithmetic operation device and a control device that generates mapping data defining a circuit configuration of the reconfigurable arithmetic operation device whose circuit configuration is changed while a given application is running and another application is newly implemented and run. The control device generates mapping data defining an intermediate configuration to shift from a circuit configuration defined by first mapping data to a configuration defined by final mapping data through the intermediate configuration.
Abstract: A base station has a time correlation calculating unit for estimating a variation-with-time characteristic of radio link quality using radio downlink quality information reported by a mobile station, a target error rate setting unit for changing over a target error rate adaptively using this variation-with-time characteristic, and an MCS decision unit for deciding a modulation scheme and/or encoding rate, in such a manner that packet error rate becomes equal to the target error rate, using the radio link quality information as well as reception success/failure information reported by the mobile station. The base station transmits a packet based upon the modulation scheme and/or encoding rate decided.

Abstract: A method for determining positional relationships among objects represented in a database. A plurality of tiles are defined. A distribution of objects with respect to the tiles is determined. The distribution of objects is compared with respect to the tiles to identify objects fulfilling a primary filter condition related to an interaction of the objects with respect to the tiles. Objects are identified that fulfill a secondary filter condition related to an interaction of the geometries of the objects by analyzing the distribution of objects that fulfill the primary filter condition with respect to the tiles. Objects are identified that fulfill the secondary filter condition by comparing geometries of objects that fulfill the primary filter condition that the analysis does not identify as fulfilling the secondary filter condition.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for soliciting orders for customized apparel. The apparel can be appendage apparel, such as footwear, gloves, or head gear, or non-appendage apparel such as jackets. The present method includes providing an order form accessible through at least one computer by one or more users. The present method further includes providing one or more possible design parameters, requesting the user to customize the apparel by entering at least one of the parameters on the order form. The user submits the order form through the computer and receives apparel according to the order form. The parameters may include size, material, model, style, color, material treatment, or personalization.

Abstract: An array antenna directivity control apparatus for use in tracking a target updates a weighting coefficient based on an error between antenna signals of multiple antennas and a known reference signal, and corrects an amount of updating for each of the weighting coefficients. The updating is performed based on predict error information predicted based on past errors. As a result, it is possible to adjust a weighting coefficient based on a prediction of the next position of a target. Thus, it is possible to track a target which is being moving at high speed with a small amount of calculation.
